I purchased a reclaimed wood plank with the idea that I could turn it into a project. I decided it would make a great fireplace mantle, but because it wasn't long enough, reached out to Mr. Fen by email in the hopes he could help me create a mantle by adding additional pieces of wood to it. I'll be honest, I was actually expecting to get no response. Contractors that I have reached out to in the past have been pretty unresponsive. This was certainly not the case with Mr. Fen, who called back immediately and left a detailed vm explaining to me that additions made to the existing plank (which he identified from my photos as reclaimed fir) would look tacky, would not be the way to go, but that I should be able to find a piece of reclaimed fir in the dimensions I needed. He also offered suggestions as to where I could search. Wow! How incredibly refreshing to find someone so responsive and willing to help that is getting absolutely nothing from it. Mr. Fen's professionalism, expertise, patience and kindness are qualities I look for in a contractor, and because of this experience, we are hoping to be able to contact Mr. Fen to help us with our next renovation. read more

I found Mr. Fen on the internet when I googled "couch repair" Mr. Fen did a quality job on repairing a fine leather Italian sectional couch. He fixed the metal frame on the couch re-inforced it with a stronger piece and attached additional legs. I was pleased with the care and attention to detail Mr. Fen took in his handling of the couch. David fabricated some wooden pieces to replace damaged and worn parts of a large children's building set. His pieces matched or exceeded the quality of the originals. A couple of pieces came to us blemished by the work of an assistant, but he replaced those at no cost to us, no questions asked. He even did a bunch of research on a prototype for a plastic fastener (seemingly beyond his advertised skill set) that we had trouble replacing.
