If you want people to come and enjoy and support and encourage others to come and support for more shows, do not talk to them like you are doing them a favor for them to spend their money, energy, their time and their attention. I recommend actors to select a different theatre for acting, because the energy of the leaders is off.

I ordered my tickets on Friday, July 21, 2017 which has an 8:00 p.m. curtain, but started at 7:30 p.m. I took the night off from my work to attend this play with my fiancé and was disappointed when I was informed that the play had already begun when we arrived. The next day, I wrote a letter outlining my disappointment to True Colors with a request to receive two (2) complimentary tickets for another play in 2018 given the fact that I would be away on business for the duration of 2017. "Holler, If Ya Hear Me" closes in October 2017. On Thursday, September 21, 2017, I received a call from Chandra Stephens-Albright, True Colors Managing Director, in reference to my letter. Mrs. Stephens-Albright acknowledged that True Colors was at fault for changing the time. When I told Mrs. Stephens-Albright that I hadn't been notified of the change of time, she said a few other patrons had also complained, and that I could see the play again for free. After informing her that I wouldn't be available before the play closed, she said that they would not provide complimentary tickets for another play, and would not refund my purchase. It is surreal for a business to admit its error, and then to not reimburse a customer as a result of the error. Edward Brown

For years, we've wanted to see The Sleepy Hollow Experience at Serenbe Playhouse, but haven't been…read moreable to make it out for one reason or another. One reason is because this show has been sold out for six seasons straight. You have to plan ahead. After finally attending The Sleepy Hollow Experience this past weekend, I can see why it consistently sells out. It's good! We bought our tickets a little over two months in advance. My friend purchased the tickets for us and got us a great deal that worked out to $31 per person after any taxes and fees. Tickets are regularly $50 per adult, $45 per student/senior, and $60 per VIP (not sure what that includes). In 2019, The Sleepy Hollow Experience is playing September 27th through November 3rd. Shows occur Wednesday through Sunday nights. There's a family-friendly daytime version that takes place at 2pm on Saturdays and Sundays. The show is rated "PG" and includes "light sexual innuendo and a handful of scares." The scares are jump scares. Serenbe Playhouse is an outdoor, immersive theater. You walk around a big set, in nature, with the actors and even have opportunities to interact with them. The concept is neat and a lot of fun. It's different and can be a lot more interesting than your typical theater experience where you just sit and watch a performance play out on stage. At The Sleepy Hollow Experience, we watched most of the acts while standing. One act did have chairs and benches for sitting. Shows go on in the rain, so come prepared. Pay attention to the weather forecast and wear comfortable clothes and shoes. Bring layers if needed. You'll be outside the entire time, standing on dirt, clay, grass, gravel, dead leaves, branches, etc. If conditions are wet, it can get muddy. For night shows, consider bringing a flashlight or using the light on your phone to help you get around. Restrooms consist of a row of porta-potties. Parking (free) changes for each production so be sure to follow the instructions on Serenbe Playhouse's website, specific to the show you're attending. http://www.serenbeplayhouse.com/plan-your-visit/directions-and-parking At The Sleepy Hollow Experience, there were two bars located on-site: (1) a smaller bar near the parking lot and porta-potties and (2) a larger bar near the production with lawn games like corn hole and ring toss. Like the rest of Serenbe Playhouse's structures, the bars have a natural, rustic look to them (sort of one with nature) and are nicely-decorated with string lighting. The larger bar has limited seating (e.g. picnic table). We purchased glasses of hot apple cider in Serenbe Playhouse clear souvenir tumblers ($10 each). We went to the Friday night late show at 10:30pm. It ended promptly, close to midnight, and included an intermission. During intermission, we could take pictures with the cast and even play corn hole with one of them. That was cool. In light traffic, it takes about 35-40 minutes to get to Serenbe Playhouse from Atlanta. I would allow 45 minutes to an hour if you are coming from the north side of Atlanta and even more if you're coming from the northern suburbs. You will have to drive onto bare, bumpy ground to park, so keep that in mind. Also, you will be out in a remote location so cell service may be spotty (in our experience, AT&T had better signal here than T-Mobile). As for the actual Sleepy Hollow Experience production itself, it was terrific. We all really enjoyed it. It was a high-quality production and by that I'm referring to the acting, costumes, music, sound, and lighting. These are true professionals and they know what they're doing. The actors not only acted well, but they played musical instruments (e.g. accordion, guitar, violin) and sang well too. This was a truly talented and entertaining group of individuals. The Sleepy Hollow Experience was expectedly eerie, but it had plenty of moments of levity and humor too. It was a lot of fun. We moved from place to place on the set with Serenbe Playhouse staff/volunteers to help guide, and sometimes scare, us. The ratio of actors to audience was 5 to about 90. The Headless Horseman exists and we saw him, multiple times, from far away and up close. It was awesome. Yes, they use a real horse and real fire. As this is an outdoor night show during the Halloween season, the entire setting is literally very dark. Only the stages and set pieces are professionally lit. The pathways and rest of the outdoor space are lit with torches and ambient/natural light. Through this production, my eyes have been opened to the greatness of Serenbe Playhouse. I wouldn't mind returning to see a different show in the future. TL;DR - Go see The Sleepy Hollow Experience at Serenbe Playhouse. It's an excellent production and a very fun experience. There's a reason why it's on American Theatre Magazine's list of "Top Five Halloween Plays in the Country" and is regularly sold out, year after year. No question, it's worth the drive from Atlanta.

The afternoon weekend performance of the Jungle Book we caught with the toddler was on an unfortunately hot day. The playhouse is outdoors, with outdoor, non-covered (read no shade) seating. We ended up sitting on a jacket we found in the back of the car on the floor in the sort of shade of a tree to get out of the sun. Even with the heat, the performance was great! The actors didn't let the heat bother them, and were at 100%. Our kiddo LOVED it and spent the rest of the day singing the songs. Be aware, you are pretty much parking on a dirt road next to some trees and there is some walking (non-paved trails) to get to the 'playhouse' itself. There is a small kiosk selling snacks, beer, and drinks. The evening performance of the Sleepy Hollow Experience was awesome. There is quite a bit of walking and the entire performance is outdoors, so dress appropriately. We were VERY lucky the evening of our performance was a perfect crisp bright fall night, with absolutely no rain. If there is rain before your show, the roads and floor would likely be pretty muddy. I was very very impressed with the acting and the LIVE horse (so well behaved!!). Again keep in mind you will be driving and walking on dirt/non-paved roads so prepare accordingly. Serenbe is a bit of a drive from Atlanta, but totally worth the experience. Also consider spending the weekend at the farmhouse, or getting an AirBnB etc in the area. I'm telling you this because I would have pronounced it AHR-ris, and I would have been embarrassingly incorrect. It seems like this particular theater company is all about the Celtic arts. The plays they produce have Celtic influence (Irish, Welsh, Scottish, and English), which in and of itself makes this theater company different. They've been around since 2013, and I'm not entirely sure if for these past few years, they have all of their plays at Georgia Broadcasting, or not. But since that's where I saw the play I went to yesterday, I'm going to venture that they are operating out of it for now. Who would have thought that within the heart of the city, there was a gem of a theater company like this? As someone who can't do an Irish or Scottish accent to save my life (well, I CAN pronounce car and party, but that's pretty much thanks to "The Boondock Saints"), the immersion of the actors on stage able to produce this accent is incredibly impressive. This theater company doesn't seem to produce the kind of theater you take your middle school class to (unless, of course, you want to enlighten them, but since parents want to pretend the night isn't dark and full of terrors...), it's much more enjoyable to an adult audience. And I am definitely okay with that! Cutesy fluff has a time and a place, but dark and witty is more of my preference. PROS: - This has to be one of the only places you can do to downtown that has free parking! I would recommend coming here a dash early, though, as the parking garage can be hard to navigate as a first timer. -Superb acting, and the actors did a good job with their various accents. They thickened up at parts, but I was still able to pick up the conversation, regardless. -A small, intimate stage, with stadium seating means the acoustics are easily heard throughout. -It's unassigned, seat-yourself seating, so you can pick a seat wherever your heart desires. -It seems like they offer more adult/mature plays (intellectual, witty, no fluff), which is my favorite kind of theater. CONS: -The lot was kind of hard to find. I drove past it the first time. (see below tip to help you figure out where to go!) -Lots and lots of walking, which means you really need to get here around AT LEAST 30 minutes early, in case you get lost. THE VERDICT: It's a smaller, intimate theater, with stadium-style seating (the front is lower that the chairs behind). On the way into the theater, they did their best to assuage confusion, with a bunch of signs pointing towards this way or that way. They also made sure to have ushers stationed around to help. (For directions to the theater, look at the below tip) I really adore smaller theaters, and despite its petite size, I had no problem hearing the actors on stage; they utilized their space very well. It fills a definite niche market as yet seemingly undefined in Atlanta acting, and I love that they do that. I'm excited to see what else this theater has to offer. TIPS: For parking, when you see the building, drive towards it. The parking garage is set off from the road, and isn't initially evident. A small bar goes up and down (no ticket retrieval necessary). Drive up from the ground level two levels (so you go to parking level 2), and park. There will be two sets of elevators. Go towards the far left elevators, and you'll see a sign telling you how to get to the proper floor. From there, go down the long hallway on your right (you'll see secretaries set up at large tables), and go to the left of them. There you'll see a table set up for the theater. You'll then be ushered down another hall and see people handing out programs.

Here is my experience with LS Acting Studio's Lucky 7 Convention…read more I want to start by saying that the acting instructors were kind, knowledgeable, and genuinely helpful. The classes themselves were informative. However, with only one two-hour class per week and a large number of students, there wasn't enough time to receive meaningful individual coaching. At the convention, Louis even acknowledged that one class a week wasn't much time before encouraging students to purchase additional classes at a discounted rate. That left me feeling like the limited schedule encouraged students to continue spending more money. In my experience, Louis became visibly upset whenever something went wrong or wasn't done exactly the way he wanted. I and several other students felt as though we were treated like children. We were often provided with candy and junk food rather than meals that felt appropriate for adults attending a professional convention. There would be moments when he would ask us to join him in prayer, and then, moments later, he would be snapping at the group or singling out an individual, sometimes using profanity because he disagreed with something someone said or did. For someone who preached so much about kindness and respect, I found this behavior to be very contradictory. It also seemed that he wanted to control every aspect of the program. Students didn't appear to be encouraged to disagree or voice concerns. Instead of addressing issues privately to better understand a situation or clear up possible misunderstandings, he often addressed students publicly. I watched him call out multiple students in front of everyone, putting them on the spot. It made many people, including myself, uncomfortable, and even some staff members appeared visibly uncomfortable with how those situations were handled. Another thing that stood out to me was that staff members would sometimes report students' concerns, comments, or observations about their demeanor, and those students would later be called out publicly. It created an environment where it felt like you couldn't openly express concerns without worrying they would be repeated or addressed in front of everyone without having the opportunity to explain your perspective. After criticizing students' reactions to who did and didn't receive callbacks, he then turned around and announced that everyone had received a callback. I found that confusing and emotionally unnecessary. Not everyone processes disappointment the same way. Just because someone isn't outwardly celebrating another person's success doesn't mean they're jealous or unsupportive. Sometimes people are simply processing their own disappointment after investing so much time, money, and effort. I also struggled to reconcile the message of encouragement with the way some students were treated. Louis commended everyone for making it to the Lucky 7 Convention despite the obstacles each person may have overcome to get there, yet the atmosphere often felt more critical than supportive. Regardless of a student's experience or background, everyone deserves to be treated with respect. Overall, I left feeling that the environment relied more on public criticism than constructive coaching. While I appreciated the instructors, I personally don't feel the overall experience justified the cost. In my opinion, much of what the program offers can be learned through other acting classes, self-study, and consistent practice without experiencing that type of treatment.

Show was pretty long, 1 hr and then a break before finishing. It was all short-form and I wanted to watch some long form, so I left during the break. Was a decent show!
