I wish I had something better to say. The owner is rude, cold ..unapologetic for her lack of communication. Treated me poorly after contacting her about fees added on to my bill I was unaware of until I seen my checking account. She said it is posted on the door. Well I hate to say every square inch of the window and door has some sort of sign advertisement of some sort which to someone walking in can be overwhelming. I was new to the store and now that her true colors come out with her nasty disposition I won't be returning. I explained to her some kindness ,understanding and being upfront with charges would go a long way in keeping her doors open despite her believe of hiding and charging someone behind their back. read more

We have purchased an expensive dog food for several years from Exotic Jungle. They have a deal that you purchase 10 bags (74.99 per bag) and receive the 11th one free. They keep a card of each purchase. We were due for our free bag last month. When we went to the store our purchase card was missing. The sales person apologized and said the owner had some cards with her. So we paid for another bag. This month we went back and the card is still missing. Needless to say we purchased a bag somewhere else. The owner yelled at the sales person for calling her on her time off and said she can't just give away food. No problem. We will not purchase anything else there. read more

Very good small business and the people there will help you, they just aren't knowledgeable on every animal they have, if you know what you want which you should, it's great with amazing prices. Just be sure to know what animal you want or what you want for your animal. read more

I should've listened to my gut and I'm so mad at myself for not doing it! This store is in horrible condition and dirty, which is apparent from the time you walk in. I was there for fish on Saturday around 5pm. Now it is Sunday morning around 10am and I'm already down a fish! I noticed when I was in the store, a lot of the fish just didn't act right. They were swimming like they were drunk and wobbly. I can say, the customer service boy was very nice and helpful, but the manager lady was not pleasant at all. Ughh I'm just kicking myself for not immediately walking out of the store when I noticed the conditions, let alone the fish behavior. No, I am not a fish expert but I am not inexperienced either. I have had fish live happy for the past 10 years. My tank was set up and running for a week, my ph balance was good... I just don't see how this blame can be on me. Lesson learned! I will listen to my gut next time. read more

The store is an absolute mess, you can barely walk through. The employees don't seem to have much knowledge of what they have or even the prices of what they have. I use a pet safe brand self cleaning litter box for my cat, I buy the refills at Petco for under $25 and sometimes less as they go on sale often. I didn't want to drive across town so decided to see if The Exotic Jungle had them. I went in and found one laying in the floor all by itself, couldn't find a price, couldn't find the spot it belonged to locate a price. Do I take it to the register and stand there for 5 minutes waiting for someone to check me out. Finally a girl showed up and she cannot figure out the price either. By this time I'm 25 minutes into a quick stop to grab this item. So she pulls out her phone and is searching around for what seems like an eternity and then she lays her phone down and says $39.99 plus tax. Almost double what I generally pay. Now I'm all for supporting local businesses and I understand that there is a cost that comes along with that, but to try and charge me virtually double what this item costs elsewhere is preposterous! So I told her I'm not going to pay that, petco has them at half that price. She said that Petco must get them from another supplier. read more

I used to have good experiences with this place . Over the past year I have spent around $600 in their store . I'm all about supporting small, local businesses , but my support for this store stopped today . I have bought close to 40 fish from this place over the past year . I am a betta breeder , so I know how to properly set up a tank and let it cycle and test the water . Out of those 40 fish , none are alive today . I started going to Petco for my fish and supplies and every single one has lived ( if one would happen to die , they refund you if you bring it back ). Also the same things can be found at petco for about half the price . The owner jacks up the prices so much it's outrageous . The fish are ridiculous prices and they never make it more than a week . It's sad the conditions these animals are living in , but then they talk to you like you're the one who has no idea what youre doing when it comes to caring for animals. The lecture on "over crowding the tanks while they stand beside a 10 gallon tank with almost 30 fish in it . ) I also tried to buy a leopard gecko from them (They charge literally twice what Petco does for one and they aren't even healthy ) and the very rude worker told me that my tank wasn't good enough after showing her a picture of my tank with live plants and rocks and things for the gecko to be happy (I was on my way to Petco right after that to get my order I had placed for the rest of my supplies such as a heating pad, UV light etc... ) and she tried to tell me I needed to pay almost $100 in total for supplies right then and there from them to set up my tank . I told her I was going to Petco to get them because it was cheaper and she got EXTREMELY rude with me and immediately had an attitude. I own my own business and I wouldn't even imagine treating customers like that . Note to the owner : if you want business from the community, treat your customers with respect. Also the animals deserve more respect !!!! read more

Did not have a very pleasant experience. Went in asking questions about my two pythons. Best bedding, what type of lights, heating source etc. The woman I spoke with had very short answers and acted like I was just annoying her by asking questions. I had to follow her around the store while she was putting stock away. She asked me the set up I currently had, (pine bedding, ceramic light) then proceeded to shame me for my decisions. Over and over telling me that I am going to harm my pets and shaking her head... then went to her co worker, who I think was the manager or owner, and told her what I was doing. They both were shaking their heads and talking about how bad I was taking care of my pets... it was very uncomfortable and a bit humiliating. I will never go back, in fact, I will discourage anyone from spending their money at this establishment. Very poor customer service. read more

I bought crickets from the Exotic Jungle once and my Bearded Dragon's cage became infested with some kind of small bugs the crickets were carrying. Later, I got a tip once that a seriously ill ferret they were trying to sell wasn't getting any veterinary attention. I went up to have a look at it to see if I could help. I calmly told one of the workers what I had heard and she went to tell what she said was her boss and came back to me saying I wasn't allowed to see it. That was disturbing. read more

I have been successfully and ethically keeping reef, pond, and discus fish for over 20 years. My small pond is now slow moving only fish, deep and I don't let it freeze. I went in to get an Oranda fancy goldfish. The OWNER said no you need a koi (I have a 400 gallon water garden and koi need 1000 gallons ponds) and DUMPED the fish back in the aquarium and WALKED away and didn't say another word. I was speechless. If you want mistreated reptiles, dying saltwater fish, bad advice, or to support a truly rude woman by all means shop here. I appreciate the variety that The Exotic Jungle has in terms of pet food and other products, but the store looks very run down. It's not organized, always looks dirty, and the animals they sell don't look very healthy or happy. The staff is friendly and I am able to order cases of specialty food for my cats here, so that bumps up the stars for me. read more

I discourage people to go here. The customer service is terrible, I have worked in customer service before and usually when a place is closed you lock the door so no customers come in... the door was open and we got attitude about how they are closed. I respected her and just walked out. I have been there multiple times, and every experience has been disappointing. I'm not an expert in animals but all the animals are in terrible enclosures but are the first ones to make rude comments about your enclosures, their live feed (roaches, crickets) they are terrible.. and terrible quality. I feel so bad for all the reptiles, fish and rodents that they have. Their cockroaches are fed dry dog food, and that becomes very dangerous to feed your reptiles. I understand that business and especially small businesses that they are stressed out because of Covid-19 but that isn't a reason to be rude to customers about walking in. If you want to get good live feed for better quality and nice people look up mountaineer exotics they have great bearded dragons, feed for all reptiles and all at a reasonable prices. read more

I have been a long time customer of Exotic Jungle and had always had good experiences, the lady that I am guessing is part owner is always there and working hard, very nice and helpful(dark curly hair lady) anyone who shops here knows who I'm talking about, anyways she is great however the other lady(who must be part owner, never see her there very often but not surprised seeing how she is not professional at all) displays complete horrible customer service, I wanted to buy large crickets and was told they were out so I had to get small cause the lady behind the counter said that's all they had, ok so when she gives me the bag they are tiny and will not be enough for what I am feeding so I asked if maybe they could throw a few extra in to make up for not having the large, the lady that I guess is a part owner (light brown hair) cuts in and says "no you can pay for them" with a real attitude, that's fine if they can't do that but I just asked a question and she was super rude about it, so I said I guess I won't get them, then and she says "oh I made him mad" in a mocking voice, I work in customer service and if we don't have what the customer wants we try to go out of the way to offer a discount or something else, not an attitude. I didn't even care about not throwing in extra crickets but this lady is horrible at her job and I see why she must be in the back more times then not and let's the professional lady deal with the customer, then to top it off another customer comes in right after and asks for the same thing...large crickets and magically they have some left, really.., I will never shop here again and I will let everyone know of this encounter, I can't wait till they go out of business, by the way in your in Morgantown go to animal house they treat people with respect.I have a felling this lady has a grudge with men, just a feeling. read more

This place is a bit more "homey" and cluttered, but is cheaper than Petco. It also offers a lot more stuff and I prefer to buy from them. Plus I got my blue monk parakeet from them for half the price Petco was selling them for (and he's utterly precious, no regrets there!). read more

I purchased a bird there for my daughter for Christmas and it was acting odd so they advised me to bring him back in, they took a look at him and said he was just lonely and needed a friend and recommended I purchase another one. We do what they suggest then head home, a couple days later my daughter finds the first one which I took to them lifeless in the bottom of the cage. I contacted them and with several attempts to speak to the owner I'm told they will replace him, well we agree to surprise my daughter with him the coming weekend. A day later the second one dies while my fiance was letting him sit on her shoulder on the couch, he just did this odd shake thing and fell over. Now livid I take him straight there and they advise me they are now not replacing either of the birds and my house is the cause of their death and has radon or carbon monoxide issues but I'm finding that interesting as we have a cockatiel and a ruby macaw that have been here for over a year. The owner treated me like I was an idiot, had no idea what I am talking about and her birds had absolutely no issues. I'm not the only person who has gotten pets from there which have died soon after leaving the store and were treated terrible so do your research and I highly recommend going somewhere else to get a pet. After all this I went to Petco and got my daughter a green cheek conure and would ya believe he has been here for almost 3 months now and is happy healthy and active! I will not ever step a foot back into the exotic jungle!!!! read more

Although the employee was welcoming and friendly, the condition of the store was poor. There was raw fish sitting out by the snake cages and it felt dirty and unkept inside. I was extremely upset when I saw newborn baby hamsters mixed in with all the other hamsters...and there were baby rats just born, eyes shut and no fur, one DEAD, also mixed with all the other rats. This is not the way to care for babies and it should not have ever happened...females and males should have been separated! These animals deserve a better life! read more

Can't believe the prior review. My experience with the staff and owner was very good. What she didn't know, she looked up. I remember when this store opened many years ago.
