She takes a buddy class with her little sister and they are composing songs. Both kids sprint to the car to go to music class. Yesterday, she played music and sang to her own Christmas carol. She brought it to school and played it for the music teacher at her elementary school. I am so darn impressed. Scheduling and payment is easy. I like seeing older kids congregate around a safe place where they are creative.

We were required in elementary school to take part in the school band or orchestra for 5th grade with 6th grade optional (I took part both full academic years: 2002 to 2004), so with an older sibling and me, my parents were looking for reliable music stores. There was a Kennelly Keys close to the house, as well as this Kennelly Keys, that we habitually frequented. This was our destination for questions needing further answering and products not available closer to the house. Workers were friendly and the store well organized. When choosing my musical instrument for band, I decided I wanted to play the alto saxophone. My parents were okay with my choice so long as it was not as pricey as my sister's cello. On one of our visits to this location, the store was having a big sale on used instruments and they had a working alto saxophone available for a good deal. So, I got my first alto saxophone that day. I used it for both years and held on to it for a while before eventually parting with it. It worked well and served its purpose reliably.

This is great if you have like, 5 kids that all want to do something different. The studio is in an easily accessible part of Bothell which I really like. No need to travel all the way to Seattle to get some great music instruction! There's a bus stop right in front, and if you drive there's a dedicated parking lot with tons of parking. Andrew Bushnell, his violin teacher, was excellent. He guided our son thoughtfully through his lessons and kept us informed every step of the way -- explaining how our son was progressing and what the next steps should look like. That kind of communication made a real difference as parents. When our son decided he wanted to learn piano, we switched him to Mrs. Lana Kebets. Unfortunately, that experience didn't go as well. She strongly insisted that we purchase an acoustic piano, which ended up costing us thousands of dollars -- guidance we later felt was unnecessary for a beginner. She was also frequently about 5 minutes late to lessons, and overall it didn't feel like she was well-suited to teaching young children. Our son was only 5 at the time, and the approach wasn't a good fit for a child that age. We'd recommend Andrew without hesitation, but would suggest parents of very young children think carefully before choosing a piano teacher here.
