This is my go to recycling center. There is only one guy working there so be patient. There is usually a line of people who wait, so to secure your spot, start by placing a few bags that you can hold and bring them over to the line. I brought a small dolly with glass bottles and a little bit of plastic bottles and 4 cans (which i gave to someone who collected more than me). Pro tip: separate your glass by color. Brown, green, clear, etc. Prior to coming to this location. They also do not accept milk cartons and olive oil glass bottles. They separate their glass by color, and if you dont have them separated, they will make you do it there. The only hard part is that you can't separate them until they have bins available for you to use and separate them. Suggestions: you may want to bring some ear plugs because the clinging of the glasses can pierce your ear drums. A hat is always nice because they only have one canopy to provide shade. A small portable chair to sit as you wait for others to turn theirs in and maybe a fan of some sort for the hot days. They dont have many trash cans to throw away your bags or cardboard boxes, so you may need a clean bag to store all these and dispose of it at a later time. Hand sanitizer or gloves because you will be grabbing dirty trash cans or these wired baskets as you bring your piles to the guy. They weigh your piles by categories and pay you cash in the end. Carry some spare change, some of each would be good (pennies, dimes, nickles, quarters) because they may just round up and give you a solid bill. read more

Parking was easy to find and the area is pretty clean compared to other recycling places. I normally go to the other location but I think this will be my go-to places going forward. Me and my wife have been going to Arcadia to do our recycling outside of the H Mart over there for quite some time and I was trying to look for a new place that was closer to our place so we don't have to make a big trip just to recycle. So I was running errands when I came across Evolution Recycling while I was waiting for my car to be washed. I wanted to give it a try since I saw some good reviews of the place and I already have bags of recyclables in the car so why not. When I got to the place, it was a little confusing where to go, but I ended up walking to the back of the warehouse looking building and there is was. There was barely any people around which was awesome so no wait, the staff was really helpful and friendly. I couldn't get the two gentlemen's names but I will be coming back here from now on. read more

I come here for my plastic and cans recycling needs. Sure, we will never get rich doing this, but rather putting in a good deed for prolonging our environment. It breaks my heart to see how destructive mankind has become. I'm so annoyed to see so much plastic waste in our oceans. To make a long story short, you'll need to separate the plastic and glass colors beforehand. I don't know how much they pay per pound, but the person working here is actually a very nice guy. Other places I've been to, nobody helps, they're grumpy workers, and the worst thing is we don't where or how to park. It's complete turmoil. This place is located in a fenced off parking lot section of an Asian shopping plaza. They're busy, but very orderly. I usually go during the week before they close. It's much less hectic. Hush! The Owner and staffers here are pretty nice. Updated Hours, November 2020: Mondays thru Fridays: 9am to 4pm. Closed During Lunch: 12pm to 1:30pm. COVID-19 Safety Procedures: Masks and social distancing strictly enforced. If you forgot to wear your mask, the staffers will remind you. Bring your own hand sanitizer (or wipes) and gloves (gloves are optional if you want to wear them while sorting out the recyclable items). Recyclable Items must say CA CRV on them. Otherwise, they will not accept it. You come there - get the mesh tins for the plastics and soda cans and the garbage cans for the glasses (brown glass are separate and the green and clear ones can go together). They will check your recyclables to make sure you are not putting anything in there that doesn't list CA CRV. Staffers are pretty quick with trying to get you in and out (depending on how many customers are there, and how much recyclables they have). I'm usually in and out within 20mins. read more

This place is super close to my house which is really convenient. It's kind of easy to miss if you are driving a bit too fast on Pine - just make sure to turn into the alley and then make a turn into the recycling center lot. I went with my brother around 11:30 am on a Friday and there was no wait at all. The employees were helpful throughout the entire process and even helped us sort our plastics (heads up: you need to sort between aluminum cans, clear plastic, opaque plastic and the different colored glass). Beware: there were a ton of bees around the storage containers/recyclables area so make sure to keep your distance when sorting! read more

I usually go to S.O.,S. Recycling center in El Sereno. But when I past by this place, I saw it was not very busy so I returned the next day. The guy that runs the center is Spanish speaking, seemed like a nice guy. I was in a hurry that late morning for I had to pickup my son from work at the Children's Court in Monterey Park at noon. So the gentleman asked me if I had my recycle separated and I said yes so he bumped me up front and was able to make my deadline time. His employee was very helpful and respectful and even assisted me transferring my recycle in the baskets. That's being thoughtful and considerent for their customers. Way to go guys!! What was supposed to be a simple recycling transaction turned out to be a poor drawn out experience. Came in today to drop off three boxes of cans, bottles and plastics, and was met with the lone worker (older Mexican man) who seemed to find enjoyment in telling you what to do rather than being of actual help and assistance. He knit-picked every bottle with lengthy detail, but when it came time to giving actual figures, he was clearly trying to shortchange me. And when called out on the weight not matching the dollar amount, he got offensive and tried to refuse me service (which was pretty much the theme already). He finally adjusted the amount and told me to not come back (what a class act). The owner better hire better employees or this place won't be in business long once people start reporting the scam that's happening here. Do the math and don't get ripped off! read more

Gentleman who works there is nice. It's got a big lot. The downsides are that in the past it would get super crowded and the bees would sometimes fly around the recyclables so for someone that is not fond of bees it can be uncomfortable. Other than that this is a very reliable recycling center and I like how they pay cash instead of other places that give you a ticket to go inside the store or market to redeem. read more

I've been going to this place for years. Alejandro used to be at the corner of Huntington and San Gabriel before TJs/CVS took over. I can't speak to the prices for recycling, but they are helpful. Sometimes even his son comes and help. The wait times are hit or miss...I've learned to definitely not get there when it first opens unless you're the first person. Not the greatest place to recycle. The guy is kind of a creeper staring at you and acting sketch like trying to see who you're with in the car like he's gonna get robbed or arrested for something. Luck of the draw of he's nice to you or not. Lots of times he's an asshole for no reason. He's anal about being six feet away from his popup shade tent but he's going to come within inches of you to give you the money. Doesn't make sense. His scale won't register per can so if you drop a can or two outside the container and throw it in, he doesn't give you your five or ten he owes you. People are right about the bees. Bring thick gloves or something. It's about the same amount you'd see in a beekeeper farm a few feet away from hives. He's like come in the morning and there are no bees. And you just want to tell him not everyone can get up early and people work late. But why reason with selfishness. Not worth the fight. Honestly it's just better to start giving your cans to the homeless or people who go through the neighborhood at this point. Depends on how much $5 makes to you. Plus it's not too dollar. Other places in Duarte, Montebello, Monterey Park have paid a dollar to a few dollars more depending on if you brought in grocery bags or whole large garden bags. You can do worse however. But it's not a happy experience for everyone. He makes his own rules arbitrarily and doesn't have consideration for others. Sometimes he goes to lunch early if he wants to have an early break. Too many people on here complaining about this site. They pay top dollar for cans, plastics and glass. No wine bottles are accepted though. They take recyclables in bulk which is much better for me since I recycle 2-3 times a year. Located in a private lot, they are really hidden. Hours are good and people shouldn't complain if they take a long lunch. I doubt any people can do what they do and take only a 30 minute lunch break. read more

You never know when he'll be away for lunch. I went there at 11:45 once and another time at 11:30. He turns you away to say he's about to go on lunch even he's still there and can easily take my recyclables. I called the office and they say his lunch is supposed to be 12-1. I get there another time at 1 still not there. He knit picks at what's in your bin. Horrible customer service. And he doesn't let you throw your trash anywhere so your stuck taking you dirty bags home. Go to the Monterey park branch. I spent hours hauling bags of recyclables .. came to Evolution and it turns out they only accept recyclables with CRV.. so I had to take the wine bottles and other bottles that they don't accept to a dumpster. I only made around $10 when I usually make more going to other recycling centers. Although the guys that were working there were really helpful I wouldn't really recommend if you are looking to maximize your profits. read more
