Overall a negative experience. I put my 93 year old grandmother in this facility for a six week respite period. She has Alzheimer's but was physically healthy and strong when I put her in. During that time, their doctor came in and changed her meds without my permission. He took my grandmother off her appetite pill with no explanation causing her to lose over 12 pounds. She was 5 foot and 126 pounds when she went in. This caused her health to weaken and she was frail and unstable when I brought her home. I told the head nurse of my assessment, but she said that she thought my grandmother was fine. Her regular doctor disagreed. Furthermore, her clothes were in the laundry when I went to pick her up. I tried to pick the clothes up two more times but was unable despite being told they would be waiting for me at the nursing station. I asked for a call back about the laundry (which is clearly labeled with her first and last name) but never received one. I called today and was told that they would have to check to see if her clothes were even still at the facility. In addition, it seems that my grandmother was taken to the emergency room for a fall. There was no phone call to me about this. I only found out when I received a bill from the hospital. I also left my mother's phone number, but there was no record of my mother's number on my grandmother's forms. Furthermore, the nurse did not include all of my grandmother's meds when they sent her home with me so I had to go back to get the meds. And they did not give my grandmother her daily vitamins and calcium. Lastly, I don't think they bathed my grandmother. She was dirty and stinky when I picked her up. Shameful and horrible!!!

They made sure that I was comfortable in the setting, that all of my needs were taken care of, and then I felt sure about the diagnosis and where to go from there. I will add, when I left, it had started to get dark and there was a parking lot security officer who made sure I even got to my car safely. I tried to tell her I had recently took a flight to Miami, Florida to see family - but she cut me off, saying: my symptoms were not consistent with covid-19 & that she was not going to "waste a test on me". My husband and I were stunned at her response! She made me feel as if I was "acting" or "seeking attention". It was a HORRIBLE experience! The worst one I have ever had - To feel that sick & be treated so poorly by a medical professional. It's not right!!! In the end, she did order a chest X-ray, but did not do any other tests. She smugly told me that the x-ray was clear, "as she knew it would be". I went to work the next few days - I'm a high school teacher. Four days later my husband had to rush me to the hospital b/c I could not breath. I tested positive for influenza A, influenza B, Epstein Barr - & COVID-19! I was sent to Houston and hospitalized immediately. My husband had to contact the school. By God's grace, none of my students tested positive for covid-19. Hindsight is 20/20. I should have questioned her... gone to Beaumont for another opinion. But I trusted her b/c she is a medical professional! I've debated writing this review. I live in Mauriceville. My children have grown up here & I love my small town. My PCP is in Orange, my dentist in Vidor. So I did not want to cause problems. However, the lady that treated me should be aware that she was dead wrong & that her negligence could have caused an unimaginable amount of repercussions!! I could have died, leaving my husband and children alone. I could have infected all of my 157 students. I could have infected my family, friends... So many things could have happened.
