My wife usually does all of our travel planning, but I wanted to surprise her for our anniversary. They took care of everything for me. We had never been to Italy before and they worked it out step by step. They arranged for our flights, our cruise, getting us an SUV (apparently they had to call and email many times to confirm as it is hard to get larger cars in Europe) to drive down to Sicily from Rome. They sent a note for the hotel concierge to arrange for a day trip to us to Venice via high-speed train, made sure every hotel we stayed at on the way down had a great room ready, and even made sure we had the right travel insurance in case something crazy happened and we needed to come home because my mom got sick, someone stole our passports or heaven forbid, we got sick in a foreign country. As it was our first time in Italy, it made us feel so much better to have the 24-hour concierge for anything we needed. I hadn't even known travel insurance offered that. I'm glad they took the time to explain because I said no at first because I thought it was just for if we canceled our trip. We will absolutely be using them again and recommending their consultants! One note: Even though they warned us, we did a gondola ride in Venice and it was just what they said--our dream of it was better than the reality. It cost $100 per person (extra if you wanted him to sing) and the canals were so crowded that the boats were bumping off of each other. There are 120 new ships coming out in the next 6 years. No wonder the cruise lines pay the travel agents to help--there are so many choices of cruise line, ship, itinerary and more. And the travel agent can often arrange for surprise extras like complimentary champagne or even better like when they see a deal come through and get your cabin repriced for less and save you money that you never saw coming! That's a nice surprise call to get! While it's nice to be able to stop by the office and pick up some brochures I can actually hold in my hand, one other neat thing is talking to a travel consultant and going through the experience to find out what really matters to make your trip awesome. I mean, some people think a great kids cruise means it's okay paying double to experience having breakfast with a mouse; while others think it means a full day kids program so parents can take a well-deserved break; while some parents want a more interactive kid program that includes learning to sail together or attending a family pizza party and just making a pizza together...no texting or streaming videos...actually just talking and laughing together. How often does that happen in today's crazy world? Time goes by so quickly that it is imperative to make opportunities to renew your romance with your spouse, really talk--and listen--to your kids, remember that grandma will not be here forever, do that girl's trip you've been talking about for 8 years...not wait around for free time to just happen. read more

The team at Expedia Cruises was amazing. They were so helpful and I did not know how much I did not know. There are so many choices and I was going off a friend's recommendation but did not realize that the Royal ship they liked was cheaper because it was older. We opted to spend a get more and go on the huge ship as we love all the activities and loved the idea of the Central Park balcony. I used to book everything myself, but in talking to the consultants realized that there were a ton of cruise lines I had never heard of. One cost less than Royal when you added on the drink package and gratuities, which were included in the 5-star suite they got us on. It was great to run ideas by them. They promised they could match any price and offer the cruise lines put out there and give us Expedia Extras--all that and make sure we are on just the right ship for us. When I told my friends, they said, "Why use a travel agent?" I say instead, "Why not use a travel agent?" While I was there, they were having a contest where you guessed the number of items in the suitcases to win a 7-night balcony cabin cruise on Norwegian. I thought there had to be a catch, but my neighbor in Windermere won it. I've never seen someone so excited! read more

Should be no stars. I booked a hotel through Expedia and it was not as advertised. I explain why I left this hotel and went elsewhere. EXPEDIA WILL NOT REFUND MY MONEY. The hotel is called Custom Stay Residence and Suites. Fancy name but it is bad, It is the type of motel most travellers avoid. Unfortunately I booked with expedia. I showed up around 6:30 PM on Feb 3. I was given a key to a room. First thing I noticed was that the room was small, dingy and COLD. The radiator was on but could not be adjusted by the occupant. The second thing was that the tv did not work. Went and complained and was given another room, The condition of the room was the same. Tyhe room did not have a remoten the remote worked from the first room. But the tv was not hooked up and not recieivng signals. I could luve without the tv. I went to take a shower and after 5 minutes there was no hot water. That was it, I returned the key and the manager apologized. Whoopee when Expedia contacted the motel they did not want to return my money. Contacting Hutchinson Chamber of Coomerce, Better Business Bureau and the Minnesota state department that handles this issue. read more

The family voted and instead of presents we're doing another family cruise! No dang turkey and ham cooking for me! The lady who helped me, Sally, was so helpful and found us a ridiculously inexpensive Christmas cruise out of Tampa that even included a drink package, wifi and free money. It was nuts and will actually cost less than entertaining the family at the over-crowded parks for the holidays! So excited! read more

Lynn just put together another fabulous all-inclusive resort vacay for us. I'm so glad we found her as we had never even heard of the resort she recommended, but it met every one of our vacay wish list items.
