Ann Evers needs to retire. She completed a biopsy on my scalp to find out why my hair was no longer growing in length. She prescribed topical medication for my scalp to help my hair grow. What she didn't tell me is that the solution she prescribed is for Caucasians who wash their hair every day or every other day. I'm African American and we don't. After 3 months the medication inflamed my scalp and began producing thick yeast. It began to make my hair fall out everywhere the topical solution was applied. It even began to lighten the sides of my face, and my forehead was rough and peeling. Ann Evers gave me a shampoo to "fix" it, but it didn't. When I told her African Americans don't wash our hair every day, she gave the ointment version of the medication which still continued to do nothing. My scalp got WORSE, and the edges and sides of my hair continued to be inflamed and scale up. When washed to remove the flaky, thick dandruff hair came out with it. I have a bald spot the size of a nickel in the top of my head from removing the thick scaling of my scalp. This went on for 3 weeks before my stylist suggested I see an African American dermatologist that knows about our scalp and hair. She prescribed me a different shampoo and ointment with a steroid to stop the inflammation and hair loss. It stopped after 2 days of using the medication. I will never go back to her, and I suggest no other African American does either. read more
