The good: Boat was nice and seaworthy. They were definitely well stocked with tackle and fishing equipment for what looked like any type of fishing. The captain and first mate seemed to know what they were doing.
The bad: it did not feel like either the captain or the first mate wanted to be there... right from the first contact on the dock where the greeting was more of an acknowledgement than anything else... I can not say they did not know what they were doing.... but they certainly did not want to be doing it, nor share with us what they were doing. Not friendly to the point that my teenage son asked what he did wrong and why did the first mate not like him or was mad at him... We caught a few fish (2) on a full day charter. Based on what we saw when we got back to the dock others caught many more on shorter trips... Captain cleaned the fish, again, no conversation and not special instructions... and no ice (you can buy some at the store down the road). Other captains were cleaning fish, giving cooking instructions and helpful insights as well as putting fish immediately in ice-baths as soon as fileted... ours sat on the table then got put into unsealed bags that sat out on the fish station for who knows how many weeks....
Summary: There are a-lot of nice boats and experienced crews. Pass on this one and find one that wants to be out fishing. Their mood made dropping $1,200+ on the day feel like you lost your wallet.... it should feel like you cant wait to get it out of your pocket and schedule the next trip. read more
