I was a patient at this practice for several years, maybe had half a dozen appointments and they were always with a female NP who was just fine, I never actually met the doctor. Now I've moved to another state and I called the office to get my records. The lady on the phone told me they were in storage and they would have to retrieve them, it might take a while. No problem, I understand. So imagine my surprise when i got them in the mail in less than a week. I can't speak to Dr. Day's competence, but everyone else there has always been great! read more

Dr. Day is great! He was professional and compassionate. His staff was wonderful. The whole experience was very good. I had previously been to another dermatologist that treated me like just a number, but did not have that experience with Belle Meade Derm at all. One thing I will say about Dr. Day - he has been willing to remove (or rather, have his nurse remove) anything I asked him to. I initially went to see him after another dermatologist wanted to take a "wait and see" approach to a suspicious mole from the sole of my foot. I am African-American, and the location of the mole combined with its size, its multiple colors, and when/how it appeared were suspicious. Dr. Day ('s nurse) removed it the same day I asked. Since then, Dr. Day (or rather, his nurse) has removed another mole and a skin tag upon request. I have always found Dr. Day (and his nurse) to be pleasant, knowledgeable and accommodating. The only reason I give 4 stars is that he keeps trying to put me on antibiotics. I struggle with acne, but I also have digestive issues. I would like to be able to promote healthy intestinal flora. And, being female, I know that really unpleasant things can result from poor bacteria/fungi balance. The other stories sound terrible, but that has not been my experience with this doctor. read more

Holy Gods... Had I known Dr. Day would completely dismiss my concerns, I would have saved myself the time! Dr. Day was 45 minutes late for my appointment. He's a dermatologist. There's no excuse for a dermatologist to be late for an appointment. It's not like he's responding to some skin emergency the way a plastic surgeon might need to. I went because I have some skin cancer risks - risks such as growing up in Florida, having had multiple bad sunburns every year, plus both parents and a sibling who have had cancer removed from their skin along with some strange bumps and lumps on my skin. Dr. Day, after being told all of this, stood a foot away from me, glanced over my chest, arms and back and said, "Well! You have no moles whatsoever?! Aren't you lucky!" Lucky? Wtf? Skin cancer doesn't present just as big black and brown moles. Sometimes it's small and red or pearly.... Thanks for dismissing my concerns. I also went in because I have a large fungal rash on my back, along with a breakout on my arms. I asked for an oral anti-fungal that another dermatologist prescribed to me before. The one I told him I'd had is a three day course that cleared up everything (but... that was four years ago; it came back). He said he'd give me a ten day course, but then looked at my daily prescriptions and said he couldn't because I take Metformin. So, he prescribed a topical cream that needs to be applied twice daily, for thirty days. Did I mention the rash is on my back? He suggested I use a wooden spoon to spread the cream on my back. When I got home, I checked drug interactions... Metformin doesn't interact poorly with any anti-fungal. Also, he didn't address the breakouts on my arms at all. Indeed, he made me feel like I was wasting his time and that I was an idiot for thinking I might have a risk of skin cancer. Avoid this man. As a doctor, he's terrible. Just a side note: I've been living in my skin for 40+ years. I know what issues it has, such as the recurring rash and the breakouts on my arms - both are caused by a yeast or fungal infection. Just because I understand my skin and know what works for it doesn't mean my concerns should be dismissed. read more

Money Making Machine I have been a patient of Dr Day for many years. I overlooked the oddities of his manners because I really enjoyed the staff at the Aesthetic Center. I had been seeing them since 2000 and felt like they did a great job at taking care of my many Scotch-Irish skin issues. I am now "mature" and have to regularly be checked for skin cancer plus have had two MOHs treatments. It was recommended that I have PDTs to proactively remove the sun damage spots on my face. My insurance covered the treatment so I had a second one scheduled. I was laid off from my job a week before the appointment. Typically insurance runs to the end of the month in such situations so I kept the appointment thinking it should be covered. To my surprise, the claim was denied. When I got the bill it was twice the amount of what insurance allowed. I asked the business office if I could get the insurance rate and she said she would check with Dr. Day. Since it was half, I was hoping they would work with me on the doubled the price. I received a bill for the full amount with no call or response from the business office. This is not the first time they have not worked with me on bills. Another incident was they turned me over to a collection agency within months of another bill - no letters, phone call, no warning, nothing. Once I had the opportunity to find speak with someone about the bill, we were able to work through that issue but their quick reaction of sending to "collections" indicates to me they are a money making machine. Beware ... There are plenty of dermatologist in Nashville. I would recommend finding a different one. I plan on it. read more

Dr. Day has been our doctor for 12 years.If I have an issue, he works me in within a day or two. I have had several lesions cauterized and lip cancer. He completely cured me. I would not change to another dermatologist. He is friendly, professional, and great!! Barb Spangler read more

My dermatologist retired in Clarksville, so I ws given a referral to see this man. I went in due to skin cancers on my chest, arms, and legs. My first impresion meeting him was that he was a bit strange--his questioning and responses to questions was not what was expecting of a Dr. At no time did he touch my skin or discuss my skin cancers at all to inform me of what was going on. He made assumptions about previous care and even about my profession. What he did was look at my chest and then proceed to tell me that "I was in BIG TROUBLE". He did not elaborate on that statement--just said it was going to get worse. He then asked me "what I expected from the visit", at which time I told him I expected him to look at the cancers and tell me what I should do. I procedded to point out areas on my legs that I thought might be skin tags rather than cancers, and he very bluntly said "nope those are cancers". He had no patient compassion and was not professional. My daughters are nurses and I know they are taught that patient care is first and formost. I did not feel that from this Dr. nor his nurse. He recommended using dry ice to freeze the larger areas. I was hesitant because of the blistering and scabbing (not something you want others to see in summer). I recommended coming back in early October and he pushed for me to have it done that day and then return in October for a follow up. I should have walked out of the office well before this point but was trying to give the guy a little time to show me he was professional. He assumed I knew all about freezing cancers, when I had not experienced this prcedure at all. His nurse then sat in front of me on a stool--I'm sitting on the table and she proceeds to dab at cancers on my leg--not stabalizing my leg at all. This seemed very careless to me and at one point I stated that I felt as if she was just jabbing at any part of my skin. The nurse was visually counting the cancers that she jabbed with the instrument--to insure that they get paid for each and every place that she touched. I was so happy to leave that office. At the end of the appointment, my thoughts were that this Dr. was more concerned about what he was going to get/or not get from insurance than sincerely caring for my skin issues. I would NOT recommend this Dr. to anyone who is at risk for skin cancer. I bet he treats patients who come there for cosmetic skin care better--sells them skin care products, people who pay out of pocket possibly. This of course is just an opinion. read more

I have been a patient of Dr Day's for several years as have my three adult children. He takes excellent care of us; I have had 3 Basel cell removals by Dr Day with no problems. My appointment times have been honored and his staff has been so nice to me. I am very happy with my care at this office. read more

I went a couple of times to see Dr. Day and my problem didn't get solved. I decided to stop going simply because I did not feel that I was being treated with respect. I came in with one issue but had some related and unrelated questions that the doc and his assistant would not let me ask. I've never gone to a doctor that wouldn't let me ask questions. They kept harping about insurance and billing. I didn't know that 1. I got billed per question and 2. that they could submit questions to my insurance company. I kept trying to tell them that like any other office visit I prepare a short list of questions to get answers for during my visits. Either way, they didn't want to listen. Listening is high on my list as a requirement for any doctor I see regularly. Here's how the conversation went at my last visit...After the nurse/assistant jotted down 3 questions I had and told me that was all they would take I asked: "So you're telling me, in order to get my other 2 questions answered, I have to make another appointment and pay another $30 copay?" Her reply, "Yes." I responded with "Ma'am these are not issues that need treatment and insurance billing. I'm just looking for an opinion of a doctor and thought while I'm here I could ask." Her response "Sorry" Then I said "I didn't realized I needed to prioritize my questions. In that case can I change what I want to ask?" She says to me... "I'm sorry but I've already written down the other ones." Me: "So can't you just get another piece of paper???" She says "I'm sorry" REALLY lady, you have got to be kidding me... By this point, I have a bad attitude and I was just ready to get outta there. Another thing Dr. Day told me was that water didn't do anything for your skin... are you serious? After that, I was done. I vowed to never return to this place. I guess you can say everything they said was said in a nice way but that doesn't change what fell out of their mouths. read more

Do not. I repeat to not go see this man. I had a bites down my leg from what was clear to me as bed bug bites. His assistant actually listened to me and showed more concern than he did. The earliest appointment i could get was a week out and by then the bites had turned into scars but were still visible and i had taken multiple pictures. He would not diagnose me or give me a medical report that was needed to give to insurance company of the apartment even though as a dermatologist who specializes in these things should be able to recognize and determine the cause. The condescending, rude sarcastic manner I was spoken to was absolutely unacceptable. He proceeded to ask me questions like "what time of day did i find the bed bug" and "which room were you staying in" . At that point i realized something was off. He was not interested at looking at my skin where i had gotten bit or the pictures i had taken but more interested in questioning who could have brought them in to the apartment and lecturing me on what time of day bed bugs come out. I went in to see a specialist for a diagnosis. I did not go in to see someone who would condescend me and belittle me. I walked out of the room feeling uncomfortable. This is not the type of treatment anyone should be receiving from a Doctor. I talked to an assistant manager and she told me "he must have been having an off day". Apparantly, unless you are going in to get an expesive treatment or cosmetic procedure you are treated with disrespect. read more

Run from this doctor! I went in for MOH surgery and wound up with a second "biopsy" on my FACE!! Looks like I had severe chicken pox!! He had gouged my forehead before I realized what he was doing. Of course no cancer cells were detected but he took skin down to the bone. Hope I never get a mild basal cell .....there is nothing left to take :( read more

I have got adult acne and have seen several dermatologists. I like Dr Day because he gave me several choices and explained my options. I choose a generic cycline which works great and only costs $12 every three months. I am on a maintenance schedule now, and only go in once or twice a year. read more

Yeah! Today I went for my 1 year check up after Dr. Day performed the MOHS procedure on my nose last year. I had a squameous cell carcinoma removed. All is well and I am cancer free. Dr. Day did a beautiful job. All of the office staff are just great and Dr. Day is the BEST. He never acts like he is in a rush. That is particularly important if he has a scapel in his hand! He always discusses any problems or answers any questions. Best Lesson learned: Wear Sunscreen and a Hat anytime you go outside*** read more

I have been to many dermatologists in my life, and my experience with Dr. Day was the absolute worst. He spent a mere 5 minutes with me and didn't seem at all concerned about my issues. Also, he wrote me the most expensive prescriptions of new products (which he surely gets paid to promote) even thought I asked for the generic. I called back and asked he write another prescription I could afford (the generic) and he told his nurse that no matter what it wouldn't be covered under my insurance (Retin A) and it didn't matter no matter how much i insisted my insurance does cover it. After several phone calls and much resistance on his part, he finally called in the generic script. After my script ran out a year later, I called to set an appointment and asked him to call one last script in while I was waiting to get in for my appointment, and his policy is that you have to come in before he will call anything else in. Any doctor I've ever been to in my life will call you in a script while you are waiting to get in with a set appointment. I think he is money hungry and greedy and clearly doesn't care about the patients needs. I will NOT be returning, and would recommend that anyone else go visit Dr. Gold in Nashville who is the BEST.
