I came across this place on accident when I was trying to call a different local repair shop, but…read morethe number was listed incorrectly, and it was Don Coffey's number instead! I am so happy that happened. I spoke with Russ on the phone, explained what was wrong with my car, and he told me I could drop it off at my earliest convenience. I was worried about taking it there because I didn't have a ride home and would have to walk several miles. I told Russ this but he said they offer free rides to and from the shop, which really sold me on bringing the car here. I got there this morning right at 8am. I met Russ, who is quite possibly the nicest human I've ever met. He drove me home, discussed what he thought the issue with my car was, and even prepared me for best/worst case scenario. I appreciated his honesty and his willingness to help. He called me promptly after confirming the issue with the car, gave me a fair price, and told me it would be done today. He called me right when the car was done and even offered to come pick me up if I didn't have a ride. I was so pleased with this whole experience and I really feel like Russ eliminated all the stress I was feeling. I would highly recommend this shop.

The airbag sensor malfunction was not addressed. When my husband started the truck up just to see that still appeared, he asked why... apparently it costs a lot. Well buddy, we just dropped $2K - what's another few hundred bucks? We're trying to sell the truck in the end anyway. After my research online, the airbag sensor is a common problem and many folks were able to fix it themselves. Why didn't he just fix it for us? Likely because he wanted it out of his lot.

This place is the BEST. My family has been taking our cars there for years now, and we're so happy…read morethey're around. I've had old/used cars since I started driving, and from living out of town and going to other places, I've definitely experienced that phenomenon where mechanics will see you're a woman, assume you know nothing about cars, and try to take advantage. Asher's has NEVER treated me or my family that way. They are respectful, straight-forward, don't talk down to you, and above all are the most honest garage I've ever run across. If they aren't equipped to fix something, they won't make something up just to get more money out of you. They'll tell you straight-up, and they'll refer you to an honest shop who can fix what's needed. Every place we've gone they've recommended has been great, especially when you mention the Asher's name. This is the only place I will go for oil changes or minor work. They are a family-owned, small business, so their prices may be a little higher for some services than the corporate places, but you can be sure no one is pressuring them to upsell you on things you don't need, and you get to support a deserving local business. We go to them for all our car advice and have even had times when they've fixed small things for free (like the service I had the other day where there was a scary rattling noise I wanted them to check out-turned out to be something that was just loose. They fixed it with no charge) where other places would make something up to get more money. If you're in the Northville area, or anywhere even remotely nearby, here's a garage you can actually trust. Love, love, love them!!

I can't believe these guys don't have a review here yet…read more Honestly, the only reason I chose this place to being with was because it was within walking distance of where I live. I was a bit skeptical because I couldn't find a review ANYWHERE online about them, but upon the first phone call, I knew these guys were awesome. They gave me honest prices that were a lot less than I expected and even gave me a ride back to my place when I dropped my car off Monday morning, even though I fully expected to walk home (in the rain). I got rear-ended a week and a half ago, and my car was also having a hard time starting (completely separate issue). Roy and Ron technically don't do body work but Roy was able to figure out how he could fix my car so that my trunk would shut, and also within a couple hours figured out that it was my starter (not my alternator, as I was told elsewhere) + I needed a new battery. Though I told them to hold off on the new starter for now but definitely fix my trunk and replace the battery, I will definitely be back in a week or so to have them replace my starter, at a lot less than the competition whom I also checked with. Ron & Roy are good guys, very personable and funny, and won't rip you off. I highly recommend C&G, their service is beyond what you'd expect from your average mechanic or friend who "has a guy." It seems EVERYDODY "has a guy," and I've been ripped off by those guys in the past. Well, I don't "have a guy," that fixes my car, I now have two guys, and they're awesome.

I went to this shop because it was very close to my house, big mistake!…read more So I had my cylinders misfiring. They fixed that okay but then my axles had to be replaced so I said, sure please work on that as well. The car came back, everything was fine until a week later, I started to hear a weird noise in my driver side. The bearing went out. I took it back to their shop and had that replaced as well. After the bearing was replaced, drove it for 2 weeks and I started to hear this humming noise. I figured it was the bearing again. When I took it back to the shop to have them redo it, I told them the noise is coming from the driver side, the owner insisted that it was coming from the passenger side. The mechanic also said that it was on the driver side. Luckily I said let's focus on the driver side, please fix it. And so they did. I got the car with a spongy brake but no bearing noise. A day passed by and noise came back, only much worse!! I took it to a different shop this time. This other shop told me that they were scared when they were test driving my car. Very unsafe! Stay away, this place is a joke. Marked up cheap parts that they put on your car plus poor quality workmanship = potential disaster Never they will touch my car again. Yeah I lost money and time by going with them, I hope you guys won't make the same mistake I did!

My sister Ashley paid the first deposit for repair work for a 2012 Chevy Cruze on March 21st and…read morewas told by "Issam" that work on the vehicle would start on that day. She finished paying for the repairs in mid-April. She has followed up with Issam and other individuals at this business just about every week since and has been told that they will be done soon each time; however, the repairs have not been completed and the vehicle returned to her at the time of this writing, June 23. In addition, the vehicle was vandalized (i.e. the back seats were pulled out and left in an unnatural position, there was trash strewn about, and the title was stolen). My sister was not informed of the incident and discovered the issue herself only when she came to check on the status of the repairs on the vehicle in person on May 20th. Issam stated that he would not put the seats back where they should be. In Michigan, MCL 256.541, often called the Garage Keeper's Liability Act states, "Whenever any damage shall be done to any motor vehicle while in the possession or under the care, custody or control of the owner, his agent or servant, or the keeper of any public garage or other establishment where such vehicle shall have been accepted for hire or gain, proof of such damage shall be prima facie evidence that such damage was the result of the negligent act of such owner or keeper of the place where such vehicle was stored." My sister filed a police report. My sister has also noticed that repair work has been completed on serveral vehicles that came in after hers, even one owned by a family friend multiple times. She has requested a refund to be able to take the needed repair work to a shop that will complete the repairs in a timely manner; however, Abe1 Auto Repair would not agree to this. Her vehicle is essentially being held hostage. The next step is to reach out to the Better Business Bureau and regulatory bodies to seek resolution.

Long story short: Best Price (I checked with 3 places). Best customer service I've ever seen (if…read moreyou read the long story long I will give examples). Fast turn around time. Long story long: I went to two other places that do breaks and rotors. I waited at the other places for 35-53 minutes before I was given a quote. Not a big deal. At Brakes Xpress I only waited 18 minutes. Lawrence the mechanic was swamped and STILL made time to come out and sit with me and tell me what he noticed and to ask me what I noticed. I also got to see Eric who runs the front of the house in actions twice. The first time a woman in her late 50's early 60's pulled up in a car that had definitely seen better days. She came in almost belligerent. Making demands about how much it should cost her and she was being rude and interrupted Eric no less than 4 times as he tried to explain to her what she would most likely need repaired on her car. She insisted that she only needed the brakes done. Eric calmly with no change of inflection in his voice told her that she needed to get her rotors done as well as the brakes because if she only got the brakes done it wouldn't stop her steering column from shaking. Which she complained about. Eric took his time with her and let her interrupt him and still treated her very kindly. She came in almost mad for no reason and left apologizingly to Eric because she realized she had mistreated him. I have rarely seen someone so good with potential customers as Eric was. I didn't even have my quote yet but I was already certain this was going to be my new go to shop for my car. The second time was when I dropped off my car the following day for the work. A man went in the back to try and tell Lawrence what HE thought he wanted done. Lawrence kept his cool and kept trying to explain to the man why he needed to have certain things done. Pointing out stuff to the man. Eric went back to assists and everyone stayed calm. I was blown away. Eric and Lawrence make a great team. Truly. Lawrence whom had several cars he was working on came out and SAT with me. He clearly knows cars and still spoke to me like a human and even made some good jokes which I appreciated. He walked me through what he saw and recommended new brakes, rotors and 2 new front tires as I hadn't kept up with getting them rotated at every oil change. I was so happy to pay the bill in hopes these guys will continue doing such a great job and treating everyone so well.

I was supposed to have have four brakes/pads/rotors installed for $500. Wells, it was bait and switch. I was charged $800 for only the front set. Of course, no one ran it by me first. The manager is a talked and I think that's his shtick. He had the audacity to tell me that my vehicle needed a special type of brakes and that's why the price hiked. However, I went elsewhere and THERE WERE NO ISSUES INSTALLING FACTORING BRAKES. I'll never go back and I hope you stay away.
