I used one of the best in Ann Arbor for my 2 but they would not even talk to me except by email when I tried to even get an appointment to come in to talk about my idea. Told me their weekends were booked until November. So after looking at Yelp for a local place, I called here. Told I didn't have to have an appointment to talk and they are open on the weekends, I came in with my idea. Given an appointment for the next Sunday and left my ideas for the artist. But that artist had to cancel due to Covid so the shop worked to get me in as quick they could. I came in on a Tuesday after work. My artist, Andrew Heithecker, was excited and had the library card catalog drawer drawn out but wanted me there to get the cards and the dragon tail right. He hit it on the Head. He could even get the numbers on the cards with marks for the words. Andrew worked quickly and pulled the colors he knew would be the best. Less than 2 hours later he was done and the price was more than fair for the amount of work he put in. While I probably won't get another tattoo, I will recommend this place and artist to others who want a great tattoo. Since I posted pictures of my tattoo on a weird librarian Facebook page and it is a big hit, if any of those who live locally might want to come here also. Clean shop, safe procedures, and many different artists.

She does absolutely beautiful work. In fact, everyone here has beautiful work. Every single artist here is truly that, an artist! They regularly have their own personal art hanging on the walls of the building. Every few months, they also have gallery events for new art shows they're hosting! The interior is super clean. The girl running the desk is very nice and efficient, and setting appointments is easy-peasy. They're very welcoming, especially to someone who had never walked into a tattoo shop before and wasn't just getting a tiny black and white piece. Jon has done 4 of my tats not to mention the SLAMMIN one he placed on my ear a few yrs ago that I still to this day get compliments on..I have an appt for him to do yet another one. A IN MEMORY OF tattoo for my mother ,who just passed away the end of Feb. As I told Jon what I wanted in this tattoo,I became emotional and started to cry. Jon though still professional came from around the counter and with his big teddy bear self. and hugged me. And told me to take a deep breath..it will be ok..and tell me how you want your tattoo .. Awesome experience! I only went in to have my double lobe piercing but they were very nice and took me in as a walk-in right away. Super clean shop and not intimidating at all for someone who's never stepped foot in a parlor before. Mary pierced my ears and they look great! read more

Essentially you're walking in to get judged & overpay for a jail yard tattoo...wish I was kidding. I said I wish you had told me that at 10:00 this morning, and the whole time this other guy keeps interjecting himself into the conversation. They asked me to fill out their long form that I filled out when I had the original tattoo done, and while I understand that it is required, it's just about the way they explained it. I've been going to Happy for piercings for about 4 years. He has done my septum, my tongue and my VCH. I have other piercings (nose, nipples, labret, ears) so I am measuring my experience against those experiences. Happy pierced my septum in 2008; it was $25. He was friendly and so was his wife, and they put me at ease since I had come in alone. That is one of the best things about this shop - you can come in alone without feeling awkward or jittery, because Happy and his wife will immediately put you at ease. I never had any problems with my septum. He pierced my tongue a year later, in 2009 (also $25), and again I went in alone. This time he began to pierce my tongue and then had to start over because I flinched; to me, that is a testament to his honesty and work that he would tell me hey, wait, lets start over. I know of several people who have had piercings done at other places, placed incorrectly, and one has to wonder if at any time the piercer saw that something was not right and said nothing in order to save face. But Happy is not like that, and he quickly righted things. I never had any problems with my tongue. The last time that I went to Happy was in December of 2011. This time I brought my sister and I got my hood pierced (for $50). I was a bit nervous about this piercing, especially because of the area. But Happy and his wife again put me at ease. The piercing itself took a second, there was barely any pain, and healed in under a week. I recommend Happy all the time.
