I've lived in river market, chauncey square, and fuse before living in hi vine for 1 year.
1. Management is rude, and I can confirm that the middle aged white lady just like the past reviews.
2. When touring the place, I initially asked if they had security cameras since leasing office do not accept packages, which is kinda weird since EVERY OTHER APARTMENT HERE ACCEPTS PACKAGES FOR YOU EVEN THE DORMS. (THE LEASING OFFICE LITERALLY DOES NOTHING).They said they didnt because packages were never stolen. And then while living here, I see posts on the first floor bulletin board about how someone's hellofresh was stolen and now they have no money to buy food and to please return it to "apt xxX) if you stole it and are reading this. Management did not care. They installed security cameras LAST MONTH(after who knows how many packages got lost) only after residents started trashing the hallways and elevator (the hallways, elevator, and the walls always had ghetto scratch marks and was filthy 24/7)-- so in short they only did it to save their own money and "catch" and charge who damages the hallways, and did not care for the safety.
3. There is no security. Anyone can enter the building. No fobs, nothing.
4. There are no amenties. No gym, no office, nothing. You only get your apartment. There is only ONE elevator(and there are alot of residents living here). There is also no trash chute. Fuse and Chauncey Square both have it.
5. They will charge you extremely high prices for "maintenance". My garbage disposal was clogged and the management told me they spent over an hour trying to get stuff out and charged me $150. Lol? They did not have to fix any equipment or purchase any new parts. I had a security camera in the apartment for my cats and i can confirm they did not spend over an hour. Also, when I lived in fuse and chauncey square and had the same issue, they BOTH charged me $0 for fixing it.
6. You pay for water, electricity, and your own internet. Water will be an average $25 a month(one time it was 40), and internet will be extra $50 a month, and electricity will be around $60 a month. Note-- their electricity sucks. You will be charged $90 for electricity for keeping it at 60 F even if no one is there in the winter. So really the prices are comparable to the luxury apartments here that both provide internet and water, not to mention AMENITIES and SECURITY and a MANAGEMENT that actually works. Also, you pay for normal wear and tear. It says in your lease that you will pay for the change in furnace filters, and they make you pay and replace it yourself in the middle of the year. It says something about how you are responsible for normal carpet wear-- so there is no such thing as "normal wear and tear". you will pay for everything when you move out.
7. I've lived in chauncey square, fuse, and river market. I had no problems living in any of these places. This is actually the first time I am leaving a review for an apartment agency.
8. This is alleged, but I heard from other residents that they go into your apartments without notice when you are not there. They just love to be nosy and just try to find every way to charge or overcharge their residents, and is not any better than granite. After living at Purdue for 4 years, my theory is that all the "local" apartment rental agencies are just not worth it.
9. If you already signed a lease here, MAKE SURE YOU CONFIRM THAT THE LEASING OFFICE RECEIVED YOUR MOVE IN CHECKLIST. I heard from other students here that when you move out, weida will say they never received their move in checklist and charge you for the damages that were already there when you entered the apartment. PS:(Chauncey square actually charged me $300 for damages that I put in my move in checklist, and after they checked they removed the $300 charges. But allegedly, weida will say they never received your move in checklist).
10. management works 9-4 M-F. lol. what a nice life they have. just check the management hours of every other agency here. They all work double weida's hours.
tldr: don't live here. read more
