I emailed the items she requested and later asked if the consultation was free or if there was a cost. I wanted to be prepared either way. I went ahead and confirmed an appointment for 2/10/2026. A couple of days later I called to follow up on the cost of the appointment. Roxanne informed me that the accountant I had been assigned to worked part time but assured me he would contact me about my concerns. As of 2/6/2026, I had not heard from anyone so I cancelled my appointment. I don't think my request was unreasonable and wonder why the information couldn't have been gotten by someone else in the office. There was no response to my email to answer my questions or attempt to reschedule. I reached out to Kalos because of their strong reviews on Yelp. I don't enjoy writing poor reviews, but I can only speak to my experience. It definitely wasn't five stars.

It's volume. Before the merger, they would take time to explain changes, forms, etc. Now it's a single reply and no follow-up. Pre-tax prep packet has become more confusing and complicated. A mistake was made in 2020/21 by them and me. I had to scramble in late 2021 to stop wage garnishment from the IRS. No reply/help from Greene/Dorff. And the prices have increased. Been using them since 2015 or so. I'm currently looking for a new CPA for my personal and business.

It took 17 days and a follow-up email from me to get any reply. When it came, none of the six questions were answered. What I got was a rough estimate he explicitly told me not to rely on -- "by no means should you use these for any official calculations" -- plus a note that his system couldn't calculate two of the taxes that applied to my return. The same email told me the firm would no longer be servicing my account. - Basically they fired me HA! I understand this was outside his wheelhouse. He said as much. But that's a conversation to have on day one, not after two and a half weeks of silence on a deadline-driven question. Being dropped as a client in the same message that answered nothing is what moved this from disappointing to worth writing about. I never did move my investments over. This experience made that decision for me -- which is worth mentioning, because the combined tax-and-wealth offering is what brought me in. If you're considering them for both, I'd want to see how they handle a complicated tax year before you hand over anything else. If I can't trust you for the little stuff, how can I trust you with the big stuff.
