I get it, the staff deals with a regular community that may need extra guidance and patience, which gets repetitive, but there is absolutely no excuse for the patronizing tone and ice cold atmosphere. If you can't deal with the extra guidance and patience then GET ANOTHER JOB, I'll take your job. I was recommended to look into this by someone and when I jumped on their website site Wednesday evening, I saw they had a "Transitional employment opportunities", which is what I am looking for. They had orientation on Thursday morning, so I went. A few minutes into it, I learned that the "Transitional employment opportunities" were for "very rare cases" and they required a lot of steps before they would even consider if you would fall into that very rare case. I have all the other tools already. And they make no exceptions on skipping any steps. I asked for my sign-up sheet back and instead of maybe asking why, I was no longer interested, I saw up the nose of the staff. Without a "Sorry"..."Wish you the best" or even a "Bye" Again, extremely rude staff. So on top of the extremely rude staff, if you already have a resume and were just looking for help with transitional employment opportunities - I recommended staying clear of here, not worth your time. If you go, orientation is a good couple of hours. And they take your picture. So plan ahead.

BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you end up using Michelle, it will ruin all other agencies for you…read more I am a professional career nanny. I have over seven years of nannying experience, five years of teaching experience, and more. I have a B/S in childhood development as well as my MAT. When I began my search for a nanny-family in LA, I did my due diligence by shopping around looking at multiple agencies. I found that Michelle had the TOP RATED AGENCY ON MULTIPLE SITES and wanted to take a closer look. I read through every. single. review. I thought to myself, "Really? Every single person had a positive experience with this agency? That's just not statistically possible if she's really working with this many people..." I decided to set up a meeting. I drove to her office where we met to discuss particulars (what I'm looking for, what families are in the market for a nanny right now, what ages/salary/commute/hours I'm looking for) and the moment she opened the door and greeted me with a giant smile and her upbeat, positive attitude, I felt like just working with HER was my perfect placement! Once we started the process, Michelle was completely professional while also refreshingly honest and realistic in her suggestions. She really took the time to get to know me and what I was looking for and she only suggested me to families that she knew had the potential to be a "love match!" After looking at a few potential matches, Michelle called me to tell me that she had "found my family!" She said, "This is the one. Please go for an interview and see for yourself." So I did. This is the part of the review where I'm going to get annoyingly emotional. Not only did the family and I immediately "click," but Michelle had made sure that all of our stats were in alignment. The age range, schedule, amount of hours, commuting time, pay rate, expectations and needs happened to all align with what I was looking for. It was LITERALLY the PERFECT PLACEMENT!!!! Coincidence? I think not. Michelle is highly intelligent, professional, personable, understanding, diligent, experienced, communicative, and pleasantly charismatic and I owe my job satisfaction directly to her. Now that I think about it, maybe I should send over a bottle of wine. Thank you, Michelle, for just being so incredibly good at what you do. As I mentioned earlier, when I started this process, I read through every one of your (5 star) reviews and thought, "There's just no way every single review can be five stars..." and now here I am adding one more.

It seemed like I had landed a few dream jobs only for it to slip away from me. Really trying times. Then I met Michelle! This brings a smile to my face. Meeting with her felt like chatting with a friend. I realized after that this is her skill. She loves people and wants to represent both the families and the nannies. It was a slow period and she didn't have any job opportunities at the time when I signed up with her agency, the perfect placement. After being on the hunt for my top nanny job with a kind family for many months and it wasn't happening I was getting ready to move out of state. I mentioned to Michelle that I'm no longer looking for a position as it doesn't seem like it's going to happen. Michelle didn't give up on me. She called me with 2 opportunities. I went on both interviews and was called back to do a trial for the one that I wanted !! Yay !! Then Michelle negotiated some time off that I needed to take care of a health issue. The family was so wonderful they waited for me ! All I can say everything lined up perfectly. Michelle will always return your call in a timely manner and she always checks in to see how you're doing. I thank God I met Michelle !

I've parted ways with ACT-1 Entertainment Solutions for the third time now -- and in light of the…read morecircumstances of this latest exodus, I need to revise and update my testimonial. Let me first recount what Anna Browne Robinson told me last July regarding ACT-1's current status, because it has bearing on what followed. Basically, AppleOne acquired ACT-1 in a corporate merger just prior to the pandemic (which, incidentally, retroactively explains some of the problems I documented in my earliest testimonial). Then COVID happened and, unsurprisingly, everything went to hell. In the interim, ACT-1's basically been gutted and it's operations and accounts have be transferred to AppleOne's Glendale branch. Anna has inherited oversight and rebuilding of that account -- and therein lies the problem. As an outgoing client, it's my opinion that AppleOne erred here in assigning this particular manager to this particular account. Anna doesn't have an entertainment background and it's clear she's out of her depth and doesn't understand the industry. Worse, by her own admission, overseeing and rebuilding ACT-1's account is a secondary priority compared to her primary AppleOne work. She's unable and/or unwilling to put the time or energy into it. If anything, the impression I was left with is that Anna resents having this account foisted upon her and is deliberately doing the bare minimum in response. Anna was also unable to generate literally a single lead in the 6 months I tried working with her. Now, to be fair, the WGA/SAG Strikes last year disrupted the job market and ACT-1 got hammered. I'm NOT blind to that, or to the impossible situation she had to navigate. That said, I feel Anna could have done more to work around this or help me out. She refused to cross-market my resume for any non-entertainment roles and insisted her current clients only wanted ACT-1 veterans. She even had the temerity to ask if I'd just tried directly applying to entertainment jobs through their company websites (I very nearly hung up on her; in fact, this call was the last straw and precipitated my exit). Anna's professional behavior throughout all this was also just as frustrating. I stressed from the beginning of our collaboration that good communication and reliability were paramount given my previous experiences with AppleOne's Westwood branch (which I've covered in reviews on that page). Anna agreed...and then promptly did the exact opposite. I'm NOT exaggerating when I say it takes up to WEEKS to get her to respond to basic queries, voicemails, and messages. On at least one occasion, she stood me up on a conference call (one that took almost 2 weeks to set up) and ignored my emails trying to ascertain what happened or to reschedule -- at least until I made it clear she was forcing me to reevaluate my business relationship. THEN Anna got on the phone. On these occasions, Anna admitted she was either on vacation (without even bothering to notify clients she'd be out of the office and to make alternate arrangements) or she wasn't even bothering to check the ACT-1 email account on regular basis. And while Anna did ultimately did take responsibility for that conference call incident and admitted there was no excuse...she also never actually answered what had happened. By this point, it's now February and I've finally had enough. I had serious reservations about working with ACT-1 again after getting previously screwed over by Michelle Rossoff and Wanda Hallmark. But Anna seemed genuinely apologetic about my past experiences (and again the merger retroactively seemed to explain some of the problems last time). I was also desperate because of the Strikes and had to roll the dice. Well, just as I feared, I rolled snake eyes -- AGAIN. It doesn't matter that 4 years have passed, that the old guard has changed, or that there's been upheaval and reorganization. Literally NOTHING else has changed with ACT-1 Entertainment Solutions; the agency remains completely and utterly incapable of fulfilling the basic services it professes to advertise. It's absolutely INSANE; I genuinely don't understand HOW they're still in business or why AppleOne is tolerating this. So, in conclusion, I once more cannot recommend working with ACT-1, nor would I advise job seekers to work with Anna Browne Robinson (at least if you're approaching her for entertainment work; to be fair, I can't speak to her non-entertainment work). To AppleOne Management, here's my closing advice: I think it would be beneficial to all parties -- you, ACT-1, Anna, future clients, etc. -- if custodianship of the ACT-1 account and its rebuilding was to be reassigned to a different manager. It needs to be overseen by someone who actually HAS an entertainment background and knows the industry. It needs someone who can and will put the time and effort into rebuilding it, and who's going to make your clients feel valued and welcomed and not treat them like unwanted headcounts.
