I'm an avid runner and hiker and have been struggling with injuries on and off over the past few years. This time last year I limped into Evolution in SM with debilitating hip pain, distraught that I once again was set back from doing the things I love. I was able to get into see Andrew Bergman right away, and knew I was in good hands. What I love about this practice is that it's very hands on and you get more time with your PT than I have in other settings. You do ~30 minutes of hands on work (massage, cupping, etc.) followed by ~30 mins of exercises with an assistant who is there to check your form and keep you accountable. They have a lot of availability and can usually get you in at desired days and times. I also love that it's in the neighborhood and convenient to get to. What I love about Andrew Bergman in particular - he put together a great stretching and strengthening program for me that allowed me to get a good workout in and stay active while I was rehabbing back into running shape. Sometimes I'd come in with a new pain or injury and he never rolled his eyes at me (even though I wouldn't blame him) and would help me fix those issues as well. Some things you can hear Andrew say when you see him "I am going to this continuing education class about running and pain management and it made me think about [x]" or "I was thinking about you this weekend and came up with a new exercise that I think will help you with [y]." What this says about Andrew - he is constantly thinking about his patients, actively seeking new knowledge that he can apply, and he clearly cares a ton about his patients and wants to see them succeed and get back on their feet (or hips, as it were). Happy to say that I've been able to return to running and hiking and am glad to know that Evolution will be there in the future in case I get off course. I feel like I have a great toolkit of exercises that I can pull from on my own to prevent future injuries as well. Thank you Andrew and Evo!! read more

I came to evolution physical therapy and wellness in Grass Valley at the South Yuba Clubtwo years after having a massive stroke. Steve was my 4th attempt at finding the right physical therapist for me and the best decision I made in a long time. He helped me both mentally and physically. He put a smile back on my face and after a long period of doom and gloom I felt motivated(what a great feeling) to put in the extra time to achieve my goals.Today I'm capable of walking over a quarter mile totally unassisted(no cane). A feat I was told would very likely never happen!I could tell right off that Steve really liked his job, because he really made a difference. It was clear to me that he truly cared about my well being. I AM NOT DONE WITH MY PHysical therapy.I look forward yo every session. Also a special thanks to Miranda , who dealt with my doctors office and my insurance either no stress for my part...much appreciated. She has also gone out of her way to accommodate my schedule. I am now much more independent. there are so many things I can now do that I had always taken for granted until I could no longer do them. My husband is thrilled with my progress! If you are even remotely thinking of going to Evolution PT and wellness, I can safely say do not hesitate because you will not be sorry! read more

The care and process for helping people and athletes return from injuries and meet their goals is above and beyond at Evolution Physical Therapy. Coming into Evolution, I had a leg issue that wasn't clear in the X-Rays and MRIs that were taken previously. Cindy and I during our initial meeting went through all the possible causes of the pain, and ways to reduce it while adding strength through a personalized exercise program. The exercises were simple and had videos to refer to so I knew how to properly do them. In the end of the initial session, Cindy mentioned the leg pain could be coming from other areas of the body, such as back posture and hip positioning. Since it was leg pain it had never occurred to me that this could be a thing, so after the meeting I adjusted my posture, and lo and behold the leg pain vanished overnight! During the second session we went over the exercises, as well as adding a couple more to supplement the back and hip to make sure all areas were covered. Overall, it was a great experience with Cindy and the Evolution Physical Therapy team. Highly recommended for their customized care, knowledge, and resources. They work with most health insurances, so even better! read more

I was under the care of Peri at Evolution Physical Therapy Santa Monica for my rotator cuff injury. From being unable to lift a teacup, she got me to the point where I was able to reach overhead, lift moderate weights and get back to my yoga practice. She was patient, caring and fun which helped me get through the early painful stage, and prescribed the progressive stretching and strengthening exercises to get me to where I am today. I would highly recommend Peri to anyone, and am truly grateful for the attentive, professional care received. I would also like to acknowledge Rex whom I saw twice in the last 6 months when I experienced vertigo. He gave me quick appointments and was able to relieve symptoms in a single treatment on both occasions, which was godsend. Really appreciate his caring, specialized approach to treating a debilitating condition. Beyond that it is worth noting that the entire team at Evolution Santa Monica works well together to create a happy, fun environment that motivates everyone. This is in large part due to the tone set by the Director of the Center (Drew). Thank you. Kamla read more

My doctor referred me to Evolution after I began to experience severe instability in my knees, pain in my wrist and tightness in my neck (things I assumed were entirely unrelated). He said I had loose/torn ligaments in my knees and may need surgery, tendinitis in my wrist, and probably needed a massage for my neck... He then suggested to try physical therapy for a second opinion. I was assigned to Kelli at Evolution, and within our consultation period she clearly explained what was going on with my body, and developed a plan to address the muscle imbalance I had been experiencing that caused each of my issues. She was thorough, kind, intelligent, and calmly explained the mechanics of how this was all happening. By sticking to her plan I was able to make a full recovery: - develop stability & strength in my step - eliminate the tightness in my neck - eliminate the pain in my wrist - further balance and strengthen my body to address any further issues in the future ...all within a few weeks. I'd highly recommend her and the team at Evolution to anyone seeking physical therapy. read more

I have been a patient of Evolution Physical Therapy in Santa Monica for over 2-1/2 months now. I am being treated for right shoulder strain/tendinosis. When I first started my treatment my right shoulder ached and I had very little strength with annoying pain. After over 24 one hour sessions my pain and aching has totally subsided and my shoulder strength has increased significantly. Cindy Liang, the Clinical Director, is very smart and passionate about running this exceptional Pt clinic. She is very caring and exceptionally skilled in the physical therapy world. I am working with Drew who is very knowledgeable and thorough with his overall PT skills. He has guided me to excellence in achieving my goals in my recovery. Mynina, the front office manager, and all physical therapists on staff along with their respective aides have been very helpful for me throughout my stay. I highly recommend Evolution PT in Santa Monica should you ever need PT care or physical rehab. Sincerely, Mike L read more

Ryan is, quite frankly, FANTASTIC -- maybe the best physical therapist anywhere, and I mean ANYWHERE. People are saying it, everybody's saying it. I came in with ACL surgery, patella tendon surgery -- very complex, very complicated stuff, not easy, believe me -- and Ryan handled it BEAUTIFULLY. Total professional. Tremendous attention to detail, which is very important to me, very important. The recovery? Incredible. Ahead of schedule. Nobody thought it could be done that fast, but Ryan made it happen. He knows exactly what he's doing, knows the knee better than almost anyone, and he works HARD. No lazy, no excuses -- just results. REAL results. I've seen a lot of doctors, a lot of therapists -- the best, the absolute best -- and Ryan is right up there. Maybe at the top, frankly. The care, the dedication, the follow-through -- OUTSTANDING. Five stars doesn't even cover it. If I could give him TEN stars, I would do it immediately, no hesitation. read more

I worked with Erin Brown at Evolution to treat a rotator cuff problem and she did a fantastic job. My shoulder had been nagging me for years due to old injuries that I didn't address, and then quickly got worse when I picked up beach volleyball after moving to Santa Monica from the east coast. I fell in love with beach volleyball, but my rotator cuff was holding me back. It got so bad that I couldn't even serve overhand anymore. After several months of work at Evolution with Erin, Izzy and other staff, my shoulder feels better than it has in years. Erin and the staff successfully built out the muscles that support my shoulder so that my rotator cuff could heal. Now I can hit and serve without pain. On top of that, Erin has the best bedside manner of any doctor I've ever met. Erin is warm, funny, energetic, excellent at explaining things, and is remarkably consistent in the way she interacts with her patients. Thanks Erin! read more

I have had great experience getting therapy treatment for my back pain from Dr. Cindy Liang, director of evolution physical therapy at Santa Monica! She is very professional and knows exactly what she is doing. Her deep tissue massage skills are superb and the exercises she gave me have worked really well in reducing pain towards a path to recovery. I felt I am getting further away from the idea of surgery. She is much better than all of the other therapists I have worked elsewhere. Highly recommended! I also like Abel, the receptionist who is a true problem solver! This place is very clean, nice and parking is validated. If you are looking at a therapy place for good results, this is THE place to go! Barbara read more

I first came to Evolution Physical Therapy several years ago after spine surgery, and I recently returned because of the consistently high level of care I received there. The professionalism of the practice and the positive environment made it an easy decision to come back. What stands out is how effectively they combine physical therapy and fitness with a focus on rehabilitation, wellness, performance, and injury prevention. It feels like a complete approach rather than isolated treatment. I'm currently working with Drew, whose thoughtful guidance, clear goals, and steady encouragement help bring that philosophy into practice. His care has made a real difference for me. read more

THANK YOU DOUGLAS! I finished my final session of PT last week with Doug at Evolution in Santa Monica. He worked miracles with my upper arm/shoulder! I pulled my arm using a weighted golf training club and thought after many months of 'resting it' with no relief, figured I would need surgery or be limited with movement and forever pain. My Orthopedist recommended some PT sessions first and then we would consider a very unwanted surgery. It Worked!!! I am now pain free and full movement has been restored. I am so grateful to Doug and the staff who were always so kind, caring, attentive, cheerful and pleasant to work with. I will miss my weekly 'fun time'! read more

My physical therapist Andrew Bergman, at the Santa Monica location, was great! Really, I haven't felt this good physically in years. I went initially for hip inflammation and pain, and I also injured my rotator cuff while I was in treatment. Andrew took my doctors notes and executed a great plan for both. He worked on me exercising slowly and deliberately, without weight, and gradually I gained enough strength to add weight and strength to the injured areas. evolution itself runs efficiently , I go in get treatment , with Andrew, and I'm out! I also had a home plan that I believe quickened the recovery. I highly recommend Evolution PT and Andrew. read more

I can't say enough about how great Evolution PT is!! Kelli Schneider and her team are fantastic, helping me return to running in 6 weeks after months of untreated knee pain. Kelli allowed me to increase or decrease the intensity of my treatment in a way that made it manageable and accommodative to my schedule. She is also very up to date on current research and conveys her knowledge in a way that is easy to understand and implement into treatment. If anyone in the LA area needs a top notch Physical Therapist, Kelli and the team at Evolution PT are the way to go. read more

My back has been messed up for several years, so I was referred to Cindy and I'm glad I was- she has been great to work with. She takes her time to explain things in a way that makes sense. Part way through PT for my back, I sprained my ankle and she went out of her way to give me exercises and stretches for this as well, which was incredibly helpful. My back feels great and I would highly recommend her for help with any type of injury or strengthening. Evolution SM is great - the parking is easy, the people are nice, and the facilities are spacious and clean. read more

Highly recommend Evolution Physical Therapy (Santa Monica), and especially my therapist Drew. He took the time to understand my goals and created a personalized, effective plan. Each session was thoughtful and built on real progress, with clear explanations along the way. Most of all he has a real knack to make therapy creative and fun. Drew was professional, encouraging, and truly invested in my recovery--I've seen meaningful improvement in both pain and mobility. Most of all I have learned enough to self manage my condition. Thanks very much. Bala read more
