Ynysangharad War Memorial Park. Now try saying that when you're sober! This park is an excellent…read moreplace to visit and enjoy the many activities they have to offer. You can bring the family down and enjoy the park area with a giant swimming pool and play area for the children. Or you could play tennis on the number of outdoor courts they have. Or you could do what I like to do; play on the pitch and putt golf course they have. I remember when I first visited the park and I was surprised by the size of it. It is a huge mass of land that holds all sorts of fun. I have to talk about the pitch and putt golf course. When I used to think of the word 'Golf' I thought of men in silly looking trousers walking for miles to find a little white speck on the floor. Then I actually played on the course and it was fun. You don't have to know how to play golf because the courses aren't even that long. All you have to do is pay £3.50 for two clubs and a ball (that price also includes a £1 deposit) and if you're a student it costs a lot less. This was a great way to spend a day rather than sitting indoors playing pretend golf on the Nintendo Wii. If you are stuck what to do for a day then visit Ynysangharad War Memorial Park because all will have a fun day!

I loved coming here today. What a beautiful little park just across the bridge over the River Taff…read morefrom the town centre. There are delightful paths to follow bordered by lovely old trees. Lots of grassy areas, raised flower beds which are well kept and full of spring flowers. There is a play area for children with swings and climbing frames, tennis courts, and plenty of benches where you can sit. You can't escape the sound of traffic in the distance but it's still a great park.

This place should be better than 2 stars as it is and could be even more so such a good facility…read more The building is good and the facilities are great. The staff are in the main very helpful. However .... The signs asking people remove their shoes before going in to the changing rooms are ignored by many people so the cubicle floors of the changing rooms end up filthy. The staff walk back and forth ignoring the point and I have never seen them ask a shoe wearer to remove their shoes. So expect to come out of there with dirty feet. The pool is rarely at 50m and when it is it is often very busy. Monday and Thursday nights can be quieter if you aren't too tired to train at 10pm ... In the mornings and now at weekends many of the lanes are taken by the swimming club. Not an issue but expect the other lanes to be crowded and have people of varying ability in each lane. If you are a quick swimmer expect to be frustrated as you dawdle behind a breast stroker waiting for a safe moment to overtake them. The pool is regularly booked out for galas and swim events at weekends and the information/warnings about these events is very discrete or difficult to find so be prepared for Saturday / Sunday morning disappointment and wasted trips. The pleasure pool is mayhem. The lifeguards do a good job but expect to be kicked by other swimmers, by bumped into, swam over/into and come out feeling the most unrelaxed you ever will. As a venue for promoting healthy lifestyle this place surpasses itself. Not!!! For those who bother to use the benches to remove or put on shoes, there is a glittering array of chocolates and sugary drinks in four vending machines, ideally located opposite you. If you or your children manage to get passed them, there are more sugary calorie dispensers by the exit turnstiles and just in case you haven't managed to give in to the sugar, there are 4 more vending machines on the way out. Only the British would fill a "healthy" sports venue with obesity causing, tooth rotting filled vending machines. So, while you are trudging home in the dirty foot rot of other people from the changing rooms, you can comfort yourself with chocolate and fizzy pop to remind yourself what a healthy life you live!

I love this pool and the centre itself. It looks fantastic and its great inside too. Whether your…read morethere to relax and have fun with the kids or to do a serious bit of swimming there is a place for you. Its easy to access and has lots of parking too. There is a gym, sauna, jacuzzi and do all sorts of fitness classes too for quite a reasonable monthly fee. Swimming for adults is £3.70 and no time limit. Family tickets also available. The only downsides are that the changing rooms can be a bit chaotic and its always worth checking out whats going on before you head down because they often have events on at the weekend so you might not get in.

However, I realise that someone with small children might not like to have their kids see that, so don't go to Redland Park if this is the case. It's divided into two, with a fenced kids playground area and a grass area with a pretty rose bed. The kids area is really safe, with the fence keeping the kids in and the various equipment keeping them entertained. I should mention that there is a railway line bordering the park - there's a very high fence and loads of trees and bushes blocking it. The park attracts lots of mums with their kids (as well as a few from the local secondary school), which gives your kid ample opportunity to learn the importance of sharing! The grassy area is perfect for lounging around. It's on quite a steep hill so you shouldn't get disturbed by footballers. All that's missing is the nice view, which is blocked by some trees unfortunately (that's not to say I think the trees should be cut down, though). This half completes St. Andrews Park, making it a pleasant spot whatever your age.

It's one of my favourite roads in Bristol, the kind of place you could see being filmed for some sort of period drama as a result it's regal English beauty. The park itself is an equal gem, with a bowls court, tennis court, and really spacious hilly greenery to just relax on. They have a fayre on Mayday each year, which gives it a real buzz with all the stalls from local shops in the area - it's definitely a place to go at that time of year (right behind the may fair at Henleaze school!). It's a park for all ages, with a really nice vibe, a good size and in a nice neighbourhood - thumbs up all round.

This tennis club may seem a little out of the way, you will have to traverse a gate, pass a…read moredangerous looking electrical store, and go under a darkened bridge, but on the other side is a local tennis club that boasts three fully-functioning courts with floodlights to boot. There is a sense of community at the club, it being run by locals that put a lot of time into it. It was only a few years ago that a brand new two-story club house was installed with shower and toilet facilities, a kitchen, and a TV should the unpredictable Welsh weather catch you off guard. It is a members-only club, and membership fees are varied depending on your intended involvement with the club, but all details can be found on their website. They offer coaching for kids and adults should you feel the need to brush up on your play, and they encourage participation in competitions with other tennis clubs around the area. It's a place to go and have a casual game with another friend or three, or there are certain evenings when going alone will not mean hitting the ball against a wall for two hours, as certain nights encourage particular groups to arrive. Tuesday night is Ladies' night, Wednesday night is Men's night, and Thursday is mixed. Depending on what you want out of the club you can pick your time of arrival. Though, it is general etiquette that two guys playing on a Tuesday should vacate the court if enough Ladies show up, as it is their priority. Who said chivalry's dead? Once you're a member, the opening hours of this establishment are really up to you as you get your own key to the place, but it tends to be accepted that it closes at around 10pm. An unwritten rule is: 'If there is danger of hitting a low-flying bat with a ball, it might be time to go home.'
