However, my friend scored when she found the Stovall House. The entrance is not very well lit at night. We ended up guessing where to turn and where to park our car. The Stovall House entrance seemed a bit unintuitive as the cars are parked at what looks like entrance side of the building. Even though the kitchen was closed, we were still offered food by Lloyd's wife, who had greeted us when we entered. We were hungry so we asked for whatever they had left. She had us find our own seat at the tables on the porch, where we poured our own waters and waited for her to bring us two warmed up plates of chicken Alfredo. It was ok but it was just reheated pasta. The room situation was a bit disorganized, as the lock was missing the key. Lloyd persuaded us to leave the door unlocked throughout the day while we were out. However, because we had locked it improperly the night before, we locked ourselves out the next day. Lloyd was patient and helped us as best as he could to get into our room, with or without a key. The bedroom and bathroom are very quaint and comfortable. The bed was huge, which was really all we needed to make sure we got good shuteye. The next morning, we got to breakfast in time for brunch. Fresh strawberries and coffee were brought out to us while we waited for our breakfast. Lloyd brought me bacon, eggs and grits. My friend doesn't eat pork, so he brought her a vegetarian omelette. She found it delicious until, unfortunately, I think a bacon bit slipped into the veggie mix. He apologized profusely and brought her another, but it was a bit undercooked. Honestly, everyone here is SO nice and work hard to make sure your stay is relaxing and you feel at home. While there are definitely a few kinks to work out, the Stovall House could make it if they focus on the bigger picture, too.

The green beans with the country ham, turned out to be the star of my meal. Whatever you order, be sure to get the green beans for a side. I did round out dinner with a slice of authentic Georgia pecan pie complete with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. I am a Georgia native, and this pie is as authentic as it gets. I can cook comparably for myself at home and I wouldn't give myself more than 3 stars either.

The eggs Benny was cooked just right with some wonderful thick sliced grilled ham and a bright hollandaise sauce with just the right citrus to balance the eggs and vinegar of the sauce. The omelet was fluffy and filled with a high quality Swiss cheese and grilled onions. The French Toast was made from 3" thick slices of French Bread and grilled perfectly. Brunch was so fantastic we decided to order dinner to pick up after we went to the lake for the day. Wow! The angus steaks, fresh green beans, salad and gellato were absolutely beautiful! We understand that ordering a gourmet meal to take back to your rental cabin is a big deal here at Indigo Hills. Folks regulary call or stop by to pick up a fantastic ready to eat or re-heat meal. While we ate brunch some other tourist like us ordered boxed lunches for their scenic train ride, and I bet they would be fantastic to take out for a day on the lake. Service was amazing, and straight from the owner Gwen. She has some fantastic help, but she seems to need more, so BE PATIENT! The food is well worth it. There also appears to be a very flexible attitude towards hours that they are open. Maybe call ahead to make sure someone is there, and if they aren't there, again be patient! C'mon inside. Join me, and 3 of my whacky friends as we get down and get steak-y. Ian appeared, past the red kitchen partition. With the look of a young rocker or budding rocket scientist. Our Deer Lodge Leader, steak wrangler, master of caremonies. I'm a bit shy, so I....(YEAH, right!) So I inquired of Ian, which cut caught his fancy? He rebounded with a well done response. T-Bone. T-Bones it was! For three of us. That fourth one, no names, Butch, bucked the trend and went for a ribeye. It wasn't long, Ian reemerged from behind red partition, hefting plates of meat and potato magnificence. As a fine tuned Foodie, this charming niche carved into the side of a chunk of Georgia rock fulfilled a tantalizing fantasy for me. A venture into a rarely found world of Med Rare and more. Sizzles on a flat top turned into scent-sational fantasy fare. These huge hunks of meat were T-Bone perfection. The long side, the strip. The smaller side, a much anticipated tenderloin. A cut oh so tender. Fork tender. The explosion of flavors did NOT disappoint! Thoughts of joy ran through my head, 'damn glad I'm not a vegan'. Hey, we tried. I felt honored to stand nearby as Sabrina in person, grabbed a spatula. I witnessed a master at work. At her craft. She was 14 the first time she walked through those doors. And now, she transforms a loin of beef into picture perfect choice cuts. Anything that touches flame, cleaved by her knifemanship. (Just made that word up!) A sparkling & bubbly personality to boot.
