I stayed here for several days while on a trip for work. If you need to go to the Met (UK…read moreMeteorological Office) or anywhere else in the Exeter Business Park and want to stay within walking distance, this is one of your only 2 choices. I didn't check out the other hotel (Rok?). I would definitely be happy to stay here again if I had business in the area. Clean, well kept, and the people are friendly. Parking is free and plentiful. If you're able to drive on the left side of the road, it's only a few minutes drive into Exeter proper. Truth be told, I'm better off not driving on the 'wrong' side, so I took the bus most days. The front desk staff steered me wrong on the bus schedule and route numbers, but I have to admit the bus routes are a little confusing. I had to go on trial and error. On the plus side, the buses stop right across the street. This hotel has a bar with some light snacks and provides the typical free breakfast (which is very good!), surprisingly similar to the one you get at Holiday Inn Express hotels in the United States. The only restaurant within walking distance is the Barn Owl, but it is good food.

The rooms are not a bad size, although the double bed that I have is not really double sized, so they lied to me there. Lots of tv channels on a big screen tv and there is a kettle with coffee and tea available in the room. Best is the breakfast - scrambled eggs, beans, toast, sausages, etc.

The midsized rooms nice but a bit tight for space, and the rooms smaller than 226 square feet are really a no-go for couples. There is parking in the forecourt, subject to availability, and a great breakfast for only £10. However, what this hotel really has going for it is location. Right across from Exeter Central and close to the shopping district.

Yes, the room was a little warm and some of the other guests were a little loud (I think there was a school party in!) but what the hotel could control was really good. I agree that the hotel feels a little dated, but the duty manager showed us around the impressively refurbished (but at the time unopened) restaurant and informed us that the third floor was also being done up. The breakfast spread is pretty impressive and I found every member of the team professional, knowledgeable and friendly.

Staff are friendly and great breakfast included, always well cooked, a good range. One of the nicest b&b's in Exeter. Nice decor in the rooms, modern. Ended up inside Flora Poste. Not sure what she is but the quotes and pictures suggested that you might find her in an unbearably tedious period drama (is there any other kind?). I suppose it was intended to be an upgrade! And the room was very very nice.I should say! The location is a good one, between the main station and the centre of town. The hotel is in a lovely old building too! The price is very good value. I guess the breakfast was a bit limited but that is generally not my priority.

I guess they probably open it all up at busy times. There were only two ales on when I visited, but one of them was a really good stout from Wychwood, that I had never encountered before. The food menu looked good so I decided to give it a try and had a delicious mild beef curry. The pub/hotel has been around for centuries!

We enjoyed the modern interior and competent kitchen, especially as MC offers great value 2- or 3-course menus. There were five of us and we mixed a number of courses so we shared desserts with no issues. The kitchen was a little slow but we were hair with the quality of the food. Parking could be difficult in the front of the hotel but I found a car lot around the corner with pay and display.
