I strongly warn anyone considering Events & Adventures to read the contract very carefully and think twice before signing. I attempted to cancel my membership early, only to be told I was still responsible for thousands of dollars under a contract that offers no reasonable cancellation option, regardless of circumstances. Even after clearly communicating my intent to cancel, I was pushed into "settlement" offers that felt more like pressure tactics than customer service. The cancellation process is intentionally difficult, confusing, and one-sided. Instead of working with members in good faith, the company focuses on enforcing a rigid contract while ignoring legitimate concerns. Communication has been frustrating, slow, and dismissive. This experience has been stressful, costly, and completely avoidable. I regret signing up and would never recommend this company to anyone. I went to one event that had only couples (not singles) except for the event coordinator. Got there later than expected but still called and before the program started. Got a awkward vibe off the coordinator but brushed it off because it was Friday and it takes a minute to relax for some people. Still chatted with everyone while across from our host tried to make small tslk, her answers were curt at best but the program was awesome. After the show I went to thank her for the choice of venue and her effort just to have her literally turn her back to me as I went to shake her hand...... Got my money back and will never trust that type of company again. read more

This is a review for the Events & Adventures intake call-- I did not end up joining, so I can't speak to the member experience. As a single 35-year-old whose friends are all married with kids, I love the overall idea of Events & Adventures as a "singles club." They are careful to note they are not a dating service-- it seems like you'll get the most out of it if you go into it with an interest in joining a singles social club, and it will be an added perk if you happen to meet a romantic partner. Their calendar of events looked really fun and included tons of Seattle activities I wish I took advantage of. That said, some of their policies seems outdated, as many Yelp and BBB reviews attest to. I had a 1.5 hour intake call with Nicole which was overall a pleasant experience. Nicole let me know that there was special pricing I could take advantage of if I signed up by the end of the call. That's where the problem was, for me; I like to take a little time to make a financial decision and the more I feel pressured the less likely I am to sign up in the moment for fear of being taken advantage of. I asked if I could make a decision by 4pm that day (our call was at 11am) and she said unfortunately that would not be possible for both fairness and logistical reasons. Nicole was offended when I mentioned the pressure felt like sales tactics and instead said there are company policies around offering special pricing for those that sign up at the end of the call that she would not want to break out of fairness. In that case, I'll say that their company policies feel, on this side of the table, like aggressive sales tactics. That was a turnoff for me. I wish the company would update some of their policies and allow for (1) a 24-hour period after the call where you could still take advantage of the lower pricing, and (2) either a month-to-month or 3-month commitment option so you can try it out before making a longer commitment. Also, I was a little surprised to see that on top of the ~$200 monthly commitment, there was an additional $30 monthly charge for "club dues" (though the monthly dues are waived if you pay the full amount up front). Basically, be sure to read through the contract line-by-line, even if you sign up on the call, so you don't end up with any surprises. Again, I love the idea of Events & Adventures and I hope the company considers updating some of their policies to be more customer-centric. High pressure sales tactics. Keeps positioning itself as not a dating service but keep asking you what your dating life has been like. Interviewer said "I'm sure you're not even meeting 15 - 20 people." Disrespectful of people's time - scheduled a 1 hr interview at a certain time then asked if I was free 2 hours later for the 1 hr. They ask for so much information (age, martial status, ever been married, occupation, license (housing address) yet I had to push really hard to even get basic pricing information. They have enough information to basically steal your identity if they wanted to. In the beginning of the interview, the interviewer claim it's a two-way conversation but it's really a one-way conversation trying to neg you to get you to get their service. When Martha finally answered my question, I asked if this was written down somewhere. Their answer (to my complete disbelief) is no. They are trying to charge some exorbitant amount $150-$200/month for basic event planning. They ask "can you afford this?", "I want to see if you a good candidate for us" I've never seen a company try to "neg" people to feel bad about themselves and manipulate them to try to earn their approval by paying for their service. I didn't read the other Yelp reviews beforehand, but others seem like they are caught in a much worse situation - including sent to collections for a social club?!?!?! (Read Delena's review - it's horrifying). This is unreal. For anyone who has any self-respect, ignore their ads, and just put yourself out there. I had joined last year while going through a divorce so dating and meeting other singles was totally new to me. I only went to two events before moving. They made it EXTREMELY difficult to cancel, but I was successful in doing so (finally). And, I wasn't very impressed with the events. I met a few cool ladies, but let's just saw the type of folks in general were not a good fit for me, especially romantically. I would not recommend this simply due to the high pressure sales and difficulty canceling. SCAM - but 5* for many of my female friends who used this company for free "Events & Adventures". One of my very closest friends had a boyfriend and she would go one these trips all the time. She would also be able to invite several of her attractive friends (all of whom were in committed relationships) on these activities..so she could get away from the creapy guys. She would go on evening events from a Lake Union boat trip...to river rafting....to international trips. This is a total scam. High pressure, misrepresentation of their services, higher priced events than if you booked yourself. After attending 1 event, I decided it was not for me. I have requested a cancellation, after paying initiation fee, monthly fees and more. I am told there is only a 3 day period to cancel. how can you know after 1 event, plus most events are scheduled on my work days, if it is right? I have paid almost 1,000 in the 2 months and am being asked to pay the 2 year contract, which will be close to $4,000 rather than the 2,900 listed on the contract. This is not right! read more

You're going to have to go through a timeshare like presentation where they ask you all of the questions and they refuse to respond to the simple "how much is it and what does that include"? They are going to make you fill out a survey, so they can use your answers as part of the sales pitch. Don't spend too much thought on that. The "interview" will be the usual asking questions, trying to cling onto something relatable to establish personal credibility, using your goal of meeting new people to overcome objections like "$4k for one year and it doesn't event include the cost of most events?? If this is such an effective way to meet people, why is a year commitment the minimum cost? What is the value in that?" Answer "well, some things are free, like this hike, or this pot luck. We also get great group rates on these ticketed events!" Response "Groupon sells that for a lot less". If you look on the "reviews not recommended for yelp" at the bottom, I found those to be more accurate to my experience. Waste of an hour and a trip to Bellevue. I went to their in person interview. It was one of the most high pressure sales pitches I've been to. They make you invest time to fill out their survey before telling you the costs, they pretend that the events I pay for are equivalent to their free ones, and they'll pretend that you're going through some sort of vetting process to get into the "club" from their questionnaire. Giving me hot chocolate to make me feel that I have to reciprocate. They'll put financial pressure on you saying that you'll get their $150 a month rate for 12 months if you sign up now, versus $250 if you were to reapply, as if that somehow makes it more appealing. They're meetup.com at a price gouging rate. They heavily pushed themselves as a way to date new people, and remarked on how "attractive" I was to the "ladies". That made me very uncomfortable as no one has ever commented on my appearance except when they want me to buy something, so I knew they weren't genuine. I do not envy socializing with people who felt this was financially justifiable. Especially with the long contract length. I don't see how it costs 150 a month per person to send out emails. They also don't schedule for the months ahead for their events and they make you pay full price on top of what you've paid. I would strongly recommend avoiding them at all costs. read more

This company is a cash grab and I should have known upfront that this place was all about money and not about people. For a membership of 12 months and 6 *free*, the membership cost was $1,995.00. On average, that's $110.83 for 18 months and $166.25 for 12. That's just the start. Want to actually go to these events and cook 5 course meals, attend the theater, go skydiving, or travel internationally? GREAT. YOU GET THE HONOR AND PRIVILEGE OF BUYING THAT TOO!! I kept going to these events to get my money's worth but I should have bailed since I was only sinking more money into it. Here's a fun little story. My friend had her first epileptic seizure when she was with me and I was with her in the emergency room the night of an event. I explained my situation and asked for a refund, but harrumph, I was past the date. I understand that people are flaky, and cancel, and you have to have a strict policy to cover events but to be so heartless for an emergency? Congrats, you're officially the scum of the earth. So if anyone close to you, God forbid, has a heart attack, don't expect any sympathy from these people. They only want your money. It's clear based on the business model. Contract? Really? Say your life changes, or you move to a city E&A isn't in or you meet someone special outside it? Tough. Most events are pay your own way, slightly discounted (5% is gold to their ears), or laughably free. Yes, thank you, I know parks are free and First Thursdays are free. Also, the events on the calendar have to be diverse enough in terms of activity as well as location to cater to a large area. So consider that events may not fit in your budget, neighborhood or schedule. Holidays, they really got in the boat train, so New Years BOAT! St. Patrick's Day, BOAT! Do you like boats CUZ BOAT. Also, remember that you pay for that too ;) People in the group are very different, in terms of everything. Age, social skills, mental acuity. You never know what you're going to get since they keep all event lists blind. Most events were small to medium approximately 8-20 people. As another Yelper stated, they have an unholy website, no app, and don't give a flying f. Like Amanda R, I did meet some nice friends but you can meet amazing people other ways too. Meetups, underdog sports, clubs, classes. Do yourself a favor and don't trap yourself like we did. I joined February 2021 after the pandemic kicked me in the face when I found out my fiancé, who I had been with for 5 years and thought I was going to spend my life, was cheating on me with a married woman. It was a huge slap in the face after slaving day in and day out through the pandemic as a public servant who didn't get the luxury of staying home. I felt completely useless and undeserving. I forgot what it meant to love myself and enjoy life independently. E&A has changed my life and provided me with opportunities that I wouldn't have otherwise even thought of doing on my own. E&A has helped me regain the confidence I needed to enjoy being single and the confidence to feel like I was enough again. I join thinking this type of thing would be helpful to make new friends as I just moved from different State to Seattle and always hearing its hard to make friends in Seattle, the Seattle Freeze and all that jazz. The sales pitch and all that sounded good enough, I fell for it but giving you 3 days and not yet going to an actual event to cancel is just ridiculous (I was not told this during the interview, I had to read it after my ordeal). How would you know if you feel comfortable or safe among the group of people they supposedly screen. I read some of the bad reviews before hand and maybe its all perspective and what you take of it. I thought this sort of thing would have things coordinated, there was a filtering system of the quality of people and with the membership helps put into the events. Money is money everything has a price but I was told the membership for putting for events together. The "free" events which are party games at a person house or walk at a free park, yea those are generally free anyways? Thinking they put in a pot or offer deep group discounts nah they say that you still pay full price for those events and pay for your own food on top of membership dues. Even the vacation group trips. The one that caught my eye was the Japan trip for everything they put together and not include....i can get my own package deal for half the price for longer time and more things. No Thank you! I made it to one meeting and it was overwhelm how many people they try to fit in a small living room/dining room of someone's home. The games they had playing seem very inappropriate for people you were just meeting for the first time as this was a "new members event." Very sexual theme games and another game made a joke of pedophilia. It just had me very uncomfortable and just was going along for the time being, finally just under 2hrs in was too much that I left. I didn't know I sign up for a swingers party. The age range and ratio from ages and gender was drastic. (There was vibe was not feeling from some of the people sorta creep kind. ) I'm sure the host saw how uncomfortable I was, me trying to B line to the door. I sent an email out explain the situation to the host and the person that sign me up that I don't want anything to do with the group anymore and just wish to cancel leave peacefully. How I wasn't comfortable to be with a group that's open and causally laughing about that sort things. I don't know being a single mom maybe I don't take pedophilia funny? Maybe I'm too sensitive whatever the reason is my own that I just did not feel I was a good fit to continue on with this sort of thing. They were like try another event, no thank you just cancel and told me to get contact with the host. (I was not aware of the cancellation rules due to my optimistic thoughts this would all work out.) It was silence after the email exchanges. Than I had to following up with calling someone in accounting. Who said they needed to follow up with a manager. Nothing for two two weeks until I called again. Now was saying I cannot cancel because i have signed a contract. They don't care for your experience or issues you have had happen. They just want your money. Ah they're that kind of company...I here I thought they were about people and helping people make friends and find love. Silly me! They offer to reduce pricing but I still want no association with this group or will use any of the services. I had left the facebook groups and what not. (I do regret not giving a piece of mind on the fb group before leaving) So now paying for something I will not be using is just expensive bad decision a big waste of money now, like a overprice gym membership basically what this becomes. Whatever happens after I just not going to care anymore. TLDR - Save your money, you have 3days to think over to cancel, you do not even get to go try an event to see if you vibe with the people. When I initially signed up for E&A I was at a point in my life where I was ready to invest in myself. After trying online dating I quickly realized that I wanted to thin the pool to people equally willing to make an investment. What I thought I was getting was not what I got. The events are always full and you need to coordinate with people to get in most of the time. All of the events were 1.5 to 2 hours one way to get to and then on top of your $81 monthly fee, you're paying for whatever you consume or do at each event. Lastly, when my debit card stopped working I was contacted by E&A, apologized, and provided a new number. They never followed through and charged that number, instead sent me to collections for $1200. I called them, as I have since moved to North Carolina, and they told me I couldn't cancel my membership because it was already in collections. Don't waste your money. This is not WORTH YOUR TIME. Also to be clear, I never received any notice from the date I emailed them with the new card information to the account going to collections so I was never given the opportunity to rectify the situation before it impacted by credit score. Once you are in E&A you can only get out after you're married. They do not consider relationships. I was a member for over a year and attended only 1 or 2 events because it was such a commute and so difficult to get in them. read more

Waste of money. Don't take my word for it. Go read the BBB reviews. You can't get any information until you show up in person at their office. They say this is to interview you. BS. This is a captive audience sales tactic. They don't tell you anything about the costs unless you agree to take it or leave on the spot. And they tell you if you leave it you can't come back later and change your mind. If you have a good product/service at a fair price you don't need to threaten people to buy it. They tell you that you can cancel your membership any time. Note those carefully chosen words do not mean cancel your contract. If you are going to question them about cancelling, do not assume "cancel" means "and stop paying". Ask them specifically about refunds. They are very careful not to say you'll get your money back because you won't. You have 3 days from the signing of the contract, then you are stuck unless you 1) die, 2) move more than 100 miles from ANY E&A office, or 3) get married. These are the ONLY ways out of your contract. Notice that if you get in a relationship YOU CANNOT GET OUT OF YOUR CONTRACT. Only if you get MARRIED. You can freeze your contract for up some number of months which varies depending on the length of the contract, but you cannot get out of it. You're paying. You have 24 hours from signing to cancel and get your money back. You have 3 business days from signing to cancel and get your money back less $400 for the trouble they went to interviewing and processing you. Beyond that you aren't getting your money back. Oh and read that contract clause very carefully because NONE OF THAT APPLIES once you've attended an event. No refund period. Don't be surprised if you are encouraged to attend an event ASAP. That night if possible. Their entire business model is: hard sell bordering on deceptive sales tactics to get you to sign that contract, sweat it out for 3 days, then praise the Lord they have a legally binding contract entitling them to your money! Like all contract situations, what the salesperson promises you means nothing as far as getting out of your contract. The contract rules all. Do the events not live up to your expectations? Too bad, you're paying. Were you told you'd meet plenty of people in your age group but in reality they aren't there? Too bad, you're paying. Did you believe your memberships fees would translate into significant events discounts but found out you're paying 90-95% for events anyway? Too bad, you're paying. Are the majority of events turning out to be geographically inconvenient? Too bad, you're paying. Are you sick of all the interesting events being in freaking Canada? Too bad, you're paying. I joined events and adventures when I was living in Chicago. I wanted to get out and do more things than just sit at home and watch TV. I wanted to meet more people and hang out with people my age. I still keep in touch with friends I met with E&A Chicago! When I moved to Seattle, I quickly got involved with the Seattle club and i saw it as a great way to get to know the city and again, meet people. They have a variety of events and no matter what your interests are, you can always find something to do. And while E&A isn't a dating service, I went to a salsa dancing event, which I love to do, and ended up meeting another member who became the love of my life!! I'm a new member to E&A, but I've generally had a great time so far. I've read a lot of reviews about E&A being expensive, and frankly, it is (but I was also expecting this ahead of time). There was a little bit of a sales tactic to join, but again, expected. The administration side of the business being for-profit shows, but to me, it's more about what you get out of it. There are tons of events, some big, some small. I can't attend as much as I would like, but I still get to enjoy the events on weekends. Again, you get out what you put in. Some events are just free meetups at a bar, you pay for your drinks, that's to be expected. The large events are additional cost, which I admit get to be expensive, and do wish more was included (IE alcohol on a booze cruise). There's a rather eclectic variety of people in the group; this is true everywhere you go, and there's exposure to people in the group that I believe you otherwise wouldn't necessarily meet (you're getting out of your comfort zone after all). The great thing is that everyone is very welcoming. This isn't like online dating or trying to meet someone at the bar, where the Seattle Freeze is real. Getting out is expensive, period. I joined E&A to try new things and be social. The business is a business, and they're event planners first and foremost. I've had the opportunity to try things and meet people I otherwise wouldn't. If I had more free time (a luxury to me lately), I could save myself money and plan more for myself. TL;DR - you get what you put in, it's not for everybody, make your own choices for yourself and nobody else. read more

Thanks to this club, I met and fell in love with the sweetest, most wonderful, amazing, smart, funny and kind person in the world! I would highly recommend joining Events and Adventures to anyone that is single and looking to met that special someone or for anyone that just wants to make friends and have a good time. I've made lots of new friends, experienced tons of new things for the first time, had loads of fun, enjoyed many events, experienced many adventures and I met the girl of my dreams. I've been in Events and Adventures for almost a year. My girlfriend and I continue to go out together on our own but we also still do a lot of events with the club. My favorite events that I've been to so far include: skydiving, zip lining, camping, beach bonfires, symphonies, plays, dancing, trivia nights, game nights, karaoke, mini-golf, comedy shows, ninja escape room, wine tasting, kayaking and white water rafting. My girlfriend and I are planning on going to a big Halloween party, a few free movie screenings, bowling, a comedy show, flag football, a food drive and ice skating with the club over the coming month. I've seen tons of friendships and partnerships form in the club. I've seen lonely people make friends, shy people become more outgoing, reserved people go wild, close relationships form and much more. Just remember, you get out of it what you put into it. I advise anyone who is interested in joining to go out and participate in as much as you can! Get out there and have a good time. I'm still bit of newbie, I joined in October 2017 with E&A, but so far, it has been great. (That's why my rating is four stars instead of five.) There is vast choice of activities to choose from. There is literally an activity to do everyday of the week and some weekends has two events to choose from, per day. I personally like to mix it from doing E&A's smaller events to such as ceramic paintings to their bigger events such as the Halloween party this past October. What has made my experience enjoyable so far are the hosts, who are welcoming and help takes the awkwardness out of being the new person at in event/activity. Also the people I am meeting, we all seem to be on the same page: to be more socially active and we want to meet new people. No longer am I the lone wolf. I heard about this on the radio and thought i'd give it a try. I filled out the info on the site and received a call pretty quickly. I went in and filled out a questionnare that is basically a personality test. I went in to hear the pitch and it actually makes a lot of sense. They have a lot going on during any given month and if you go out a lot it is something that would probably be cheaper in the long run to do it their way. It is very pricey though and they have three plans to choose from. If I remember the first is a year membership and it costs $1200 up front plus monthly dues, $30 a month I think. The second is a three year membership and it is $2500 and monthly dues of $30 a month. The third is a lifetime membership or "platinum" and it is $4000 but no dues and you can attend every event they offer for the rest of your life. Their logic makes sense, if you go out a lot it is probably cheaper in the long run to do something like this. I can't fault the salesperson for trying to get me to go for the platinum package but it is a lot of money and based on the research I've done, and the testimonials I've read, they exaggerate the number of people that belong to this so beware. read more

This is as a warning to people looking to sign up through E&A Seattle: It's expensive. They ask you to pay $1200 up front, and if you don't have that, they charge you an extra $30/month, for a total of $130/month and that's just base. Most of the events are around $50 (+/- $10). If you go to the event website to compare prices, the actual venue usually charges less money than going through E&A. So, Events and Adventures and adventures charges you almost $200/month if you want to just go to 2-3 events, and it's costing you more than if you had just signed up on your own. I tried to get some information on where the extra money goes, but of course, they couldn't tell me. Not to mention if you try to get out of the contract after the first three days after signing up, they charge you $300-$400. If you wanted to sign up for something fun where you could meet people, learn from my expensive mistake: there are better options. read more

I am still shaking from my horrible experience with Events and Adventures in Bellevue. I completely felt pressured to join and luckily I went with my gut and didn't fall into their money trap. I had no idea going in how much money it was to join, which should've been my first sign that they don't post any of that information on their site. I was bombarded with personal financial questions and had the main manager (Nicole, I believe?) try to convince me to "just put it on a credit card" and told me "that I make more money than most in a year" after she fired question after question to me. I respectfully told her and the other recruiter, Nicos, that I didn't feel financially comfortable with this decision and wanted to go home and think about it. They kept telling me that this "deal" of "$1000" off the steep $2995 fee to join wouldn't be there unless I signed up on the spot. The whole thing made me feel extremely uncomfortable and I'm so happy I listened to myself telling me that this seemed sketchy. I actually had to tell the manager when she asked me what financial things have come up this year that it was none of her business. After she left, Nicos apologized but then sketchily offered to re-meet with me when she wasn't there on a different day if I decided to come back to sign up and still give me the deal by tricking the system and putting my middle name into it instead of just my first and last name to think that I was a different person. That is how desperate they are to have people sign up. My advice to you is to avoid this place all together and if you do somehow miss all these terrible reviews you see on their Yelp page, I hope that you listen to yourself and don't give into their scare tactics and financial promises that you make enough money to join. The whole thing that's even crazier to me is that you pay all this money to join without have even tried to go to an event with them to see if it's a good fit. The way this whole thing is set up is completely ridiculous. I called and let corporate know of the terrible 2 hours I wasted at the Bellevue office, but who knows if that will ever reach their office or anything will be done about it. Events and Adventure, is it really worth it? Price: * If you're reading reviews right now, and you still haven't figured out that E&A is freaking expensive, then there's something wrong. They sign you into a contract for payments, which means by the time that you've figured out whether you want to keep going or not, you'll be locked in so that you have to pay no matter what. The way it was explained to me when I joined was that the dues are there so that they can put money toward events so that you don't have to pay full price. Like a trip to disney land might cost you $400, but with them it would barely cost $250, and something as cheap as a $5 entrance fee would be waved and you would be able to get in for free. Looks like I was lied to because I finally did my research one day out of curiosity, and found out I was still paying full price for my events, and sometimes I even had to pay more (I was livid when I realized this). The only discounts we ever received were things that places normally give like group discount. Events: *** The events they have are actually pretty decent, but the problem is that sometimes the best events are too far, but that's not really E&A's fault. They do their best to keep fun events going, and making sure the calendar is full of something fun, though admittedly sometimes there are a lot of not so interesting events. They do a pretty decent job of having plenty of alternative "Free" events as well, but sometimes even those require a $5-20 commitment fee. The reason why events gets a 3 star instead of a 4 is largely because they have hosts who plan the events, and the hosts are all members. So you have members who are paying to not plan events who are...planning events? (Does that make sense to you?) People/Members: **** The other members were nice, and real easy to get along with. For those who are turned off by the interview, it's specifically to weed out obvious creeps, people with issues, and douchbags. That being said, the unfortunate thing (especially being a 26 year old) is that the average age in the club is around 40. My entire year here I've only met a handful of women my age, majority of them I only ever saw at trampoline dodgeball so it was difficult to get to know them. Overall: ** The price is such a huge negative that it trumps a lot of the good that the people bring in, especially when you still have to pay full price for events. Over the past year there are a lot of events that I'm glad I went to because I wouldn't have otherwise, but unless you make loads of money, and are willing to chill with 30-60 year olds, and are up for a minimum 1 year commitment, then I would highly recommend going somewhere else. read more

Do you want to hang out with a bunch of couples and old people? If yes join E&A. When I joined I was excited to meet singles my age and participate in cool activities. My experience was a very cliquish group of people. Many of them them are dating each other and it feels a lot like high school. The only friendly people I experienced were the older people. If I wanted to hang out with couples and old people I would hang out with my friends who were in relationships and my parents. Clearly I am looking for single people my age which is exactly what E&A advertises but not what you experience. The membership fees are VERY expensive and expect high pressure sales techniques when you go in for your interview. They are open with the costs - you have to pay membership fees, monthly dues and then for almost every activity. I paid the absolute minimum upfront and I paid $100 per month. This excludes the costs of all non free activities. You can't cancel either but once again you learn this when you sign up during your interview. E&A turned over payment collection to a company called Universal Account Servicing the end of 2013. E&A has yet to update their website to reflect the fact they Universal Account Servicing is now handling payments. Universal Account Servicing is the most horrid company I have ever had to deal with. I had to call them 7 times before they finally sent me a bill in the mail. I ended up just paying off the balance that I owed so I could stop interacting with them. I relayed my experiences to E&A twice and they said someone would call me back - I have received zero calls back. read more

I joined E&A (as they like to call it) at the end of November 2014 thinking that it would be a fun way to get out and do things with the bonus of meeting other singles in the area. It's true that they are very pushy sales people and it is A LOT of money. If I could go back in time, I never would have joined. I asked if I could go home and sleep on it and was told that this 'great deal' would not be here tomorrow. BIG MISTAKE on my part for being spontaneous. NO Refunds if you change your mind...even if it's the next day. Most of the events cost extra money on top of the thousands you just spent to "join the club". The average cost for an event is around $30.00. One of my first events was a movie at the Imax science center which cost me $29.00. I didn't meet anyone. I went into a theater and watched a movie! I could do that for a lot less money on my own or with friends. One event I went to I felt like I was hanging out with 10 of my parents friends. Seriously. All VERY nice people, don't get me wrong. But if I wanted to hang out with my parents and their friends then I would do that. I was hoping to meet people my age with my same interests. I've seen 3 months worth of calendar events at this point and I have to say that I'm just not impressed with the options or the cost! If I have any advice at all...join online meet up groups that share your interests. It's the same exact thing but without the insane 'membership fee" that will put you out thousands of $$. read more

Over all I would say that E@A is a fantastic club! It can just be a bit rough on your budget. I had a job change and since that happened it has been difficult to go to a lot of the events that I am interested in. Great people though and super fun events! read more

I have to say that E&A has a great sales pitch and great salesman/saleswomen. But thats where they get you. If I could go back in time and not sign up I would. I moved from Hawaii to Seattle as a single father of a 2 yr old living in Federal way. I was looking for something that would help me get out and meet others and that's what I did. So let me ask you this....if you meet someone you really like either from E&A or somewhere else...shoudn't you be able to cancel? E&A is where SINGLES can get together and have fun. I am no longer single now, I have a gf I have no choice but to keep paying...I'm stuck paying them. Every contract says you have 3 days to cancel with a written certified document stating you need to cancel. PLEASE SAVE YOUR MONEY AND DONT DO BUSINESS WITH EVENTS AND ADVENTURE. This group is one of the biggest scams I have ever seen. First you apply, then you must "interview" with the company. After your long winded interview they "INVITE YOU" into their private club. The club's dues are close to 4k annually, then $40 a month, plus you have to pay for most events and drinks. So I do not know where the dues even go. They will then give you an incentive on how they can break you a deal for $3k down and 4 free months.... You cannot meet any member before you pay, you cannot see any of the events to see if you like the group, and you cannot cancel early if you find out you are not a fit in the club. Personally to me that means SCAM. As an old sorority girl, I understand paying for social groups, but you at least meet the sisters, and you have a pledge period where you can cancel at any time! When I explained that although, I make good money, I do horse rescue where most of my money goes to, the employee told me that my priorities just where not straight enough for me to meet new people. I apologize for donating my life and money to charity... but if members would rather drink at happy hour than do a good deed, that is not the spot for me! BE CAUTIOUS! There are high pressure sales techniques if you do not know what you are looking for. They will pry on your failed relationships, pitfalls, and financial growth if you let them. I should have known based on the fact that they are not up front about their membership fees from the start. I figured it would maybe be a monthly fee plus the individual fees for events. I did not expect the overhead of $3000 plus the aforementioned costs (for the minimum package deal). When I said it was way too much for me, I was given "the deal," which was $1000 off and an extra 6 months. The catch? I had to sign up then and there. I made it clear that I wasn't willing to make a decision about spending that kind of money on the spot, and I needed some time to think things over, look at my finances etc, and that was when the fun began. My interviewer began turning all of my words back on me, saying I obviously wasn't as committed to taking a different avenue to meeting people as I said I was, that it only came down to $29/week and if I couldn't invest that amount, then I wasn't serious about my future and meeting a partner, and that if I wasn't willing to jump right in immediately then maybe I wasn't right for this club. This went on for about 20 minutes, with her getting visibly more angry each time I put my foot down and said no. When I finally got up to leave, she shoved her hand at me to shake and stared me down angrily. I understand that it's a for-profit business, and the pricing structure is what it is. Some people may be fine with paying that, but it's just not for me. I'm mostly upset with the manner in which the sales pitch was handled. First of all, what ever happened to being upfront about what something costs? Even a car has a sticker price that you can look at before you ever have to talk to a sales person. But I get it, that's how they sucker a lot of people in who aren't able to stand firm (and I'll hand it to the girl, she had some great arguments - I might have been suckered in myself, but I literally could not afford it responsibly). But if I say no, then let it go. Tell me you hope to see me in the future if I change my mind. Be nice, so that I'll want to come back. Don't get angry and chide me like I'm a child. Don't tell me how to readjust my finances so that it would be affordable. Don't tell me it isn't a lot of money when you break it down. Don't question my commitment. And let me go after the first no. Hell, let me go after the 10th no. Because I may have gone home and thought about it and done some adjusting of my budget after deciding that yes, I want to go for it. I loved going to events with 100's of my closest friends, most who I'd never met before but we all had the same things in common....we were single and we liked to go out and do fun stuff with other people who actually wanted to do the same things we did. No more dragging your latest date to wherever they didn't want to be. The best part is there are tons of classes or events to choose from and the ones I liked best were usually free or of very low cost. Now, granted, you pay for the privilege of hanging with all the beautiful people but that does help weed out the unemployed although the losers can still sneak through if they have the cash. read more

It has been an awesome experience so far. I have met lots of great people that are fun and interesting and just when I get out and do things. Everybody is been more than helpful and always friendly.
