I knew I had to try the classic 50/50, and OMG... I went with mango, vanilla ice cream, and strawberry, and it was AMAZING! The fruit sorbet has REAL fruit in it, and you can absolutely taste the difference! It has the perfect balance of sweetness without being overwhelming. The vanilla ice cream is so smooth, rich, and creamy. When you put it all together, you get the PERFECT combination of fruity, refreshing, and creamy goodness! Hands down, this is one of the BEST desserts I've had! Every bite was delicious, and just talking about it makes me want to go back and get another one! Now, let's talk about the location because it's SUPER cute! I absolutely love that they have pictures of the original place. They've kept the look and feel so similar, if not the same, and it really feels like you're taking a little trip back in time! There's something so special about a place that holds on to its history and charm while still serving up delicious treats. It makes the whole experience even better! Don't be like me and wait all summer to try this place! If you're in the Sacramento area, Gunther's is a MUST-TRY! Now I understand why people are willing to stand in that long line. Between the delicious desserts and the nostalgic atmosphere, it's absolutely worth it!

Great for small groups and friends. Great to end a date night. Great for kids/child friendly. Plenty of outdoor seating with picnic tables and benches. Parking in the street as well as the adjacent side streets. The one drawback is there are a handful of homeless that are browsing the area, using the benches, and harassing the customers. It can be tough, especially with kids, to have to deal with homeless hygiene and interruptions/intrusion. Would be nice if they had police or security helping maintain the ambiance and surrounding area.

It has that fun, old school 80s diner film that makes you feel like you've stepped onto a movie set. The inside is a decent size, always clean, and has so much nostalgic charm. The employees are always super friendly and welcoming, which makes the experience even better. Now, let's get to the best part: THE DESSERT! This place is literally a cake lovers paradise. They have so many flavors, and everything is made in house. We're talking chocolate cake, red velvet, birthday cake, mint, white chocolate, Oreo, cake, coconut cream, pie, chocolate pie, strawberry cheesecake, and so much more. Seriously, there's something for every sweet tooth! They also offer sandwiches and drinks like coffee and hot chocolate, so you can grab something savory before treating yourself to dessert . Another great thing is that they have whole cake ready to go in the fridge, which is perfect for birthdays, parties, or any special occasion when you need a cake without placing an order ahead of time. I will say that it's a little on the pricey side, but honestly, I think it's worth it. Between the huge variety of desserts, the nostalgic atmosphere, and friendly service, it's a fun experience. This is also such a cute spot for date night if you want to do something different instead of the usual dinner and movie. After almost 15 years, I still have coming here! If you're someone who loves cake, has a sweet tooth, or just want to enjoy dessert in a fun, retro dining setting, add this place to your list. You won't be disappointed.

The cakes, pies, cookies, and other treats are absolutely beautiful, seriously, some of them look like something you'd see featured on the Food Network. The Black Forest cake was rich and decadent, the apple pie was classic comfort-food delicious, and the key lime cheesecake had that perfect balance of creamy, sweet, and tangy. With a display case like this, choosing just one might be the hardest part! Rex Tip: They also serve Gunther's Ice Cream, so take that slice of pie à la mode! Add a scoop on the side and turn dessert into a dino-sized treat. Come for the retro vibes, stay for the dessert case, and good luck leaving without taking something extra home! 5 ROARS from Focusaurus Rex!

But my friend convinced me to give it a try at The Parlor Ice Cream ad Puffs and WOW O WOW!! I ended up getting an unglazed donut with coffee ice cream made and it was incredible. They have a great selection of Gunther's ice cream so you really can't go wrong with a flavor. The warm donut paired perfectly with the cold, creamy ice cream, and the coffee flavor worked so well with it all together. Definitely something I'll save for an occasional treat, but it's also something I have already been thinking about often now. The staff was also super sweet and welcoming. I'll definitely be back!

The person serving us was really friendly and was great with my niece and nephew. The owner rung us up and was really friendly as well. I did not eat the ice cream, but the service and the way they looked makes me think it is decent ice cream. Great place overall and I may come back to try this if I go to Me's kitchen again.

For me, the line lives up to the hype. I can't think of a single ice cream parlor more creative than Salt and Straw. Some of the menu options sound absolutely absurd such as Melon + Prosciutto, Pear + Blue Cheese, and Strawberry Pretzel Salad. Despite the wackiness, they're doing something right with these flavors. I opted for their limited edition Strawberry Pretzel Salad. It has a salty crunch that brings out the sweetness of the strawberry ice cream. I also detected some cream cheese in there, which works really well! Can't wait to drop by again for their next lineup of limited edition flavors.

I love all of the flavors, but the rainbow sherbet and chocolate flavors are always a favorite. On our recent visit they had a fun blue pop rock flavor and a mango sorbet, along with a delicious caramel ice cream. You can't go wrong with any of them. Since they're closing soon they are running out of certain flavors, so stop by quickly and don't be afraid to buy an extra cup to put in the freezer. We ended up leaving with extra rainbow sherbet, caramel, cookie dough, and pop rocks to put in our freezer at home and we'll be stopping in at least one more time before they close.

There is a good variety of flavors including a dairy-free vanilla that might be some of the best vanilla frozen yogurt I've ever had. My husband is very lactose intolerant and typically yogurt shops only offer a sorbet as a dairy free option, so he can actually get a flavor he likes. There is also a really good assortment of toppings. There are cookies, candies like Reese's, fruit, nuts, and my favorites, which are mochi and jelly. The only con is the parking situation. We live in the area so we just walk, but we used to live a couple of blocks over and parking is pretty awful. This is a very busy area where a lot of families visit to go to restaurants, so not only is it hard to find parking, but the drivers are a little wild because they're unsure of where they're going. If you can, I recommend parking a few blocks away and walking over. Once you're there, the location is great! There are really great places to eat and drink and shop.
