Wendell Madison is a crook and bayside is scam. Believe every bad review you read. Do not get your boat repaired at this place they will lie and try to take advantage of you. This man (Wendell) lied to me on multiple occasions. I went in for a simple outboard motor swap and when writing the estimate he told me that all outboard motors had different hole patterns so my transom would have to be "redrilled for the new motor". This is a lie , hole patters on outboards have been the same for over 50 years. Then he told me he called bay marine to order a part and they "didnt return his call because they were affected by the hurricane and they probably wouldn't be able to ship it" . Well Bay Marine is in Ohio, no hurricanes there Wendell. Aand i called Bay and they never got a call from him. So I told him im not going to go threw with the service and now he is trying to charge me for a part he ordered that i never paid for that is "non-refundable". Also he lied and told me one price with labor then took that back after and said the price didn't include labor. They will make you sign the estimate, by signing this you agree to any additional expenses. They will always overcharge. These are predatory practices. AVOID THIS PLACE. read more

Contacted BS Marine for service on a boat I just purchased (used boat). Needed to establish a service relationship and get the outboard assessed. Communication with service manager was good and I brought the boat it. They looked it over, determined the appropriate service level needed, and communicated it promptly. This was all good. Was told I could pick the boat up on upcoming Saturday, per my request (not convenient to get there for me). I didn't receive a call on the Friday prior and I called on Saturday. The boat wasn't ready. Unfortunate, but not a big deal. Post service, I towed the boat up to Anacortes (90 minutes away), launched and discovered that it wouldn't get on a plane. Strong gas smell and eventually discovered the engine housing was filling with gas and leaking into the water. The day was over before it started, other than trailering the boat for 90 min. Had to coordinate to bring the boat back to Bayside.......again. Once there, it was diagnosed and fixed quickly. They failed to hook up a fuel line/filter during service. It's a nice place and the staff seemed pleasant. This was just a bad outcome for me and poor service experience without apology or concession. I assume this is not the standard service experience at Bayside. Just worked out that way for me. read more

I took my boat to Bayside Marine for a tune up on both my motors. I asked them to fix my steering. And I had a problem with the fuse holder for my downriggers that they installed.$1,200 labor chgs. When I got my boat back. On the work order they said all zerks greased. I found fir tree needles stuck to the old grease on a couple of zerks that weren't greased. It said in the work order that they glued the carpet back to the wall. It was falling down as soon as I got home. Highly disappointed!! Needless to say my bill was about $500 more than I expected. When I returned with my boat to the house my wife said , wow they couldn't even clean up the garbage in the back or glue the carpet to the wall? for the amount of money I paid I felt that everything should have been dress right dress! read more

Yesterday bought a brand new seawater pump for 1000$.... went and had the pulley remove and pressed. They stripped the threads out of the new pump when we went to get it pressed. Could only put the pulley half way on. Waited 2 hours for a 5 min job and then was told to go into the back of the shop to do it ourselves because they didn't want to be responsible for doing it themselves! I'm trying to see the point of going to a marine SHOP for work! Luckily I had a buddy with me that knew how to do it or nothing would have been done. The manager here was rude, irritated and lacked customer service experience to say the least. Manager kept saying we needed to rebuild a pulley... for those that don't know, a pulley is a bolt, no rebuilding needed for a bolt. Bottom line, this shop is a waste of time... literally. You wait and wait for rude, inexperienced staff that acts as though you are less than dirt. They clearly don't want to make money or return customers. read more

Had bayside look at tuning up my motor Yamaha 4 strike f100 and looking at a starting problem. They replaced the ecu because it had overheated, but it looks like I am having the same problem which they did not address properly and instead chose to swap parts to try to fix, the underlying problem was never addressed. I have been to Bayside Marine parts department several times in the last month. They are very busy and there has usually been a wait, but the service is exceptional - they take time to answer my questions, made a recommendation for a different oil than I selected when he heard me talk about the excess smoke from the outboard, and went around to help me find the right kill clip instead of just telling me where they were or that I should bring in my old one. I will definitely be returning. read more

Called to get my boat in for an annual oil change. Took 3 calls during normal business hours to get a person. He said the next available appointment was 3 weeks out, so I booked it. I gave him the info on my boat and the motor I bought there. Dropped it off on the way to work that day...befor they open and waited all day for a call, and finally called them.... same deal, no answer. Finally got a call back from the service manager who was rude... "We have a lot of boats here, how could we possibly know which boat is yours, and you expect us to work on it today?.... you drop it off and it will be done in a week or two"..... what? Then why make an appointment for 3 weeks out... just nicely say when I called the fist time you are 5 weeks out and when I drop it off it will not be ready the same day. So i just picked the boat up and will take my business where the appreciate the customer. read more

I had work done on my boat by Bayside. I initially had some questions about the reverse locking mechanism. A piece was missing and a bolt was on the trim tab. I took the boat back. The mechanic told me he changed a bolt on the steering yoke and that was the bolt I found on the trim tab. I took him at his word and brought my boat home. I took my boat out for the first time since Bayside did the work and found no steering to port. I stopped by today on my way home from work to discuss the matter with the service manager and he told me that they did nothing concerning the steering and that they were not responsible for any problems I was having. Funny that their own mechanic told me to my face that he indeed changed a bolt on the steering yoke! The manager again told me again they didn't want to see me and it wasn't their problem. TERRIBLE TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! As a respected member of the Coast Guard Auxilary, Flotilla #18, I will never recommend Bayside to any of my peers or associates! read more

Customer service is something else. Waited for 20 minutes with people walking around me and not even noticed I was there. Finally someone helped me and had a little work on my the outboard shifter and they couldn't even do that right. Didn't bother returning. I can do without that kind of service. These guys are great. I have been in and around some aspect of the marine industry my whole life. This last round I picked up a little whaler for my Dad and I to work on and then my Pops moved on to better grounds unexpectedly. The result, my project boat was just my project. I needed help on some engine and electrical and I worked with a guy for a min. in Seattle who was an unprofessional a-hole, actually horrible to deal with. Then another jerk from Seattle - shady, dishonest etc. Then I found these guys and they were actually polite, fun to work with, responsive and helpful. Not to mention they actually know what they are talking about. I don't make a practice of writing reviews, and I don't love that this one is on balance compared to the folks I would like to lambaste, however, its worth noting that Bayside stood out and I would prefer to focus on the positive. I didn't bring them a bunch of money/business and they still supported. Thank you, I will be back with my boats as they get bigger and bigger! read more

Looked at a used boat they had on consignment. I was told to contact the owner of Bayside which I did twice. He never contacted me. I made an offer that was pretty close to asking. Never was contacted. This occurred months ago and they still have the boat listed for sale. Poor customer service and that was from the owner. Oh well, bought a Cobalt instead and received amazing service from Seattle Boat Company. read more
