One star is too generous. Do not make the mistake we did. If…read moreyou're reading the negative reviews and wondering whether they're exaggerated, they aren't. In our experience as current residents, they are factual and reflective of daily reality. A major ongoing issue has been excessive utility charges tied to HVAC problems. When those charges were questioned, maintenance did not seriously investigate the equipment. Instead, responsibility was shifted onto residents, with explanations that amounted to being told the problem was simply that we didn't know how to operate a basic thermostat. That response was dismissive, inaccurate, and insulting--especially given the persistent performance issues with the system. What stands out most is the pattern. Concerns are deflected, responsibility is avoided, and residents are left absorbing costs and stress for problems that appear to stem from management or maintenance failures. The consistent tone is not one of problem‑solving, but of wearing residents down until they stop pushing back. Based on what we have experienced, it is our opinion that this rental agency's business model prioritizes profit over people, particularly those who may not have the time, money, or legal resources to challenge questionable and potentially predatory practices. The imbalance of power is obvious, and it feels intentionally leveraged. Prospective renters: please take the negative reviews seriously. They are not emotional outbursts or isolated complaints--they align closely with what we wish we had understood before signing a lease. If transparency, accountability, and good‑faith treatment matter to you, learn from others' experiences and look elsewhere.

I just moved out and they stuffed me with a 400 dollar cleaning fee…read more I went through the trouble of cleaning the place to mitigate as much of the cleaning fee as possible but it didn't matter because all my efforts just went to waste as they still price gauged at the tiniest blemishes. Who even charges 400 plus for cleaning and touchups? There were no damages to furnitures or flooring, and yet Redpoint management people were dumb enough to hire cleaning crews that charges absurd amounts. The incompetency of this property is simply absurd, to deduce my cleaning efforts are worthless in order to price gauge as much out of the tenants as possible to take advantage of the fact we are moved out and cannot bother them anymore.

Fancy college livin', this is…read more For those who're fortunate enough to call First Street Towers their home, it's about as good as dorm living can get. And by good, I mean 'clean', 'quiet', and 'DAMN THAT SH*T'S EXPENSIVE'. We're talking major sticker shock here, folks--to the tune of $14K per academic year. This is in stark contrast to Cary Quad's $7K/year room & board. So is it worth it? Yes and no. The building is still shiny new and fits right in with Purdue's vision to appeal to a higher class of clientele. Each floor has two recreation areas with HDTVs and sofas, as well as a pair of clothes washers/dryers, a microwave and study table. Elevators are speedy and well-kept. Living here, you know you'll get the best facilities on campus (printers, lounge areas, etc)--the people are what will make (or break) your experience here. First off, the cleaning staff (each floor has its own) are very friendly and approachable. They're some of the nicest, most under-appreciated people at Purdue--so talk to them, even if it's just to say hi! The other faculty.....well not so much. Nancy at the front desk is, well, a 'not nice 4-letter word.' Usually irritable, occasionally condescending, really not the best person to greet first-time visitors. I fondly recall one time where I deftly swiped a dessert from across the street to snack on back in my room. Turns out, she reported me for theft of--wait for it--A PIECE OF PIE. Henceforth known as 'The Cherry Pie Incident', it got me into some seriously hot water with the residence manager, someone from HR, talk of potential police action......honestly it was a lot of unnecessary heat brought on by one person lacking a sense of humor. It was a major bummer. Aside from that, living here my sophomore year was one of my fondest memories of Purdue, and I met some fantastic people through living at First Street Towers. I loved the southern-looking view from my 5th floor room, even if the front desk people were problematic. This place is ideal for recipients of an academic scholarship or students whose families have deep pockets. Those on a tighter budget should only come here to use the FREE washers/dryers and give Nancy a hard time. Tell them 'Eric S' sent you. "Oh, you mean the cherry pie dude?" Yeah, that guy.

AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS!…read more If you're considering living at Verve Apartments, managed by Cardinal Group Management, let me save you the trouble: DON'T. My daughter's experience as a tenant there was nothing short of a nightmare due to Verve's negligence, discriminatory practices, and retaliatory actions. Here's what happened: Ignored Complaints About Unsafe Living Conditions: My daughter's roommate had her boyfriend effectively living in the apartment, violating the lease and making the living situation uncomfortable. Despite multiple complaints to Verve Management, they did absolutely nothing to address this issue. False Accusations Taken at Face Value: After a dispute over shared resources, her roommate filed a false police report claiming my daughter had poisoned her milk. The milk in question had been locked in a private refrigerator in my daughter's room for nearly a month before the alleged incident! Even after the District Attorney cleared my daughter of all charges, Verve continued to rely on the roommate's unverified claims. Retaliatory Eviction Threats: Verve issued an eviction notice based on the false allegations, without conducting a proper investigation or allowing my daughter to defend herself. They acted as judge, jury, and executioner, treating her as guilty until proven innocent. Financial and Emotional Damages: Verve's mishandling of the situation forced my daughter to vacate prematurely, leading to: - Storage fees for months of May, June, July, and part of August. - continued liability for lease payment through July despite vacating the first week of May due to Verve's unwillingness to mitigate continued threats from the old Roomate and threats of additional relations. - The stress and cost of moving twice due to their failure to create a safe living environment. Discriminatory Practices: While Verve was quick to act on false accusations against my daughter, they ignored repeated lease violations by her roommate and even relocated the roommate to another unit after the situation escalated. The new roommate also experienced similar issues and reported them, but Verve again took no meaningful action. Lack of Accountability: Verve only acknowledged their error months later, in February, after I spent a month providing evidence to prove my daughter's innocence. This ordeal wasted countless hours of my time and caused significant emotional distress for my daughter. Final Thoughts: Verve Apartments is poorly managed, unresponsive to tenant concerns, and quick to retaliate in unfair and discriminatory ways. If you value your time, money, and mental health, look elsewhere. There are plenty of other student housing options that won't treat their tenants like this. If you are a tenant who has experienced similar issues, the following remedies for relief can be pursued. If this applies to you, please send me a message--I am interested in pursuing a class action lawsuit. 1. West Lafayette Human Relations Commission 2. Tippecanoe County Human Relations Commission 3. Indiana Civil Rights Commission (ICRC) 4. HUD Indianapolis Field Office 5. Indiana Attorney General's Consumer Protection Division 6. U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) 7. Small Claims or Civil Court If you've been affected by discriminatory practices, retaliatory actions, or landlord negligence, please reach out. Together, we can take action.
