I've purchased 2 Subarus from Evergreen and continue to have great experiences with sales and service. The sales folks are not pushy like at other dealers I've been to and are happy to let you test drive as many vehicles as you need to make an informed decision. The service department has an appointment free drive up service for quick oil changes. The waiting room has coffee and snacks to enjoy while you wait. Update from 1 day after the above review: be careful if your buying a used car from them. I purchased a certified pre-owned, but Subaru filled out the paperwork as if it was a new vehicle because it was one they used as a rental. This raised a lot of problems when I tried to register the vehicle. This is because the town office needs the entire window sticker to register the car not the typical used car window sticker. It took multiple phone calls to Evergreen and having them stay on the line while they faxed documentation to the town office. The town office suspect that this is because car dealerships are not staying on top of what the state requires them to provide for documentation. It appears Evergreen might be one of these dealerships that isn't up-to-date with their compliance training. read more

I sold a vehicle to Evergreen via KBB instant offer. I was satisfied with the amount, but there was an issue with the title which wasn't discovered until the last monument, which was unimpressive. It took over 3 weeks to get my check, partially due to title issue but mostly to dealer. I called several times and was told a different story every time. I was told is was already in the mail, to it was being sent Fedex and finally I spoke with manager. I explained the situation and he stated that the check was cut the day before and on it's way (2 1/2 weeks after paperwork was signed). He explained the situation that the sale person was miss informed and finally that there was a covid outbreak and people were out. Wondering why the run around and not the truth from the get go. The manger was not very apologetic and treated me like I was part of the problem, not professional. The check was dated Sept 24 and the envelope was post marked Oct 1. The sales manager told me it was mailed on Sept 27 but reality it was mail after I spoke with him on Sept 30 because of the Oct 1 post mark. read more

Worst experience with a dealership ever! it started off great. They were kind and welcoming and I bought 2 vehicles. Left with mine and within hours had issues so I brought it right back only to find out the transmission was going. A little over a month later it is finally replaced so I go to pick it up and ask for a new temp tag and am told no I can't do that and the best the sales manager Justin could do was "give me a sharpie" so basically once they get your money don't expect the same customer service! read more

Second time trying to deal with this business and customer service has been awful! I don't like to leave bad reviews, but today I was really upset! I needed assistance with my vehicle and while I understand in my distress I called Subaru Roadside assistance and set up the towing service and then called them, they could at least have tried to work with me and not pass it off as a regular maintenance issue! I was already frazzled and just needed to get assistance not patronized. Then when I said where I had originally had purchased my vehicle it made it worse! Our concerns however proved to be unfounded, as our experience at Evergreen Subaru was delightful. We did not like the first car we looked at but our salesman JD, "a delightful young Englishman" Answered our questions in a respectful no nonsense manner and helped us find a great Subaru Outback that met our needs. This negative review applies only to the call center for the service department. I called 2-3 weeks in advance to make an appointment to have my car serviced before a 2000 mile trip. The representative pushed me to Express Service. I explained that it's a 90 minute drive for me to get to Auburn and I wanted an appointment. Still she pushed Express Service. Back and forth we went several times. I told her repeatedly that I wasn't driving that far for service to not have an appointment. Finally she made (I thought) an appointment for me. When I arrived at Evergreen, there was no appointment for me on the books. My 30,000 service was almost due but it couldn't be done because I didn't have an appointment and they were totally booked. Joel in Service was very accommodating but I wish I had the name of person on the phone. She should be FIRED! Moral of story is to not believe an appointment has been made at Evergreen Subaru. Next time I'll call back immediately and confirm that it's in system. One should not travel 90 minutes for an appointment that the representative never made. The call center should train it's representatives to LISTEN to the caller and stop pushing Express Service. read more

Seemed like nice people all around. But I will say we checked twice about a used car being in stock and they confirmed it again that morning, and we drove quite a long way to see it only to find out it was already on hold. Both cars we were coming to look at. So, they didn't check the right database. And they wasted about 4hrs of our time round trip and figuring it out there. They said they would follow up but next heard from them about the incident again. We bought a car from our friendly neighborhood used car shop. So, I guess I would just say specifically reference the concern that they check to see if it is on hold. Apparently they have two lists and the people we asked didn't think to check the one that mattered. Can never get that time back. Took off work for half a day. What a waste. read more

When do the brakes fail? At 4pm on the day before the 4th of July, of course! My husband and I were traveling through Maine to get home to New York, and every auto shop we called (9 different places) said they didn't have an appointment available for 3 weeks!! Then we called Evergreen Subaru, and they were willing to take a look in their "Express Bay." I don't think we've ever felt more relieved. The whole team at Evergreen was wonderful--from Kathy who checked us in and calmed us down (and told a really funny joke about a seagull), to Joel who moved mountains in his packed appointment book to make room for us, to Becca who got us set up in a loaner vehicle so our vacation could continue while the repairs were handled. Our experience with Evergreen has been less than stellar, although the owner really did work hard to fix the various issues and mistakes that seemed to keep endlessly occurring. First, a caveat. I'm not the best person to do the review as it was my husband who had the bulk of interactions with Evergreen. I don't remember all of the specifics, in large part because I was in California during the initial inspection and repairs. The gist is that John took my car to Evergreen because we'd gotten a notice of a factory recall. And while they were at it, could they please put a sticker on the car? (I'd bought the vehicle used less than a year before from another, very reputable, dealer.). In addition to addressing the recall issue, John was told the vehicle needed a thousand dollars worth of work. Since Evergreen has a good reputation, he said "Do it", even though we hadn't thought it needed anything. He also asked for a second key since when we bought it, no second key came with it. Among the work they stated was needed was an alignment, which made little sense because I'd just had 4 tires put on the car and a complete alignment done (at another shop). Their explanation was - essentially - that the other shop didn't know what it was doing. A bunch of other work was to be performed. Evergreen said they would call John at approximately X time to let him know what they found on the inspection. He had to call them several hours later to find out what was up. They'd apparently just forgotten to call him. This happened several times (during the initial inspection, then during the follow up work.) I got the car back, and it now had a shimmy at high speeds. The invoice included the second key on it, which my husband paid for even though it hadn't arrived. Many phone calls; many meetings. The key was paid for. No it wasn't. it says so on the invoice. Well the invoice is wrong. Etc. They didn't notice any shimmy. Well, it's there. The owner got involved, rode in the car himself, felt the vibrations, and made sure it was fixed. Then acceleration became an issue, and an error message of some kind started flashing on my dashboard. John called. They'd never heard of such an error message and didn't know what to tell him. My husband eventually found out what the message was by searching on-line, and told them what it meant! John also went through the 3 page invoice (we were told it was actually 4 pages, but didn't get a copy of the fourth page), and determined that based on Subaru's own published information, that we'd been overcharged... possibly in a couple of places, but definitely in one area. Again, John called. The owner agreed that his staff had overcharged us. We're supposed to be getting a small refund for the one $50 overcharge. And he agreed that we had already paid the $120 for the 2nd key. Throughout all of this the owner seemed to do his best to fix everything - once he got involved - but my husband must have spent 10-15 hours dealing with all of the many issues, each time getting a different person who seemed to have no history of what was going on. This was at the beginning of July. We still haven't received the final paperwork on the car, nor the reimbursement for the overcharge. John called the owner last week, who acknowledged the omissions, but said he was a little swamped with work. Would we go there again? Questionable. Evergreen has an excellent reputation, and the owner obviously is trying very hard to make things right. But there were so many mistakes, and with the need to stay on top of them for everything, we aren't particularly comfortable with the quality of the service from the staff. read more

Every experience with Evergreen Subaru has been fantastic. They are very helpful if you work on your own car and have a waiting room with entertainment, wi-fi, snacks, and drinks if you bring your car in for service. They work with several racing teams and they carry this precision to all the cars they service. All work has been top notch. Can't say enough good things about them. I'm very displeased with the service at Evergreen and with the poor customer service they have and continue to provide. I had bought a $25000 used car only to be told by the used car sales manager 3 weeks back that if I would spend the extra 4-5 grand I wouldn't have the issues. Before buying the vehicle I was promised a list of cosmetic issues were to be fixed before purchasing the vehicle which NONE were fixed. My vehicle has been in their shop 2 times now. After being in their shop the 1st time for the recon work they had NOT fixed and had promised me before purchasing the vehicle, they had also put 2 dents in the hood. I had to reschedule the appointment for the dents AGAIN today, December 6th because Evergreen failed to tell me when I called at 2:30pm to check the progress on my vehicle that the dent specialist wasn't in today due to the weather (Which I understand 100%) Come 5:30pm when I call to check on my vehicle again for Evergreen to tell me that they can't find my vehicle, after talking to 3 different workers they had finally found my vehicle and that the dent specialist wasn't in until next Monday December 13th to potentially have the work NOT be done once again. read more

This is a review for Evergreen's Service & Parts Department. My usual place was booked and I was about to drive across the country, putting 5,000+ miles on my 2012 Forester (Franky). In a mental fog, I booked an appointment and then showed up the day before at the same time. The service department not only honored my appointment (even though I was there on the wrong day, because I'm an idiot), they WASHED my car and provided me with FREE snacks and tea, hilarious daytime TV to watch in a comfy waiting room, magazines to read, and chalk boards to doodle on. For the kids or the four-legged friends, there are books and dog biscuits. I admit I waited until I had arrived safely in SF to review this place.... but I remain impressed! They *could have* totally charged me an arm and a leg in the name of preventative measures (I was worried about taking such a heavy load for so many miles), but they charged me just the state inspection fee and nothing. else. I will absolutely be taking my Franky here next time I'm in Maine, it's worth the drive!! read more

So there I was Saturday morning at Poland Springs Campground to wake up to a flat tire on my Subaru. Sunday I need to drive back to CT so I need this tire fixed now. So I figured the best place to go was straight to a dealer because they'd have what I needed in stock. I call Evergreen Subaru and they scheduled me for an appointment in two hours. I didn't have much else going on so I brought it in an hour early and figured I'd go to breakfast. They took my car and before my appointment was scheduled to take place, they said they had found a slow leak in the seal, resealed it, and sent me on my way, even with a fresh car wash. I was expecting this would all cost a pretty penny seeing as it was a dealer, but it turned out to be $25 and change. I was amazed and the fast service on a Saturday for so little. If that was the end of the story it would be the best day ever. Unfortunately at the end of my half hour trip back the tire light came back on. So I called the dealer back and they apologized and said bring it right back and they'd take another look. Turns out they found a small slice on the inside wall of the tire which could not be patched and they'd have to replace the tire. Fortunately I'd only have to replace the one since the car is still pretty new. They also took a fair bit off and didn't charge for labor since I had to come back. What I'm trying to say is they made it well worth coming back. It was a little bummer that a fair chunk of my weekend was lost the customer service this dealership provides is above and beyond my expectation and I'm glad they're open even on the weekend. The waiting room has nice leather couches, a huge tv, a pretty big book collection, and toys for kids. I could not be happier what what I got from the dealer. They felt bad they didn't catch the slice the first time and I had to drive back but mistakes happen and they very well made up for it. If their sales are anything like their service this is a great place! read more

Came back to pick it up and they said it didn't have a valid inspection sticker after I signed all the paperwork for financing. Not impressed that they sold me a car and took almost a third of the vehicle's value as a down payment without the car being ready to drive off the lot. I get so frustrated with evergreen! I bought my first WRX there. But have switched to Charlie's to purchase vehicles. Sad since evergreen is in my home town. I have had issues with my current Subaru with multiple warning lights coming on for no reason. Whenever I called, I was told to bring the car in while the lights were on and they would diagnose it. Today it happened at a time when I was close to evergreen and they were open. So I went in. Now I don't expect free service but since this was not scheduled and since never once in the several phone calls and 2 prior visits (once the service tech had left and another time the car was turned off and the lights went away) was there any mention that it would be close to $100 for them to put it on the machine to evaluate. Now normally this would not be an issue but since this was unplanned and I was on my way to work, I did not have $100 on me....so I had to leave. Next time I will drive to Charlie's for service too. read more

I was at first impressed with this dealership by its low-key sales staff (except for the extremely hard pitch to buy an extended warranty, which I didn't go for). I don't like a hard sell! I decided on a new Outback and was given a fair price, but had to wait for the car. That's not unusual. Finally picked up my lovely car. But on the 50 minute drive home it became obvious that it didn't fit my frame. It has a rather aggressive adjustable "lumbar support" which I couldn't adjust to fit me. And my feet didn't reach the pedals easily. Both combined to produce a nerve pain in my leg and back. And I don't have back or leg issues. So I called them the next business day and told them I would like to return the car and exchange perhaps for a CrossTrek. The salesperson I had been dealing with asked his manager and said that it could be fully refunded except for taxes. I had a trip planned so we agreed I would return the car the following week and I took my old car on the trip instead. To make a long story shorter, before I had a chance to return the car I spoke (accidentally) with one of the financial guys and found out I was not getting a refund after all. Instead I was getting the trade--in value on a used 2016 Outback (keep in mind this car now has a whopping 75 miles on it.) This value was almost $4000 less than what I paid for the car (cash). After prodding by other dealers (including a friend who now works for a local dealer) I contacted the owner (found via BBB) who immediately got back to me and said "it would be fixed." End result: I was given a check for about $1900 less than I paid. So why am I not happy? Well, they should have never given me a hard time about returning the car after one drive. If they hadn't, I would be driving one of their CrossTreks. If hadn't had the gumption to find the owner's name and contact him, I would have been stuck with a huge financial loss. And finally, I am apparently now on their black list. I'm not vindictive and so I did ask about their CrossTreks when I picked up the check. They told me to have a nice day. I asked them if they could give me their best price on a CrossTrek. They said: if they did, I would just go elsewhere and use that to get a better price. I emailed them to get a quote. They never answered my email. So I'm buying my CrossTrek elsewhere. Stay clear of these guys. There was something not quite right about this whole situation. First, they did not happily refund me for a car that was clearly wrong for me and I had only driven home. Second, they did refund me a good bit, but not the entire amount. Third, they refused to give me a written quote on a CrossTrek (every other dealer has). Finally, they clearly wanted nothing to do with me as a customer. I would have traded that car in for a CrossTrek the same day!! I was never rude. I never accused them of anything. I wasn't anything more than intelligent about getting my money back on a new car that was hurting me. I would have happily bought the CrossTrek from them had they been interested after I got the return check. Go to Charlie's or Pape, but don't go to Evergreen. Every dealer I have talked to has said they would have refunded me the entire amount especially if I was going to buy another car from them. Evergreen did everything they could to get me back in there without telling me what they were going to do. It seemed pretty seedy. read more

Talked to 4 sales people about the same car, Sally being the worst of the entire crew. 2 of them didn't even know they had the car, and when I asked for a simple video of the vehicle running(I would be driving it 1100 miles home) apparently not a single sales person is competent to use a cell phone to send me a video of it running. I asked 3 different times, and no responses. And suddenly I get a email that states, sorry the vehicle has been sold. I made an appointment with evergreen to have my 2015 subaru outback detailed. When I returned for it I was disappointed to say the least. I got the service manager Joel to come outside and look at it. He was himself flabbergasted. Joel was a perfect gentleman. He did not argue the facts with me at all. They gave me a car and absolutly made it right. 100%. He could not apologize enough. So my point is we have all paid for bad service. I guess that the defining matter is how it is handled. An error was made yes but they went above and beyond to make it right and charged me zero. I am forever an evergreen customer. They know how to do business and do it right. This was a great experience!!! After two bad experiences, we took our leased vehicle to Evergreen Subaru. They could not have been more helpful. We were able to facilitate the last two payments and turn in the vehicle quickly and easily. We had our 3 Labradors in the other car. They indicated that they were a dog-friendly dealership and we took them in to the showroom. If we had not already signed a contract for another brand of SUV, we would have purchased a Subaru from them. They value customers and customer service.
