I think the name of the woman I spoke with was Monica. As soon as she heard I had a ring from People's, all she would tell me is that I had to go there to have it repaired. I told her that I would rather pay more to have it fixed locally because People's sends it out East. I kept trying to mention my family ring (because I absolutely would NOT send that anywhere in case it got lost) but she refused to listen and just kept saying, "go back to People's!". I literally almost cried because I'm so attached to that ring and it breaking was already so stressful. Anyways, I went to Independent Goldsmith, paid twice what I would have at People's in order to keep it local, and received excellent service. I would not recommend LL Private Jewellers at all, absolute crap service.

They were real, honest and friendly during the consult, quoted me MUCH less than the others and said they'd have it 2 days later! I went to pick up my ring today and it fits perfectly, I realized the reviews were all true, they made me feel comfortable and extremely satisfied with the end result. It started with some simple repairs, sort of a test. I gave them a broken necklace and an heirloom bracelet in need of repair. They were quick, communicative, and did quality work, so we moved forward with my custom rings. The process of designing my dream set was better than I hoped for! I made an appointment with Linda, the daughter of the family business, and omg I ADORE her! Every design detail and curveball I threw her way she met with a "yes, and!" Euroshank? Excellent choice. Mixed metals in 14k instead of the more expensive 18k? We love durability! Lab diamond and moissanite? We're not snobs, bring on the double-refractive sparkle! It all started with choosing my center stone. Linda guided me through their supplier's inventory in a super personal process and gave me plenty of time to choose "the one". Then, I said goodbye to my current 5-year anniversary band so the stones could be integrated. Once everything was measured, it was inputted in their system for a design render. They got the engagement ring spot-on on the first try, completely understanding my vision! We went through maybe 5 different versions of bands to perfectly complement it, tweaking to my description until it was perfect. Then, they let me try the wax model and see my diamond, which was a surprisingly emotional experience. Then, with my written approval, it was time to build it. There was a tiny hiccup in sourcing the marquise-shaped moissanite stones, so they offered lab diamonds at no additional cost. But I was happy to wait the short two weeks to have them custom cut. (They were so sweet to avoid inconveniencing me and were on TOP of the communication this whole time! Linda was happy to text quick updates, which was my preference over email.) Less than 3 months after my initial appointment, my dream rings were on my finger. I cannot stop staring at them, they are so exquisite! Anthony, Linda's brother, facilitated the handoff, and he is a delightful young man with the hands of a craftsman. He removed the remaining stone from my old ring with tremendous care, which I took home for a future project. Plus he gave me very fair credit on my bill for the gold in the old setting (I didn't want it). I told them, and I meant it, that they have a customer for life. Linda told me to come by for free cleaning and inspections any time, and I will certainly take them up on that and sing their praises to anyone who asks. He charged well more than I've ever paid for that repair at other jewelers, took something like 6 weeks, and when I got it back he'd built the points so high that the ring was constantly snagging on things. Six months later, I took the ring in for a different repair elsewhere, and the jeweler pointedly asked if I needed the setting fixed, because the points were too high. Now, a few months later, one of the points has come off again and I'm back where I was a year ago, needing a new setting.

This business takes advantage of seniors and should be investigated for questionable activities…read more My 70-year-old aunt has a heart condition and required a medical bracelet that she wanted a simple engraving on, she could not afford the monthly cost of the official medic alert and just needed a way to tell emergency responders to not perform CPR due to her previous open-heart surgery. Unsure where to purchase one locally, the nurse who was visiting her did an online search and found this business. She called the location to see if they had them in stock and was told they had them and was quoted a price. When my aunt arrived at the shop, the salesperson, Mary, told her a different price. I think it went up by 30.00. She explained that the one my aunt picked out was different from the one quoted. Fair enough. So my aunt picked it out and she needed the engraving to say "No CPR. Do not resuscitate." About 20 or so characters, which they quote on their website as being $30.00 for 20 characters. When my aunt picked up the bracelet she was shocked when she was charged a grand total of $349.00, how does a bracelet that costs $135.00 dollars, plus engraving that should be about $30 dollars, translate to $349.00 when it should have been no more than $190.00 with engraving and tax? On top of that, the salesperson, Mary, was quite rude to my aunt. The bracelet was loose fitting but Mary kept telling her it was the right size even though it was big enough to slip up her forearm and get caught in things. They did at least resize it for her but not without convincing and Mary, being completely rude. They overcharged my aunt, a senior who is not well, and living on a very small senior income, by roughly 160.00. Do not shop here.

** Long review. For good reason **…read more I have waited more than a few months to write this review, as I didn't want to be hot-headed while doing so. To be clear, this review is to caution others who would like to avoid an experience like mine. I'd initially gone to The Engraving Place based on the positive reviews listed on Google. When I first visited, the owner/manager (?) of the shop, Mary dealt with taking my engraving order and she was wonderful and easy to deal with. I was bringing in my engagement ring (a silver, hand engraved band with an intaglio stone signet) for a custom hand engraving and had typeset the words in detail, which had cost extra but would have been well worth it. Then, picking up my ring and checking out the engraving - which was nice...I thought nothing of it. It wasn't until I WAS PROPOSING TO MY FIANCE, literally during the proposal, that we noticed the stone on the face of the ring had been completely replaced with a new one. It is still undetermined if they had replaced the entire ring in the process. This was done without any consultation, notice, or apology. They had simply hoped that we wouldn't be the wiser. IMMEDIATELY after proposing, I wrote to them asking what had happened and if they had replaced the stone without asking me. It was only then that they admitted to what happened. After much back and forth, they agreed to give me a refund, but only after I showed up at the shop demanding for one. Initially, they proposed to find me another ring and substitute it for the one that they damaged. Once more, I spoke to Mary, and not to the person who had supposedly broken and replaced the stone on the ring. If you have an item as personal and hard to find as a sentimental heritage or bespoke piece, I would not trust this establishment to handle your piece with care. Proceed with extreme caution.
