Stay away from this company. We had very low pressure in our claw foot tub shower. They charged $269 to put in a rebuilt divertor valve and replace a shower head . The shower head was only a few months old so I don't know why they did that. (It was our rental and we weren't there when they did it) . They rebuilt the existing diverter by installing one rubber washer. The water pressure was still very low- the problem wasn't fixed! So we had them back to correct it 3 weeks later , at hopefully no charge. Nope. They charged us $75 and said we needed an entire new unit- that the piece that the diverter fit into or sat against was worn out. Estimate for the part was $700- something! Plus 3-4 hours labor at $100+ an hour. We bought the new assembly for $170 and it took all of 15 minutes MAYBE to do it ourselves- to shut the water off and 3 bolts. read more

We had AC trouble late Friday, of coarse it would be a Friday that it would happen, right? Their technician came out on a Friday rather late and thought he took care of the problem however, it still wasn't doing a good job cooling. So they had to come out again Saturday morning it appears there was a leak. The tech. was so nice about it as this was his day off so I felt awful but, he was a class act and didn't make me feel bad about it at all. First off, of the assorted plumbers whom we contacted only two others ever got back to us- and that was days later, one with a very brusque email. Secondly, on a Sunday, the nice lady on the phone told us that a tech would be by during a certain window that was only a couple of hours, and then Michael showed up on time. Michael was super nice, and confident, and checked with me every time he was about to do anything to my house and/ or wallet. I really appreciated being consulted, a lot of contractors don't bother keeping you posted until they present you with a gigantic bill. So, bottom line, Bears was efficient, communicative, honest, competent, friendly, and thorough. They have our plumbing business, though hopefully we won't have much. read more

We received excellent service for our broken air conditioner. From the moment I called, customer service was better then three other places I had tried. They were able to diagnose the problem, and change out a broken capacitor as soon as they could get a capacitor with my uncommon capacitance (he showed me the part, and what I needed). This place is different, in a good way. You only pay an appointment fee if you choose to not have them fix your thing, unlike many places that always charge a flat fee to show up. They will tell you what is wrong, and they will explain things to you. The prices seem to be better than other outfits I have experienced. Thanks very much! read more

Bears Family replaced our hot water heater last week and I couldn't be more happy. From the first time I contacted them, all the way through installation their communication was excellent. Dawn in the office is wonderful. Mike led the installation and I could hear him training his helper all through the process. Mike is very intense, very focused, very thorough. I really enjoyed working with him. His knowledge and confidence gave ME a lot of knowledge and confidence. They arrived when they said. They were quiet, clean, and friendly. Price-wise, I was looking for a very specific model so I paid more than your typical box store installation, but they did beat the lowest of my other two bids by almost $300. I have a couple of other projects in mind and will absolutely be calling them back. read more

Michael came in and fixed a broken pipe (that I had repaired just 6 months ago by a different plumber) identified the issue that caused it to break and the repair costs were well below the prior fix. We live in Estes Park, somewhat remote and often difficult to find dependable / competent repair services. We have used Everest to maintain and repair our plumbing and HVAC equipment for the past two years and we're totally satisfied. They have dependable service techs who live in the community and we couldn't be more pleased with their team. In mid January our heater went out, on a Friday afternoon, no less. David came out early Friday evening and got the heater working but it failed again late in the evening. He returned twice on Saturday, with dogged determination to get our heater back in dependable order. With James' help discovered an obscure part is the culprit and it's on order. In the meantime, our home is warm. No one's price is "cheap" in our town and "long after the cost is forgotten, the quality remains"! The owner, Michael, gave me two options for repair and came back that afternoon to install. He and his partner were here til almost 7PM on a Fri night to finish. I had no heat and it was November. Got in touch with this company. They came out and found out the problem and gave me a quote of what it would take to get the problem worked on, but it might not fix the problem. The cost was pretty high so opted to get a new heater. I was not a very good consumer, never asked many questions. So they installed a new furnace, it was a bit costly, compared to others. I did need heat so I accepted the cost. After they completed the install , I questioned them not replacing the thermostat. I called and inquired. So they did come back and get the thermostat installed. The heater works alright. read more

Of course the hot water heater went out when we had house guests, and on a Friday. And of course we wanted to replace it with a high efficiency on-demand water heater if possible (not a great time to do the research when you have one already broken!). We called two or three places, and were told they couldn't get to us till Monday, or that the cost would be $6,000-10,000 (for a water heater?!) The folks at Bears came out to give us an estimate for the on-demand water heater. They explained that the installation would involve moving pipes and putting an exhaust pipe through the wall - which wasn't financially or time-wise feasible for us. They provided an estimate for a high efficiency conventional hot water heater which was reasonable. They were having a crazy Friday with emergencies all over, but came out the next day on Saturday, and had it installed in an hour with all of the mess cleaned up. Our only complaint? That we had to turn the temperature down three times on the thing because it is so efficient and hot :D Thanks Bears! read more

The estimate that I received for a very small plumbing job from Bears Family was way above the actual cost of the work eventually done by another small plumbing company. The difference was so great that there was either a mistake in the Bears Family estimate, a misunderstanding of the work to be done (they estimated the cost after viewing the work site), the other company that did the work is losing money or I was simply given a high estimate. I emailed my concern to Bears Family (after the work was completed) and did not feel satisfied with their explanation. Bears Family Plumbing has a good reputation so I am willing to assume that there was some misunderstanding in our dealings. read more

Based on a recommendation from a co-worker, I had another company come out and replace my water heater. I had a very difficult experience with that company, and after a month and a half of trying to get them to do what I paid them for, I still didn't have hot water and heat for more than a few days at a time. When my hot water went out yet again, I decided to find another company to work with. Tim from Havens HVAC came out quickly and got me up and running, but it didn't last long. Since Tim was leaving town, he made sure I wouldn't be left without hot water and he got me in touch with Michael from Bears Family. Michael got out to my place quickly and took a look at the water heater. He decided that, because of how many times someone had been out to get it running again, he would have the manufacturer come to do a full diagnostic. Ed from KM Sales (Bradford White) came out the next day and immediately discovered that the original company had installed the wrong water heater and there was no way it would work with my set up. Michael quickly set up a time for Cameron & Justin to come out and replace the water heater. They worked quickly and I've had hot water and heat ever since. They also corrected all the installation issues from the original company. Michael contacted the original company and requested my money back for installing the wrong water heater without a license or permits and inspections, and he is now working to help me solve the matter. I can't say enough good things about Bears Family. They were so quick and efficient. Michael has been incredibly helpful. I would most definitely use Bears Family again, and I would wholeheartedly recommend them to others. read more

called to have someone snake a toilet in the basement that would not drain. tech came out and opened up the line. worked for one day. tech returned and was unable to diagnose the reason it did not take. he called one of the owners who responded with a camera system. he had trouble getting the pictures, but eventually came up with a diagnosis that the sewer pit was leaking into the surrounding area and was being picked up by the groundwater system. repair involved the removal of the pit and the surrounding concrete. an estimate of $8000!!! getting a second opinion, Sunshine plumbing, heating, & air found the problem to be an inop pump. a $1000 later we were good to go. calling Bears on the incorrect diagnosis, the agreed to refund the $230 diagnosis fee (let them keep the original charge for the snaking of the line) but it has been several months and i have not seen the check. i'm not holding my breath anymore. would highly recommend avoiding Bears Family and consider Sunshine instead. thanks for listening. read more
