We hired Events by Momo for our wedding of about 150 people around November 2013. We did extensive research on about 30 caterers before we settled on Momo. We wanted unique food for the wedding that had a bit of an Asian flare. Even though Momo is a bit on the pricey side ($35 and up per person) the best thing is you can customize the food you want and she can pretty much make it. We had plantains, stir fried mixed vegetables, pepper beef and light creamy curry (vegetarian and with chicken and shrimp). As the bride, I really didn't get to eat much of the food but we had a lot of compliments from our guests about having non-standard wedding food. I was disappointed that the curry ended up being way too spicy when I actually asked for the curry to be milder pre-wedding discussions. The beef was also a little overlooked but not bad considering the quantity of people you are serving. The caterer showed up on time and to the best of my knowledge cleaned up and served everyone with efficiency. I also enjoyed working with Moon (the owner) as she was professional and responsive to all my questions. This is very important when choosing caterers. My last bit of advice is to double check with Moon if you have any special requests on the food a few days before the wedding. read more

The biggest one was my wedding (175 people) that we initially hired Moon for catering, but fell in love with her so much we brought her on for event coordinating and day of coordination. This is the most amazing food I've had. I had Indian food, among other dishes served, but it's Momo's Indian food that I dream about at night. It was moist and cooked perfectly. We initially wanted to hire Moon as a caterer for our wedding, but when we met for our first tasting, it was obvious that she did so much more. She was so organized and seemed to understand our vision for the wedding, so we entrusted her with doing everything from the table settings to the linens to the lighting. And, of course, the food. We held the reception in a 1920s fire station, and Moon created styling that was totally beautiful and matched the prohibition/vintage theme. When I was clueless at our meetings, she was full of ideas and helped me to brainstorm. She was very cognizant of our budget, and she asked for approval any time she considered making a purchase that we hadn't talked about. Our ceremony was fairly traditional in a church, and she honored our wishes to keep it really simple. She had lots of creative ideas, and she helped us to achieve the semi-homemade wedding we had in mind. She even made the bouquets and other floral arrangements all by herself after the florist fell through, and they were gorgeous. Moon was great at coordinating with the other people involved in the wedding (band, baker, venue) and was always professional. I knew that if I asked her to communicate with someone else for me in the planning, she would be an excellent representative. Her staff was equally professional, and guests even commented on the friendliness of her bartenders and waitstaff. And finally, the FOOD. The food was just delicious. Moon does amazing food with south Asian flair (we had chicken tikka wraps), but she also does regular-old-American comfort food (we also had amazing macaroni and cheese "balls" that she invented). Our food was kind of an eclectic mix, and she was very effective at helping us decide what missing pieces we had and making sure we had enough to feed everyone. I would recommend Moon and Momo Catering to anyone. She made the wedding planning process incredibly easy for me, which is more than any bride can hope for. Poor Moon probably didn't realise what she got herself into as both my husband and I are based out of the Middle East. Moon both catered as well as planned our wedding. Moon organised absolutely everything from the invites, flowers, cakes, food, decor, gifts for our guests all the other vendors including transport company, hair and makeup for me and my bridesmaids and the Moms, the fantastic band, and photobooth company. Neither my husband nor I have the slightest imagination when it comes to these things and Moon did not let us down - the decor was amazing, every single detail was taken care of, and the food...! Oh boy, the food! I was a little wary initially about the food. I mean, how good can food made for 100 people taste? It turned out super delicious! I was sad I only managed to snag myself one serving (given that I was busy talking to everyone etc) :(. All this was done while communicating with us solely by email - due to the distance, I only managed to meet up with Moon once in the whole lead-up to the wedding! Her response time was super quick (Moon, do you ever sleep??). We would definitely recommend Moon to anyone who needs an event planner or a caterer. PS: Our friends had their wedding at the same venue with Events by Momo doing the planning and I have been told that there was nothing same-ish about our 2 weddings. After planning my wedding for 11 months and doing a lot of DIY stuff, I wasn't sure if it would be executed correctly without me there on the day of. Moon was my caterer so she suggested she take on the last leg of it all. SHE WAS FANTASTIC. Her food was exceptional--she mixed American flavors with South Asian ones for our fusion wedding so we had excellent prime rib and potatoes as well as samosas and butter chicken. We choose Events by Momo after doing some research and final tasting with Moon. My husband and I were so impressed with their tasting that we cancelled the rest of our tastings with other vendors! Their menu was catered to us, and definitely unique! We choose to do 3 apps, 2 entrees, 1 vegetarian option, and also dessert. I will say that the food presented at the time of our tasting did NOT match the food that was served at our wedding on August 29, 2015 - that was a bit disappointing, but it wasn't that big of a deal for me. Here's my review: 1. Food - we had Roast Beef, Crawfish Étouffée, and Vegetarian lasagna. My husband said that the crawfish étouffée was the best that he's ever had, and he's from NOLA. He definitely said that the quality of Crawfish wasn't as good at the wedding, but I guess when you're trying to serve 150 people, something has to give. I can't tell you about any of the rest because I didn't eat anything that night...BRIDES make sure that you force yourself to eat! 2. Service - very good. Moon and Claire were very accommodating and helped us a lot with the process. They were always very polite and prompt with their email replies, which is GREAT for an OCD bride. I did have some issues when I tried to take off the dessert portion of the meal 10 days before the wedding and was told that I would be charged a penalty for that, that was disappointing since I didn't see that in the contract. I decided to keep the dessert because of that. Some vegetarians complained that they didn't have enough food when I placed an order more than what was necessary for the amount of people, but Moon was able to take care of them at the reception - way to go! All in all, great experience! Top notch people, and a joy to work with. 1 star knocked off for the surprises on the food at the actual event, but other than that, I would use them in a heartbeat! read more

I had an untraditional (tricky) situation: no wedding ceremony or wedding party (just our 5 kids), an evening reception in Texas, a brunch reception in Pennsylvania about a month later, each event with their own feel/theme/ local and out-of-town guest lists- to say the least, I was in over my head from the get-go! I went with Momo catering for my husband's 40th birthday party because of the great reviews on yelp. However, I was very disappointed. Moon is professional and pleasant to work with but in the end, the services provided were far below my expectations. To begin, the party started at 6:30 and they didn't arrive til 6:40. This of course, made my party seem unfinished when guests arrived. The passed hors d'œuvre didn't greet my guests on a timely manner and were cold. I feel I overpaid for the amount and quality of food provided. Portions were small. Our agreement was to have a carving station for the prime rib but there was none. In addiiton to the regular service charge, I paid extra for servers for the passed hors d'œuvres and carving station. There was one less staff present than I paid for. The food quality and taste was average. I won't be hiring Momo catering for future special occasions. Update: they gave me a partial refund. I went to cash the check and they put a stop payment on the check. Now they won't respond to my emails. Not very professional at all. read more
