I pulled around the back of the shop lost trying to find the entrance and Robert came out to assist . He took a quick look under the hood and directed me to the front. He was leaving early and didn't have time to do a full diagnostic but he still checked to see what he could see with the visible eye and it was for sure an oil leak. He asked if I could leave the car for the next day and he'll get on it first thing in the morning . He even offered me a ride home when he saw me standing on the street Waiting for my boyfriend to pick me up. Very friendly and honest shop. When it came to the pricing they try and do all they can to help you out knowing how hard it is with this economy . After getting a quote for the fix I called around a couple other shops and they were the more affordable option. Ive found my forever mechanic . The work for its repair was quoted around 3k but the SmartTech owner took anyway the time to do a lot of research into the problem and even found out that it was an issue for a lot of Volts and suggested that I could have it fixed for free by a Chevrolet dealership (which I did). The honesty of these guys is unparalleled, they are very polite and accomodating and I will be taking my other car for a complete revision soon. I made the mistake of trying to service the A/C on my Honda Odyssey myself on a Saturday before we were supposed to leave on a family road trip. Needless to say, I picked just about the worst possible time to experiment with it. I ended up overfilling the A/C system, which caused the compressor's protection/shutoff system to kick in. The A/C wasn't working properly, and with a hot weekend and a family road trip coming up, I was desperate to find someone who could help. Finding a mechanic on a Saturday afternoon who was willing to take a look at an A/C problem was not easy. I called around, and fortunately, I reached Chad. He told me he could take a look at it, even though he was getting ready to close the shop within the hour. I brought the van down, and one of the first things that impressed me was how quickly he figured out what was going on. Before even hooking up diagnostic equipment or instruments, Chad knew something was wrong with the A/C system. He could actually smell the refrigerant and immediately suspected that the system had been overcharged. He then took the time to explain exactly what I had done and what had happened to the system. And this is something I really appreciated--he explained it in a way that made sense and, more importantly, he didn't make me feel like an idiot for trying to do it myself. We've all made those "I probably shouldn't have done that" mistakes with our vehicles, and Chad handled the situation with professionalism and a great attitude. He was able to properly evacuate the system and recharge it to the correct level, getting the A/C working perfectly again. It was an extremely hot weekend (friggin El Nino), and having reliable, ice-cold A/C made a huge difference for me and my family on our road trip. Chad didn't just fix a problem--he helped save our trip. What really stood out to me was the combination of knowledge, experience, willingness to help, and customer service. He could have easily said, "Sorry, we're closing," especially on a Saturday afternoon. Instead, he took the time to help me out when I really needed it. That kind of service is becoming harder and harder to find. We really appreciate Chad for taking care of us, and I'll definitely be bringing some of our vehicles to his shop for service in the future. I had a great experience with Alex at Value Auto Repair. I originally reached out through Yelp, and he was responsive and answered all of my questions. His pricing was significantly better than what the dealership quoted me, but what really stood out wasn't just the price--it was his honesty. I came in with a humming noise that I believed was a bad wheel bearing but was unsure. Alex was upfront from the beginning after making the same diagnosis and even encouraged me to get quotes from other mechanics if it made me feel more comfortable so I could make sure I was getting a fair deal. That kind of confidence and transparency is hard to find. When I arrived, he was able to get my car in within about 30 minutes to diagnose it. While the part was being delivered, I went to lunch, and once I came back, he had the wheel bearing replaced in about 45 minutes. Before I left, he took the time to show me both the old and new wheel bearings, explaining how they worked and letting me hear and feel the difference. I really appreciated him taking the time to educate me instead of just handing me a bill. One thing I noticed while I was waiting was how many customers came in who clearly knew Alex.
