For me the main attraction is the pool which is free from kids after 630 for either a fitness swim or a relaxing swim. The lighting in the pool area is chilled out and you can swim directly from the inside pool to the outside pool which is great for the summer and the winter! Upstairs there's an extensive spa area with sauna, fire and ice room, steam room and salt steam room, plus the infinity pool! The gym is well equipped and has a movie room where you can watch a film while you workout. As with many gyms these days the free weights area is too small and over crowded with no enforcement of gym etiquette, since most gyms suffer from this I've not marked them down :) The restaurant serves an interesting Asian fusion menu which is reasonably priced, delicious and does a good job of creating an intimate atmosphere.

This could be the best spa spot in the UK. Highlight of my work trip to Harrogate this weekend…read more Sneaky tip - book ahead and ask them when the less busy sessions are. Get there early and you'll be let in before the others and therefore find it less crowded and more relaxing! I went on the Sunday evening session and paid just over 20 squids. In essence, this building is bloody amazing. It's an iconic listed royal baths, and the renovation here has been done just beautifully. All of the old 18th and 19th century features remain, including showers, taps, gorgeous wooden changing rooms and more. It's like stepping into a time warp, a good time warp. There is a process to follow to 'take the waters' which involves a lot of cold plunge pooling, showers, steam and heat rooms. I followed the plan exactly as directed and I felt amazing afterwards. I also had a massage with the lovely therapist Bridget. She was knowledgeable and checked out all the details about my broken back before commencing. So relaxing and she gave me a few tips for my stiff neck afterwards also - result! This spa alone makes me want to return to Harrogate. Please do go if you visit the town.

To have such a decadent and relaxing venue on tap (excuse the pun) is a dream. What is does is totally unwind all those everyday stresses away and makes you feel a million dollars. Now this is pampering. Choose from any number of luxury treatments or just spend time relaxing in the beautiful steam rooms. It is an ideal gift and somewhere to take your friends and family for a day to recharge the batteries. I suggest the deluxe chocolate wrap which is a delicious body treatment using cocoa. You may want to eat it but don't. If it's facials you want, then again no worries on that account. There are loads to take your pick from. Although it isn't dirt cheap, I think it offers real value for money. There are different options for whatever your budget. If you are feeling especially flush then go for a full on package for a total spoiling session. Then finish off with a visit to the baths for some steam treatments and a day of utter indulgence. This is as good as it gets.

Luxurious spa & fantastic restaurant for an excellent price…read more I was invited to join a friend here for the 'fantastic Friday' deal in June. I hadn't heard of this place before and when my friend described the deal to my on text message it sounded a little too good to be true. £99 for spa use (aqua thermal journey) on the Friday then dinner in the restaurant followed by an overnight stay. Breakfast was also included plus the use of the spa again on the Saturday morning until 11. I wondered if it was a mediocre location - I couldn't have been more wrong! We arrive at 2pm on the Friday on a gloriously sunny day. The hotel and spa are very new and look stunning. The staff are all friendly and very polite and attentive. They offered to carry our bags to our rooms and made every effort to help us. Due to booking quite late we were in a disabled access room on the ground floor but this didn't change anything regarding how lovely it was. Large, light and well furnished with a fridge, drink making facilities, a tv and everything we needed for a great stay. I had such a good nights sleep in the bed. We had treatments (paid for separately to the package) on the Friday. The spa is luxurious and brand new. One of my favourite parts of this experience is that you can wear the robe and slippers they provide all the time (apart from the evening meal) so the whole day and even at breakfast! Heaven. Every part of it is gorgeous and just being there is relaxing. My Swedish back massage was heaven. We then headed into the aqua thermal journey which consists of 7 rooms and experiences throughout the spa. There is also an internal pool and an external hot tub where we sat in the sun. We then relaxed on sun loungers in the Zen garden with gin and tonics. They have waiter service from the bar. The evening meal was sublime. Two courses were included but we opted to have dessert as well at an extra cost. Each part of the meal was perfect. We had goats cheese mousse and crackers as a little amuse bouche which was delicious then I had asparagus, artichoke and radish salad while my friend had the duck egg starter. Both beautifully preserved and the taste was exceptional. Our mains were beef and duck. Again the presentation and flavour was excellent. We had the same dessert, chocolate fondant with cherries. Amazing but I was quite full so couldn't mange the last mouthful. The service was faultless. I cannot recommend this place enough, every element is wonderful and I felt completely renewed after my visit here.

A Spa Weekend to refuel after a long hard working Christmas. I am going to break down my review…read moreinto different segments to make it easier for myself to review it, so here goes.... Booking... I saw billboards for this new luxury spa hotel in Lancashire whilst driving to our Manchester Markets every day, so looked it up on't tinternet. Turns out it's not too far away and reasonably priced. So I rang up to book two rooms on the Spa Break Package that includes dinner, bed, breakfast and use of the 'Aqua Thermal Journey'. Priced at £110 per person, this seemed like a good buy. At the time of booking I requested a treatments menu for the spa to be posted out to me so my folks could pick what luxuries they would like to indulge in during our stay. Unfortunately I never received this menu so I printed one out myself. When we had decided on our treatments I rang up again to book them only to be told there was no availability for any treatment during that weekend! I think not. So I emailed them and after a few concerned phone calls all our treatments were booked in. The hotel... The hotel itself is situated at the far end of a holiday home park, which I was not expecting! This however, did not affect the hotel one bit. It is amazing. Brand spanking new, great spacious rooms, comfy beds, good bathrooms, Molton & Brown toiletries to use (or bring home), the staff couldn't have been more helpful (with the exception of one woman I spoke to on the phone) and the service was overall top notch. The food... We had dinner and breakfast included in our package and I must say I am super glad. The food was like nothing I have ever experienced. I have never been one for fancy food where you get a little bit nicely arranged on a plate that costs a bomb, but this may have opened my eyes a little wider. The food was beautifully designed on great plates (or slates) but also there was enough on the plate to fill you up. They obviously have a very well trained chef. During our evening meal we were presented with canapés which were unexpected but brill. We enjoyed three courses, all of exceptional quality. Breakfast is the same story. Great selection of continental foods and also a choice of hot foods all beautifully presented. Afternoon Tea was our last treat whilst at this hotel, priced at £12.50 a head it was the perfect ending to our weekend getaway. The spa... WOW. 1st class. That is all. Visit it (and don't forget to use the outdoor hot tub!). The only concern I have to mention is to check your bill upon check out. All of our treatments were put on the bill twice, and the room rate was wrong. Good job I checked!

I was in the area on business and elected to reserve a "luxury" room and was very glad I did; it had a sweeping view of the gardens and farm fields as far as the eye could see, was huge and had formal mirrors and a chandelier, a comfortable king bed and a velvet sofa. I had the two-course dinner, with a fresh carrot ginger soup and local Staffordshire rump of lamb with parsnip and plum. It was flawlessly prepared and delicious. The wine list is strong. I also had an after dinner drink at the bar and had a truly lovely conversation with a young bartender named Marek. Hoar Cross appears to attract a lot of folks for "girls spa getaways," with lots of women clearly revelling in their enjoyable mini vacations. The mood is light and joyful. Sadly, I did not realize that spa access was part of my package, and was unprepared with swimwear, so I cannot speak of the spa amenities. I'd return here in a heartbeat.

On arrival at the spa you are taken to the cafe area served refreshments and asked to complete the paperwork needed during your stay. Then its on to the changing rooms to change into your swimwear and robes (whih are provided). The changing rooms are modern and very clean with plenty of lockers. The pool area is great for relaxing with a jacuzzi and different massage jets, steam room, sauna etc etc. We did a couple of different classes while we were there, aqua aerobics and a pom pom workout both of which were really great fun. The food although healthy was beautiful and was served in a very grand room. You can go back to get more food as many times as you like which is good as it gives you a chance to sample lots of the lovely dishes. We had a couple of treatments there (massage & facial) which were a real treat. The neck shoulder and back massage was fab and just what I needed to de-stress. They use clarins and decleor products and advise you what they are using. Be aware that there are male staff that do the treatments so if you are not comfortable with this, you should advise the staff. There is a lovely quiet room with big comfy sofas and chairs and newspapers, books etc so it's worth grabbing a coffee and heading their for an afternoon chill/nap. The hotel room we stayed in was a spacious triple room with a small lounge area. It was very clean and tidy and nicely decorated and furnished. The beds were very comfortable and we felt right at home. In the morning your breakfast is brought to you in bed which was brilliant. They have a couple of differnet shops within Ragdale Hall which are nice to browse around and you can buy your Clarins/Decleor products from the shop near the treatment room. I can't wait to go back to Ragdale hall. As you would expect, Ragdale Hall is very expensive (especially for the overnight stay) but it is worth signing up with them on their website as you will be sent special offers with some good savings. It is perfect to take your mum/sisters or if you just fancy a girlie, relaxing weekend away.

I'll start this by saying that 8 out of 20 reviews (tripadvisor) that is 40% were not positive & in…read moreresponse to those "less than positive" reviews a VERY defensive response, full of excuses) has been left by the owner.... that says everything about how this business operates. I bought a Groupon deal (9/11) and as soon as I knew my working pattern I tried to contact for an appointment. No response, phone not answered, no message service, no email address & no mobile number. Eventually on 7th Dec I finally managed to make contact on 7th Dec only to be told they were fully booked, ie. NO AVAILABLE SLOTS until the end of December (so effectively waiting time is a month plus) this wasn't for a Saturday, I could have gone at 10am on a Monday morning....but no, they're "fully booked" until the end of the year. Fine I said, I'll ring back in January & hung up. I then received a rude text saying I should not have put the phone down & to tell me that January was getting booked up too, so I'd better book in!!. lovely customer service there.......really welcoming.... wouldn't go there now if they paid me. Interesting that there obviously IS a mobile number that they choose not to disclose to customers (good scam because that'll reduce the number of calls they accept & appointments they make). So.... apparently 760 of these "deals" have been sold on Groupon, equating to 1520 hours worth of appointment time. The venue is open days for 8hours = 48hrs, so this is 31.5 weeks FULLY BOOKED.....just for Groupon. Somebody hasn't done their sums & seen what they can accommodate so I suspect I'm not the only one who's going to have an issue trying to redeem their Groupon voucher. And, although the voucher says "selected Saturdays" Groupon has advised this isn't valid & Saturday's are not available. Read the reviews on Trip advisor, the owner has clearly decided to ride the Groupon Gravy Train.... and now, finding she is unable to cope with the "deals" she has sold, has: Restricted access to anybody phoning to try to book Overbooked so much the waiting time is now 4 weeks+ Realising this, reacted in a very aggressive/defensive manner to any less than perfect feedback.... particularly for Groupon customers.... Something she will likely live to regret, Groupon customers come for the deal & stay for the customer service.... or perhaps she has failed to grasp this concept about how to grow your business & retain customers so you can get full cost bookings & don't have to rely on Groupon.. Silly stubborn woman & such a shame as Manchester really is crying out for a really good ladies Hamam - so many people have now experienced them whilst travelling & loved the experience, I certainly did.... but this obviously isn't a good one.... I sincerely hope somebody with a modicum of customer service skills, and better business acumen opens a really top notch facility & steals this business opportunity right from under her nose....

Firstly, when I rang to book the treatment nobody answered the phone so I left a voicemail. No staff member had the courtesy to ring me back. I was sent a text message asking me if I wanted to make a booking to which I replied. Nearer to the appointment I sent another text regarding the treatment to which I did not receive a reply. I rang the Spa and nobody answered so I left a voicemail but nobody called me back. I even sent a Facebook message which again I received no reply to. So my first complaint is that their communication is terrible which is not helpful to me as a customer. When we arrived at the Spa and entered the front door into the Reception area our first impressions were not great. We were invited to sit on broken chairs whilst waiting for our treatments to begin and not even offered a cup of water. The reception area looked as if it was either being refurbished or the works hadn't been completed. There was a workmans' bench with tools etc on it and bags of rubbish in front of the window. The curtain poles were hanging down as were the curtains. It all looked very shabby and dirty. When our treatment eventually began - my friend and I were in the same massage room as our beds were side by side. Our therapists chatted the entire time in their own language which did not create a relaxing environment for us. During the treatment time, my therapist stepped out of the room without any explanation and when she returned a few minutes later she did not apologise or explain her absence. The therapist of my friend even made a telephone call during her massage!! My friend and I and both found all of the above very rude and unprofessional. After the massage had finished and we wanted to use the toilet before leaving, the loo was blocked and when I informed my therapist she just shrugged her shoulders and said there was another toilet downstairs. Again this was unhelpful, rude and unprofessional. We will not be returning nor do we recommend this place to others.
