They are a sham. It doesn't matter your credentials or skills, you'll apply and never, ever hear anything back. They'll then use information from your resume to drum up new business for themselves. A friend who worked there told me this is what they did. I checked their "privacy"policy and there it was under "How We Use Your Information": "To inform our clients, candidates and business partners about our services;" Tell me why my employment history has anything to do with informing their business partners about what they do? Oh and and if the government comes calling, they'll sell you out to them as well. Under "Information We Share": "When reasonably requested or required by law enforcement authorities or other government officials" Absolute waste of time. These guys are the worst. read more

My review for Creative Circle is one star ONLY because Yelp does not offer the option to review someone with anything less. I have over 15 years of design and entertainment experience on my résumé. I'm on the Creative Circle "hot list" e-mail blast opportunities. I've applied to multiple opportunities that were a perfect fit for me. Yet...I did not receive any responses from Creative Circle. I followed up with phone calls to Creative Circle. I was told by the receptionist that she had no idea which recruiter is assigned to the posted jobs and that if the recruiter assigned to the particular job posting found that my qualifications met their needs, they would contact me. Personally, this is an antiquated job placement practice to me!! I would think that to maximize efficiency, the recruiters assigned to the posted opportunities would be made transparent so that job placement would be more productive. Or...at the very least, a job posting should include a specific contact name at Creative Circle so that a potential candidate can follow up with due diligence. I recently discovered that Creative Circle has been posting employment opportunities on Craig's List. This leads me to 2 conclusions. 1 - Creative Circle, a specialized job placement company, isn't capable of securing qualified, creative talent utilizing their own internal resources so they depend on Craig's List, a free community posting website. 2 - The companies that look to Creative Circle as their go to creative placement agency should skip the middle man and post the job opportunities on Craig's List directly. About 2 months after I signed up with Creative Circle, I started freelancing for a company that ended up hiring me full time. Finding a job in this economy is difficult. After flailing around for months trying to land a job on my own, I was able to get an interview with Creative Circle. I got excellent advice on my portfolio presentation from this meeting that was worth my time alone- without even getting a job. After I modified my presentation, they were able to land me an excellent opportunity I would have never otherwise been able to get myself. This is where the true value of an agency comes in. Professional assistance, and professional advice matching you with an appropriate employer. In the end, they would not be able to stay in business if they were not able to get people jobs. Working with any agency or representation means that you have to stay on top of them to push things forward. In this regard, everyone at the agency has been responsive at every step - and this includes timely payment and proper negotiations with employers. I would not hesitate to recommend this agency to anyone who is seeking work in the advertising, or advertising related services, field. read more

FYI 25% of the reviews (42 out of 155) are 1 star only....a large number of five stars wrote "the receptionist was nice, offered me water, and I'm excited to work with them"...not one mention of job offers of interviews. Just to qualify myself: Emmy nominated designer and motion graphics artist since 2000, the first nine spent working for a productions house in Hollywood. The person that contacted me initially was receptionist. The recruiter was Lauren Christiansen. She was very friendly and fast with her presentation and was very adamant about my finishing the paperwork asap at the appointment which I declined. I emailing all paperwork and I started getting the emails with open positions. EACH asks for three bullet points as to why you're qualified and samples of your work (I thought the whole idea of being represented was for them to have my portfolio url and relevant qualifications).... I emailed Lauren Christiansen two times over a period of a week to find out if I can include url's instead of large quicktime as samples. No response. I emailed a third time and called the receptionist to request a response to my email (she had JUST stepped into a meeting as I called....probably signing someone else up). I received a response the following day to my question all be it incredibly vague because they continue to ask for attachment yet she told me not to attach quicktime....I'M AN ANIMATOR....MY PRODUCTS ARE QUICKTIMES. I've submitted approximately three resumes a day for open positions for a month...haven't received even an email acknowledging that I've been considered for anything. UPDATE 10/18/2017 I was contacted by Shannon at the Wilshire office in regards to a resume I submitted asking me to call her. I did. She was unavailable. I called again the next day. She was unavailable. I called again. She was unavailable. I left numerous messages and two emails but never heard back. After one week I was able to get her on the phone. She didn't know exactly why she called me. While I had her on the phone I made inquires regarding operational procedures used in the resume submission process in order to optimize my submission information and formats. I wanted to know if our resumes are converted into an ATS compliant format which the majority of HR departments use as a software in order to automatically accept or reject resumes based on something as small as listing "cell" for the phone number as opposed to "phone", the former creating a situation where the phone number isn't read and may eliminate the resume. Shannon said she was aware of the existence of ATS software but didn't know anything about them. She said they just send the resumes we attach to our email. I would assume they simple forward our emails to the job postings. I was told that none of their clients are exclusive. I'm assuming these postings are the same ones that are posted on other job boards along with the open graphic design position that's never closed and got me into their office to meet a recruiter. Yesterday I received an opportunity for a marketing manager.....I'm a motion graphics artist. Shannon wasn't able to answer these questions so I asked to speak with her manager Katy (she couldn't provide her last name in order "to protect her privacy"). Really? Katy did call back promptly in less than an hour and I asked if she was aware of the ATS compliance resume issue and she replied that it wasn't a concern because most of their clients don't ask for it and if some do, Creative Circle has an entire department of workers sitting there manually inputing your resume information. This seems pretty time consuming so I'm not sure how they are able to do this. I did ask her what percentage of their clients were exclusively working with Creative Circle but I was told that none do. I asked what percentage of applications lead to a hiring but I was told that Creative Circle isn't required to track that data per industry standards. I would assume they would be curious to know from a business standpoint but I was told that they've been making more in revenue each year and they don't track it.... At this point I believe Katy wasn't willing or didn't have the capacity to answer any of the questions completely so she was gracious enough to offer to pass me over to HR by having them contact me even though Katy is the manager. I'm looking forward to hearing back from them in order to learn more about the recruiting industry thus allowing me to be a much better candidate for their needs as soon as I can clarify what those are and how they will use the information effectively. As of 1/2/17 my questions have never been answered. I just called and asked them to delete all of my information and to send a confirmation email stating that I am not associated with them in any way. I haven't received the email as of yet. I now understand why their bloody circular logo looks like what you would see on the back of a horse. read more

I was freelancing and looking for a full-time position for about 2 years. I'm based out in OC, but they did show me a lot of opportunities around the LA area. When an opening did open up in OC, I was contacted and was given a shot to interview with the company. I got hired and have been with the company for over a year now--one of the top agencies with offices worldwide. I feel pretty lucky. Not only did they help me land an interview, they helped me through the negotiation process as well--that's to their benefit as well. Although I probably could have done it without CC since I had some contacts there, they were the first to get me a lead and I'm thankful for that. Sure there's lots of crappy employers and crappy gigs out there, but you just half to filter through that stuff and hope to find one that works out for you. Half of it is luck and availability. If you're qualified, they'll try extra hard to place you since that's how they make their money. CC probably has the largest job listing compared to some of their competitors from my experience. The worse case scenario for those who aren't having any lucky yet is that it can't hurt to sign up with them. Crappy jobs are better than no job. read more

I'm going to give a 5/5 for this agency because the several others I tried can not hold a candle. Creative Circle has been, from the very beginning, the most efficient and sincere staffing agency. I've had multiple representatives who not only called me weekly to present new interview opportunities and check on my freelance status (in regards to the great companies I was already working with) but also email me with new job offers around my area daily. Competitive agencies have you look through their forums, which is not only time consuming, but similair to any generic recruiting site out there. Finally, I was only reluctant to take on the full time job offer I got through them because I would no longer be working with Creative Circle. I've been in the Design field for about 10 years now. They have hooked me up with some great opportunities over the years. I started looking for more work recently, I needed to come in to interview with a new recruiter named Shannon so they could get an update on me. Start to finish, this has been a great experience. She is full of energy, friendly and eager to place me somewhere. The email list is great to see new jobs to apply to. Her and the team of other recruiters call constantly with new opportunities. Phone calls and emails are responded to almost immediately. I feel like they're definitely here to help me out. Quite frankly, I'm surprised how quickly she's been able to pull this all together. By the end of the week I was already doing in person interviews. High five ^5 From other reviews it looks like some people get hooked up even faster. The Berlin Wall exhibit downstairs is cool too. I had a great experience with Creative Circle. I heard back from them only a few days after I signed up on their LA site. Cherrie Daskaloff was my recruiter and she was awesome, so excited about my work and immediately thought of me for a few things. She gave me a lot of excitement and confidence from the meeting alone, a good way to kick off my time in LA! Reception was also great and everyone was super responsive. I ended up leaving the area much sooner then I had anticipated so didn't end up applying for anything from their list, but they interviewed me for a couple of things and I could see that if I stayed in town more things would have come my way. My advice is to keep up with them and try applying for a bunch of jobs, no matter how small they might seem, it could turn into something bigger for you. If the pay feels too little but the job sounds good, you could always do it as a temporary gig and re-negotiate with the company once they get to know you. The only thing that I hated about Creative Circle - and it is unrelated to job searching - is that they give you a free bottle of Nestle water. Nestle is currently under fire for taking vast quantities of California's limited water resources through dubious means. You can find out more on Sum of Us campaigns, or Move On, or Courage Campaign which recently sued them. I urge Creative Circle to end their relationship with Nestle. I have had a very positive experience with Creative Circle and the wonderful folks there. They are friendly, helpful, and do communicate with me via email and phone. My last gig with them was over the holidays for a week, and I just had an interview with another employer yesterday. To be balanced in my review and address what others have stated, It's true that the talent agents do not always get back to you. However, I don't think it's necessary to do so every time you apply for a job. They do contact you personally when an employer is interested in you. That said, like any other professional pursuit, it pays to reach out and communicate. I took it upon myself to learn the names of the agents working on my behalf, I send them emails when I update my portfolio/website, call them after an interview, and even send them an "I'm still here!" email every so often--in other words, I attached a person (me) to my printed name in the database. And now, sometimes, I will even get a call from one of the agents if they have something they think might work for me. Of the 5-10+ daily employment opportunities I receive, I'd say 70%-80% are exact matches, another 10%-20% are potentials with some wiggle room, and about 10%-20% are pushed through en masse that I'm not entirely qualified for---but I'm cool with that because it let's me know what the market wants and where I may want to expand my skill set. All-in-all Creative Circle is a powerful tool in my employment arsenal. I get 5-10 filtered job opportunities emailed to me every day without any effort on my part ... I reply to the one(s) I feel suited for and Creative Circle submits me to the prospective employer... If the employer is interested, then Creative Circle does all the work for me: they set up the interview, follow up with employer post interview, and, if I get the gig, they file all my paperwork and pay me weekly. All this is without paying an advanced fee nor with a cut from the rate that's advertised to me in the job opportunity. Not bad at all, in my opinion. read more

She had my info, asked all the right questions, quickly got me situated in a comfortable conference room with wifi, etc. Desiree is tops!! I really liked her. Beautiful office, great building. I really like CC and what they're all about. My recruiter was extremely focused on me getting new work. She was very patient with me when it came to deciding over multiple job offers. My recruiter deserves 5-stars, but I had to knock off one star because my onboarding experience was sub-par compared to other recruiting companies I've worked with. They didn't know I was already in their system and I almost had to go through the setup process all over again because of the lack of organization. Creative Circle does well with finding people work, but they need to focus a bit more on the total experience. There is more to working with a recruiting company other than just getting a new job. I've been "registered" with them for over 3 years, so you can trust this review. They make you trudge all the way down to their offices. Then they keep you waiting. Then you meet with someone for only 15 minutes. Then they make promises. Then you get emails and then you never get an interview. I answered an email ad for Creative Circle and never heard back from them. Six months later the company that placed the ad with them called me directly and I did a huge project and was paid well. Terrible. Don't waste your time. They'll send you tons of emails. You can respond but it often goes nowhere - even if you are highly qualified. They don't do any work for you. They use software to filter candidates, and this is far from perfect. Good people get filtered out all the time. Getting a job with them becomes more about the luck of the draw. If you happen to have a close connection with someone in their office, you'll have an easier time getting a gig. And when you do get a gig, they'll take half your money. read more

Agencies like these take a huge chunk of what the client pays. You will get something like 40% of what the client is paying (or less. Just in case you're mathematically challenged: They charge the client MORE THAN TWICE what you get. If they offer you $20/hr they're likely charging the client is paying $50 or more PER HOUR. They never show you the amount the client is paying...so, they can practically get away with paying you anything they want.) For full-time employment: they charge the client a "finder's fee". They charge the client about 10% of your future salary. (I've had clients tell me...that if they had a choice between hiring me through an agency or someone else who just came off the street...they would hire the person from the street -- all because they wouldn't have to pay that extra fee to agencies like CC.) So, agencies like CC actually make it harder for you to get a job. CC makes you sign paper work that says that you can't approach the same client on your own for a freelance or permanent job FOR UP TO A YEAR or longer. Yes, you heard right. They block you from getting a job directly with the same client...unless they get to charge you and the client money. They act like they own you like a slave. If you got laid off from a job you loved because of the economy, forget about being called by your former employer to take on the job when the economy picks up. CC will call them and offer to fill your position for less than you were getting paid. If you find your own clients...say goodbye to your clients. Since they know how much you charged them, they will call them and offer them someone to do your type of work for less. Parasite agencies like CC destroy the possibility of honest and hard-working people like you from earning a living. I've watched them over the years and saw how they practically destroyed the market by lowering and lowering the posted "rates" for positions. Graphic designers used to get paid $40/hr before CC started. Now CC only offers about $20/hr (or less). I know people who didn't even graduate from high school with no technical skills or talent, who make more than that. Agencies like this help employers avoid paying for medical, 401K for retirement, or benefits. This may be equivalent to about $30K or more per year. You will have to pay those expenses out of your own pocket, sooner or later. A recruiter from Canada said it best. He said that agencies should not be taking a cut from the job seeker (who are usually broke). The fees should ALL be paid by the employer. There's no reason for agencies like CC to exist any more. They are an outdated concept and part of the past. read more

Really disappointed with this recruiting agency. The recruiter I met with seemed very nice and it seemed promising but it all went downhill from there. I must have applied to at least 10 jobs with them, some directly with the person whom I met with and some through other emails. The communication is very poor. Some of the jobs I applied for got filled, but they didn't reach out to let me know until I asked. Then other jobs I applied to I just flat out never received a response even though I was more than qualified for these roles. Other times, a recruiter would call and text me "NEED TO TALK ASAP" then I apply, and literally never hear back from that. I don't get it, it seem like they are just flat out lying to people. In a market where a person it without a job and needs to find employment asap, this is totally unacceptable. I figure that this company doesn't actually have any exclusive clients they work with. If I could give this place zero stars I would. Let me first explain, I had all intentions on making my experience with Creative Circle a positive one. I thought Creative Circle could assist me with my job search as I relocated from Michigan to California. Being a recent college graduate I knew I didn't have tons of professional experience in the entertainment industry and I thought Creative Circle could help aid my search.They were ABSOLUTELY no help, I didn't receive any kind of contact from them, besides the times in which I took initiative to contact them. I Had to call in multiple times to have them adjust my profile, it took them weeks on end to even complete that, and even after they made the "so-called" proper adjustments so that they could find positions that fit my background, I still never heard a word from them. I tried to be very patient and understanding with them over the past couple months, but today (8/1/2016) I am totally done with Creative Circle. I called in just to ask a recruiter some general questions to see how I could better improve my chance to find work, and what I got was a receptionist that was the epitome of RUDE. She told me the recruiters already reviewed my profile and said I didn't meet the "so-called" requirements for the positions at Creative Circle, she said I must have at least 2+ years work experience for any positions listed on Creative Circle (Which is crazy because I gave them info on my background and experience when I first began working with them and they seemed eager to help me out). I understand that being a recent graduate I don't have multiple years of work experience in the industry, but that's what I thought Creative Circle would help me with. Though this was disappointing, this interaction wasn't what pissed me off. What really angered me was that the receptionist then went on a tangent trying to belittle my portfolio. Now as I've mentioned, I don't have a substantial worth of experience, but graduating with a BA degree, completing 2 entertainment internships, and building my own freelance company from the ground up is more then most people in my position. Not to mention I've only been out of school for 6 months. I won't go into the petty details, but her behavior was simply uncalled for, and I won't be disrespected by a company that hasn't helped me one bit. Anyone looking for entry-level positions of any kind I highly suggest that you not look to Creative Circle. Also, for those that have experience behind them, I suggest for you to disregard Creative Circle as well, because the staff is terrible and does not look out for your best interest. If for any creative reason the client refuses to pay you , say because he or she preferred red instead of blue or had creative differences with your direction, creative circle will not pay you, even if you worked like a "dog" on the project. I tried with them for a while, even made certain changes to my c.v., per one recruiter (honest changes to better tailor my c.v. to the position in question). When I called to follow up with the recruiter, it was clear to me that despite all my efforts, she hadn't remembered to send my c.v. for the job I think I had a good shot at. Do stay away from Owen in particular--my experience of him was that he was a slick, empty glad-hander who lied to me about a job (this I do know!). I feel that same way. I did get one callback after many, many tries. I think the problem is they send the same people out all of the time.

This is really a review for the newer OC office. My relationship started in LA, before they opened the OC office, but I was then transferred. The process of evaluating me/us/the talent is very dry. There appeared to be no inherent understanding of my skill set nor any real desire to understand what my target was. I was given a very quick and broad Q&A about what I've done and what I was interested in. That's well and good, and I certainly don't need hand holding, career coaching, resume review, skills assessment or any of that. Just don't treat one like a simple commodity or piece of meat. Take some real interest in placing people. Over 2 years, I received many emails for jobs. One in 100 were perm, the rest freelance. Jobs were in the wrong geographical area or only slightly flirting with my actual skill set. Fail. When I wanted to re-align my profile with CC staff, it took a couple of weeks. When I finally contacted -Nameless- in OC, it was as before. Treated as an inconvenience and hurried along, even told off a bit that I shouldn't have expected an answer. You see the disclaimer in their email, "We apologize in advance if we're unable to connect with you in person for each of your submissions. As you can imagine, we get quite a few responses. We are committed to review and evaluate each applicant's qualifications." As I mentioned before, I find that last sentence to be false. So, Creative Circle and certain folks in Orange County in particular, the payoff for the mistreatment just isn't there. Folks will have MUCH better success finding the types of jobs they post by doing their own networking through Chamber of Commerce, Personal and Business Networking, LinkedIn and even Craigslist. I landed a few (hellish) assignments through them. Both robbed me of my energy, my personal time, and a bit of my soul. I was so stressed out after the second one that my immune system was shot and what started as bronchitis soon turned into walking pneumonia. Per my doctor's orders, I was put on temporary disability so that I could rest and recover. A few months later when I was ready to go back to work, I was told by whoever took my call that Creative Circle was no longer willing to represent me. I asked why and if it was because of any negative feedback from the two clients I worked for and was told no, those reviews were fine. "There's just too much history" is what I was told. If it wasn't my performance the only thing it could have been was that I got sick. So, be careful. They'll let you exhaust yourself trying to pay your bills and keep their clients happy but if you happen to push yourself too far, they'll kick you to the curb. read more
