Bruce was unprofessional during my daughters first session. he was yelling at my daughter when she made mistakes instead of giving advice. criticizing my wife and I for not teaching and taking my daughter enough driving on the road. calling other customers during my daughters first session, cursing while on the phone. he made my daughter uncomfortable and she no longer wants to drive with this instructor. really unprofessional. i wouldn't recommend this guy if you had a daughter. read more

Rude inappropriate and unprofessional paid for six hours. Only did two hours ate the cost of the rest cause I was not sending my daughter with this man. Had to find another company and pay for another four hours. Very disappointed this man should not be able to work with teenagers let alone females. Your political views and your drama of your ex-wife and son should not have been exposed to my kid on top of everything else nor inappropriately talking or yelling or scolding that's not teaching you have issues. read more

If I could give this person a zero star I would. He made my son's first driving experience horrible. He made inappropriate comments about his 13 year sister and asked if I had a boyfriend. Bruce yelled at my son multiple times and just drove around in circles with him. I demanded a refund and he wouldn't do it. Do not give him any money. He is a scam and disrespectful, dishonest and down rude. See the video here read more

Bruce was a great instructor, he always showed up on time, we had nice football conversations in the car and I was taught all rules of the road and I feel ready for my driving test. Would definitely recommend to others. Thank you Bruce! read more

I called to get information about the services at this school. The person I talked with was extremely rude and aggressive. He tried to argue with me when there was nothing to argue about. I finally said I will find another place. Thank you and I hung up. The person was very unprofessional and tried to pull a tough guy attitude over the phone. Based on the way I was treated on the phone, I'm going to stay away from this place even though it is at a very convenient location. read more

I have had such a great experience with my driving instructor Bruce! After years of struggling to pass my test I was finally able to pass my test with his amazing help! Truly amazed and incredibly grateful for his patience and dedication to getting me DMV ready. Definitely 10/10 would recommend !!! Thanks Bruce!! read more

I wish I could give him ZERO stars! Avoid Bruce at all cost. He is so rude unprofessional, and my son begged me not do another lesson with him. He talks about politics, and his ex-wife and son, and repeats what other kids say about your child (even if it is unkind.) The only thing he is expert at, is being a jerk. read more

Bruce is a real problem. I thought his issue was just with women but it seems his rudeness and hyper-aggressive attitude is for anyone who dares to question him. Save yourself the trouble and choose a driving instructor that isn't a combative prick. read more

Bruce is a very cool and understanding guy, i was in a rush to get my lessons knocked out, he booked me the very next day. Affordable prices and very friendly read more

I am extremely disappointed in the service of this school. Contact with Bruce was horrible and unprofessional. I needed a copy of my daughter's driver's ed certificate and he chraged me $25 to replce the orginal he sent out. My daughter did not includ eour apartment number, so i was charged $25 to replace it. I didn't mind doing that, but Bruce had me call him only to tell me i hit the innocrrect button on his website-ugh. And then it took several more phones in order to correc this issue. He also reached out to my daughter to resolve this payment. Each conversation was odd, unprofessional, and uncomfortable. I would never use or recommend his serivce. Reported to the BBB. read more

Bruce took my daughter out on one driving lesson. He spoke to her about how America is not how it use to be and what a bad direction this country is going in. He had her run his errands for him. Making her stand outside the car while he went into the bank and a few other places. He told her she had to schedule the next appointment before the lesson was over and that it needed to be done in 2 weeks. He likes to just get the lessons done and move on, not worrying about when she was ready for move driving skills. He also told her he does not take kids on the freeway. For her second lesson, she came down with a fever the morning of the lesson after a few covid exposures at school. I called him to reschedule as soon as he opened that morning. He told me he did not mind taking a child with a 101 fever in his car and lets just get it done. I explained to him my concerns about the first lesson and he got upset and told me I am getting personal. Also told me he is unhappy with how "left" the country is going, but he is a proud American. I asked for a refund for the remaining two lessons, and he refused. Again, telling me lets just get the lessons done. I will not send my daughter in his car and will do what I can to recover my money. This is why he is a pay upfront, cash or check only company. Stay away! read more

I was able to pass my test within 12 hrs of lessons (plus 12 hrs of driving on my own time - highway and street time) on my first try. Bruce is calm during those first rocky lessons and helps you refine your skills as you get comfortable behind the wheel. My only critique is that he can be very opinionated and verbally aggressive when he feels strongly about a topic (and he always feels strongly) which made sitting through lessons very draining. His personality can be abraisive. He made me cry during our first lesson and was rude to the DMV employee when I went in to take my test and it was embarrassing. But, if you're up for dealing with that, his lessons go for the cheapest rate and he really knows his stuff. His technical skill and attention to detail make all the difference. I appreciate the instruction in driving and would not have passed my test without professional guidance!!! Bruce also let me rent his car for the actual DMV test and picked me up and dropped me off at home before and after every lesson. Honestly, he gets the job done and you'll pass with his help, but if you have the money, I'd recommend another company. I felt very uncomfortable most of the time and like I had to be silent to protect myself from verbal attack. To me it was worth it, I got the professional help I paid for, but I wouldn't put my child through it and certainly would not recommend any of my friends to him, which hurts me to say because I think Bruce really is an expert and knows what he's doing on the road. It's just like... yeah, he gets angry easily and I felt unsafe to be myself on more than one occasion. He tries to be very personal but then he isn't approachable and is judgmental so I had to ask him to just focus on my driving or else just let him talk and not really engage with my own thoughts. If you get him to stick to just talking about your driving, he's 4 star, but good luck! read more

I wanted to give a BIG FAT ZERO STARS...Bruce is an extremely rude man. We had set up my daughters first driving lesson. The night before she had 102 fever and was vomiting . Very very sick. We called to cancel and Bruce was SO RUDE and told us not to as he would lose $! My kid is super sick and he just worries about his cut? He also used inappropriate language with me on the phone. I'm the mom/ customer and that was so UNPROFESSIONAL the way he spoke to me. Not using this company! Not a good way to start with a new driver as a customer. We will be using someone else. read more

The only reason i rated this school with a "1 star" is because there was not an option for "negative start" . I just got hung up on twice by this owner, Bruce, when trying to book an appt for my daughter for behind the wheel. It is December 23rd now and he was infuriated that I wanted to schedule her after Christmas vacation. I believe his words were "You have a whole week to get started and YOU decide to book it when school starts. Give me a Break !! Do what you want I have plenty of clients!" (and proceeded to hang up the phone on me!). I called back again because I could not believe he would act in such a way (unprovoked), he hung up on me again. DO NOT book with this company !!!! It's Christmas for goodness sake...aren't we supposed to be kind to others especially during this time? I was only trying to give him business...bah humbug! read more

I booked this school for my child's driving lesson. I am not planning to send him back. He said this Covid outbreak is all hoax and did not want to wear a mask. He has poor manners and has anger management issues. read more

Like others have mentioned, my daughter also suffered from Bruce's anger, obnoxious personality, and inconsiderate mannerisms. He tried to engage her in political discussions, but she felt nervous to be open with him because he was easily angered. He was harsh with criticism of her skills at times and she felt anxious to drive alongside him. I'm glad she finished her driving instruction, but wish I had read these reviews before booking him. I would not recommend him at all. read more

Definitely don't recommend this driving school for anyone. Rather than giving you tips to fix your issues as NEW DRIVERS, he yells at you and practically calls you dumb. Along with that, he was extremely racist throughout the whole drive and even asked me if I was "born in America" and since I was born in America, I'm "not actually Asian." Short tempered, sarcastic, rude, racist, and noneducational. He claims to have been teaching drivers for 20+ years, but he definitely didn't act like it, it was extremely unprofessional. Brought up deep subjects of his personal life numerous times and it was very uncomfortable to drive with. He makes you feel bad for not knowing how to drive regardless the fact hes teaching NEW drivers. Complete waste of money. read more

I just call this number twice 619-885-7777 (April 4, 2022) to try to arrange for serving lessons for my kid. The man wants a full payment but does not want to schedule lessons for two weeks away during non school hours. He just wanted to schedule one lesson. When I stated, I don't feel comfortable paying for a full package and unable to schedule, this man stated he does not have time to negotiate and hung up on me. When I called back, he hung up again. I called back just to be sure I was not hung up on, and he did it again. He is not an appropriate person to giving driving lessons to teenagers. I am actually glad he acted this way. I would not let my kid alone in a car with a person so Rude on a phone call and with shady business practices. read more

Bruce is very responsive and accommodating. He is willing to take the extra time on the phone or before/after a lesson to discuss/explain. My son got a perfect score on the behind the wheel test, which his DMV tester said was rare. My daughter has one more lesson until she is ready for behind the wheel. Bruce is honest and tells you like it is. read more

This was the worst experience ever . Bruce the owner was horrible and out dated . He was insulting and probably a little racist . I've seen reviews on here and it seems like all good reviews are from white people . My son came home very angry and frustrated, as was I with this man . I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy . Horrible experience!!!!!!!! read more

These reviews are completely honest so I would definitely read before you decide to use this place. Bruce made me terrified to be in the car and even after I got my license, I was still terrified to drive. Not only did he hit my hand while I was driving but he also always tries to engage in political conversations that I personally didn't agree with but I never said anything because I was so sad to disagree with him and he also talked about his deep personal life while yelling at me when I made a mistake. He has very racist views and he tries to tell you about controversial history, but it's completely false information. I had a friend (girl) that also had him while I was and she reported the same thing. He yelled at her constantly and make her feel inferior. I did pass my first time, however I had to hire someone else for my last lesson because he was so awful. WOULD NOT recommend! read more

I took 12 hours with Bruce he was super helpful and gave tips about what the are going to say at the DMV. Easy to get along with super helpful and I feel confident in my ability t0 pass the test and be a good driver. read more

I took the driving lesson from this company for 6 hours training (3 days, 2 hours per session) with the owner as driving instructor. From the first moment of the phone conversation to set up the appointment, I should have known that there is something wrong. He straightly asked about my racial background for whatever the reason was. On the next day of first driving session, this individual has shown more unprofessional behaviors towards me including continuously asking personal questions including my marital status, relationship background and information which I did not respond of course. I said those are personal and he was being inappropriate to me. He said he did not mean to and kept talking on and on. During the whole (that supposedly) driving lesson experience, he kept talking about his beliefs, making remarks about his other ex or current driving students from certain racial backgrounds, his personal matters and issues with his personal matters, and the most annoyingly comments about religions, politics and other beliefs but his which are all wrong in his opinion. He continuously said that he is not bias or racist, but the more he speaks, the more racist he became. I understand that America is the land of freedom and we all have free speech but calling out other religions, other races than white to the customers who paid fully to learn is not acceptable and very distracting especially when I have to be behind the wheel driving. I've tried to respond wisely, objective and be polite about this but he kept going on and on to make his remarks. Furthermore, in the second session, I told him at the beginning of the lesson that I'd like more pointers for the driving (the polite way to show that I do not wish extra personal conversations). He did give me more pointers but at the same time still eagerly talked and tried to engage me to respond to his personal matters, religion and race topic nonstop. The last session I was more annoyed because he kept talking and when giving me pointers sometimes being rude, as I did not know anything and when I stood up he said that I don't know anything, he knows everything and I was being disrespectful for responding. He then told me that he was giving me a favor for teaching me driving techniques and I do not appreciate him which is not true. I paid him more than $200 for the services and I deserve to get the driving lesson, not bear all his unprofessional attitudes. I was being cautious especially as a new driver on the road and taking his pointers fully while I have to keep my concentration with a lot of distractions coming from him, who supposedly teaching me. If all business owners and people are like this, I do not think and wish to be a customer. From the beginning he talked badly about certain race of students that he had, I will not be surprised if he talked badly about my race as well to the next person/students. Not that I care, but it proves how un-professional he is. I'm writing this review not to bring down his business but I want changes for the better, for himself and his business. San Diego as well as other part of the United States have many people, including people of color with different beliefs, faith and cultures. I do not think it is right for this person to be able to keep ranting and be a bigot spreading negative "opinions" (not facts) to regular people like me who just live our lives in good faith and just want to learn. read more

This experience was a bit weird because he often got off topic and said was taking to much about politics and other topics. He doesn't really give constructive criticism and just tells you what your doing wrong in a rude way. read more

Bruce made me write a five star review for him before I left the car after my lesson. This driver talks about his personal life and issues the whole time. He gets very angry and does not make you feel comfortable whatsoever. Not a good instructor. PLEASE READ REVIEWS BEFORE HAND. This was around 3 years ago and plus I have the paper with your signature on it to prove it but it seems like all the bad reviews seem to come from your competitors not that you were just a terrible instructor. Get over yourself and figure how to properly deal with your mistakes. read more

I called to speak with this school and ask questions. The gentleman sounded as if I woke him at 10:30 in the morning. Before I could ask any questions he told me the price and wanted to schedule me. Bruce is beyond unbelievable rude and obnoxious. Clearly the guy has some chip on his shoulder. After I asked if we could re-schedule (not cancel) our appointment due to a family matter, he proceeded to text me that I was "screwing him" and other non-sense. Stay away from this slime ball. If you must use him, ask for what certifications he has and who provides them. I can't believe he is still in business. read more

We are totally satisfied with Expert driving school. Bruce was a very good instructor, had a safe car, arrived on time, and very professional. He carefully taught our son rules of the road, and what to expect at DMV test. He spaced the appointments out a little, and picked our son up from school twice to practice driving nearby during busy times. Most of the lesson times were spent with my son actually driving, except for 1 short break per lesson. He texted our son directly with appointments, and was very personable. Highly recommend! read more

DO NOT BE FOOLED By Bruce or his prices. When I first spoke with him he seemed reputable and was able to get my daughter in quickly, which is what I wanted. Their very first time they met, he had her drive straight to the bank to cash my check. He continuously had her run errands for him and take breaks ( post office, 7-11, bank, etc.) He also told her that she was stupid after she made a simple mistake , talked negatively about other students by calling them fat, constantly talked about his son, and was completely rude. After the first day my daughter came home crying and said she was scared of him. I will definitely be reporting him to the BBB. He is an absolute disgrace! read more

COMPLETE FRAUD !!!!!!!!!!!! This person is absolutely horrible. My daughter completed the online portion and never received the certificate. Her test is tomorrow. I called Bruce to verify that he mailed the certificate and had to deal with a very loud, rude and unprofessional idiot. He refused to verify the address he mailed it to because he had already left it in a voicemail. I asked if I could pick the certificate up, he said it would be a fee involved, but he said he would be nice and give me a "discount". Immediately I regretted not following my intuition about this guy. He accused me of losing the certificate because according to him "90 percent" of people lose it. Sounds like he has 90 percent of his customers not receiving what they paid for. After dealing with him I called other driving schools and told them my situation. BRUCE IS WELL KNOWN IN THE DRIVING SCHOOL COMMUNITY FOR RIPPING PEOPLE OFF!!! Luckily I only paid for the online portion. So if Bruce has to steal $18 to survive I feel sorry for him. Since I paid with credit I will contact my bank before he commits more fraud. Thieves will stop at nothing. Oh I forgot to mention the text he sent after the phone call. Again accusing me of losing the certificate and still offering his discount. STAY AWAY FROM THIS SCHOOL!!!!! read more

I called to inquire about information for behind the wheel training for my kid and the guy who answered the phone was rude and came across as being bothered with my questions. When I told this man I decided not to go with him, he asked why and I told him I was turned off by his tone and attitude he flew off the handle and told me to "F#!@-off". After hanging up on this man, I went on-line to research this company and found some pretty bad reviews regarding this man. I'm happy to say walking away saved me from a terrible experience, considering the experience on the phone. Save your money and time. This man shouldn't be in the business of working with people, especially your kids. read more

Well, I have to say that I am glad that I did NOT check Yelp first before hiring Bruce; especially in regards to the comments about making MINOR females feel like they are getting 'hit on' by Bruce. I really have a feeling that those comments are out of pure malice and if that happen to my CHILD I would have filed a police report an not just complained about it on Yelp! My daughter has model like good looks and NEVER once felt like Bruce was inappropriate with her in any way, shape or form. She was only 15 1/2 years old when we first used this company to teach my girl how to drive. That was in January and then we hired Bruce again yesterday for a 'brush up' class before her actual driving test which was today and guess what? She passed with flying colors, close to a perfect score and the DMV tester even wrote 'Great Job!' on her test paper :) !!!!!! This is all in thanks to Bruce with the firm way he handled my strong willed child. Maybe I have adopted more of a 'tough love' type of parenting style over the years; but if Bruce has to raise his voice or act firm with my child I am ALL for it. For the other reviews that I have seen on here; do you think that when your child causes an accident due to being a clueless driver the other driver on the road is going to be kind to your special 'little snowflake' and respect their 'safe space.' I DONT THINK SO! Driving is SERIOUS business and needs to be treated as such. Bruce keep up the good work and I appreciate all your help with my girl, ever so thankful :) read more

Expert Driving School - Happy Camper here! Thanks to Bruce!!!!! - Driving Schools Near Me - San Diego, California

Wanted ZERO stars for Bruce on behalf of my friend who had a horrifying experience with him. Since she's from another country she felt he was being a racist towards her. He was abrasive in the way he was teaching her and gets very angry personal to the point where he was yelling at her. I practice with her already for 2 hours she was driving ok but I know that she needs more time and that's why she paid someone to teach her. However, she is not bad to the point where she deserves to be treated like that. She had paid for the full lessons and only had 2 hours time with Bruce. He kept yelling at her which made her cry. After that first lesson she was so terrified to be in the car with him and was reluctant to return. He however, kept texting her to book a lesson and After a week she thought she give him another try and didn't want to lose her money BUT this time was WORSE! He kept yelling at her for not putting in more time to practice and and it got to the point where she couldn't take it anymore because she felt she was in danger. Her fear of him and his anger issues made her stopped the car and ran out. She had to call her friends to take her for a ride home. She will not use him anymore or recommend him to anyone. Bruce will not refund her money saying that he can provide the service and blamed her saying its her fault for not wanting to use him for the remainder of the time. She lost about $120 This man should not work with the public, he's very opinionated, not a nice person has anger issues. He has no compassion or patience to be a driving instructor. All he wanted was the money Because he didn't care about how he made her feel. Don't waste your money on this A''hole who will make you unsure of yourself and belittle and berate you and yells at you. This guy is a bigot towards minority female drivers! read more

Dont not use his help reviews speak for themselves. If I could give this place 0 stars I would. The way the owner Bruce spoke to my daughter and I was rude and disrespectful. I signed my daughter up for his online course which was not working. When we called to ask if it would be working he responded by the end of summer. I calmly told him I wanted her to complete it before school started. He told me basically oh well and that she should be able to complete the lessons without video if she was smart enough. I explain I wanted her to have access to all the material. I asked for a refund he laughed and said "no... you dont get things for free." He had a student at the time of our call and told them she is yelling at me and wants a refund when I never raised my voice. Proceeded to say so many other things my daughter started to cry. We were in the car with the call on speaker. I wouldn't feel safe with her on the road with him without me present!!!! Dont buy the online course it is not working properly and he had no interest in fixing to get the full experience of the course. The DMV needs to take his privileges and his business should be closed down. If he has to be unfair and rude to get money from people that is not the way. Thus was such a bad experience that I am glad to pay someone else and let him keep that little money I paid! read more

A horrible experience for me and my son. Two hours of torture. Unprofessional, racist, angry, negative. Bruce spoke about his personal information, his divorce, problems with his son, and more to my son. UNACCEPTABLE. A bad, bad experience. I am filing a complaint with the BBB. I asked for a refund and was denied. His web-site looked professional and there was a link to the web-site from the DMV.GOV website. I should have done my due diligence and looked up the business on the BBB web-site. Had I done this, I would have seen the negative filed complaints and saved myself nearly $300 and my son two hours of torture. read more
