First of all, this establishment claims that it "empowers students to be innovative and creative problem solvers." However, this statement completely contradicts what I went through. When I was a freshman in high school, I was placed into an honors math class and felt that I was prepared for the year ahead of me. This honors class was one of the hardest classes I've ever taken even though I had taken the exact same class in eighth grade. My math teacher would often say that "You guys have seen this before" or "You guys should know how to do this from middle school." I didn't. I had no idea what I was doing when I got to high school and felt incredibly behind from all of my peers. The fact that the subject I felt the least prepared in was math coming from a self-proclaimed "STEM Academy" was beyond me. I know my limitations and math was not it. I had all A's in math while attending this school. One of the biggest things I NEVER learned in Algebra I at IC was mean/median/mode. I remember that everyone of my peers in that freshman year Honors Algebra I class already knew this from middle school.

There are a couple things that I think are worth pointing out to highlight. Curriculum This is no glorified day care where kids are playing all day. There is structured time for the kids throughout the day. My kids learned important life skills needed in the classroom, and had plenty of time to learn through play as well. Teachers The teachers our boys had were incredible. Kind, caring, intentional, engaging, patient, and supportive. But if I can highlight one thing, is that they are excellent at communicating with parents. They really helped to foster a parent/teacher partnership to help reinforce important values being taught. They helped thinking of out of the box approaches to help students become more engaged, and pass those along to parents. Any concerns were brought up promptly and were addressed. His vocabulary has expanded so much, he comes home singing Christian worship songs, and he's even started picking up Spanish words and singing songs in Spanish that he learned at school. Those little moments truly warm my heart because we get to see firsthand how much he is absorbing throughout his day. I also really appreciate the communication and involvement they provide for parents. We receive weekly schedules so we can follow along with what the children are learning and reinforce those lessons at home. His teachers have also been patient and communicative as we navigate milestones such as potty training, and I appreciate their willingness to work together with us and hear what has been successful at home. Most importantly, we love knowing that our children are learning in a Christian environment where faith is incorporated into their everyday experience. We also have a second grader at ACS, so our experience extends beyond the preschool program. We've been able to see firsthand the quality of education he is receiving while also watching him continue to grow in his knowledge and understanding of God. She couldn't even give him less than 5 seconds of her attention. She straight up turned away WHILE he was talking to her to go chat away with another staff member. I don't know if she was just rude or being racists because from what it looked like, that place consisted of probably about 90% "white people." Even when we first got there, no one came up to us to help or direct us on where to go. Thought this school could have been a good fit from other reviews but nope!
