We have 4 girls in competitive dance, ages 6-14. They have trained at other Westside Schools,…read moreArts Club, etc. and have all moved to The Landing. We are very happy there. The Landing is a small and relatively new school (started summer 2008), offering Jazz, Ballet, Contemprary, Lyrical, Tap, Modern, etc. The school is affiliated with NY School of Dance. There is a great camaraderie at the studio, thanks to the passion of the owner - Brenna who is a great dancer and an inspiring teacher. At this time most of the classes appear to be established dancers aged 8-9 and up. They have certainly attracted many very good students. As the studio develops they may offer greater range for beginners - worth enquiring. There are group classes, individual sessions and guest workshops (eg Sean McLeod from NY School of Dance - amazing!). The instruction appears less focussed on preparation for competition than we've seen elsewhere, resulting in more time for instruction that is tailored for the needs of the individual dancer. Our daughters have really enjoyed contemporary dance which is offered at a younger age than some other studios. Pro's Atmosphere Quality of Instruction Personalized attention Workshops Parking Cost is less than other high-end studios (especially the incremental fees (ie costume fees, competition entry fees, etc) Con's Location - Nothing much nearby - eg for non-dancing siblings, shopping, etc. Take whatever food you need with you. More limited range of times / programs

Following up after the previous review below, and on the review on Google. I think the owner…read moreyelling is a bit exaggerated, but she definitely does talk down to people. Whether it's a member of her staff or a parent. She has a very condescending tone in her voice and tries to make you feel as little as possible. As a parent who has been at The Landing for quite sometime, I've seen this happen many times. This will be the last year my daughter dances here, the environment is toxic and I will not expose her to that sort of behaviour any longer. The teachers may be the only reason that we are still currently here, if not for them we wouldn't have returned for this season.

I enrolled my 3 year old for ballet this past school year and overall had a nice experience…read more Dance Co is a very large dance school. I would say they are the largest in town with 2 locations. The entire experience was very well organized but did not feel personal. Besides my daughter's teacher, there was no other staff that knew her name. The class is only 30 minutes long and are the shortest running classes for her age that I've seen in my searches. Other classes for 3-5 year olds are 40-60 minutes long. Their prices are on the higher end despite being shorter in length. At the beginning of the year, you pay everything up front: admin fee, year end video fee and costume fee. This definitely made things convenient. You only need to purchase their uniform from their own store which are also on the pricier side but I found the quality to be well made. There was 1 class where the entire 30 minutes was spent taking measurements for the year end costume and the kids were coloring the entire class. Based on my own dance experience at other schools, measurements were always done outside of class time, usually after class and shouldn't take more than a minute per person. All communication about the year end show was done by mass email and you soon realize how many students this studio has. This year they had 3 year end shows with different groups on the same day and even more performances the day before. It is a lot! At the year end show, my daughter performed with 24 other performances where 21 were all little kid groups (3-7 yr olds). I found the dance quality to be very good as I understand it can be difficult with several children as young as 3 performing on stage for their very first time. I would prefer for our participation to feel more valued but it is tough with such a large dance school.

You get a very big studio with tons of other little rooms inside and everyone is very respectful…read morethere is a lot of other styles and I love dancing there multiple classes can go on at a time and you learn so much there with all of the classes definitely recommend it

This school is good for beginners and senior dancers. My daughter came to this school as a teenager after we moved. She has improved greatly and would not be as good as she is now without the help of her teachers. Highly recommended.

We strive to provide the highest level of training while keeping classes fast-paced and enjoyable. All of the teachers are highly educated in their respective dance disciplines, with most holding diplomas and/or certification from a dance teaching organization, such as the Royal Academy of Dance, the Association of International Dance Teachers and the Canadian Dance Teachers Association. We strive to help each dancer become the best he/she can be as a dancer and as a person. We believe that everyone should be treated equally regardless of age or ability. Making a difference in each dancer's life is very important to us! Our goal is to make Dance an enjoyable experience while focusing on a high level of technique. The children come first at Tri-City, and we work very hard to make sure each child's individual needs are met through support, encouragement, and inspiration. Our aim is to not only train dancers, but create better people who have confidence, poise, and a love of the Arts.
