Liana is a one-of-a kind practitioner. I've been seeing her for almost 2 years now, and finding her has been a life-changer. My health declined 2.5 years ago after taking a potent antibiotic that caused adverse reactions. I developed muscle and joint pain, along with a slew of other health issues, in which conventional doctors provided no solutions or relief. Helpless and hopeless, I searched for alternative practitioners online, and found Liana. And she took my insurance, which was a bonus! My initial consultation and first treatment lasted about 1.5 hours, and it was the most thorough appointment I ever had. She explained acupuncture and TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine), which can be quite complex, in a way that made sense. I got amazing care and help from Liana Brooks-Rubin at EvenTide. After a lifetime of running an old injury to my Achilles tendon had gotten the better of me. The tendon was so damaged that I could not run any longer. After surgery to remove the damaged tissue I was supposed to have a 12 week recovery. 18 months later and after seeing two doctors, getting cortisone shots and seeing a different acupuncturist I still could not run pain-free, had significant swelling and scar tissue and would suffer frequent cramping and tightness in my calf above the damaged Achilles. I heard from someone that Liana had helped him with his calf issues and I went to her as a last ditch effort but I was almost completely out of hope that I would ever have a full recovery. Liana fixed me! She is a master acupuncturist. She said that my body could heal itself and it did with her help (not cortisosne!). After about six weeks of treatment with her I had a vast improvement. A few months later I was able to run pain-free and have been doing so ever since (three years now!). I love Liana Brooks-Rubin because she is professional, very good at her craft, and is a super nice person. I've been seeing Liana for a year now. I actually found her through Yelp! I had never tried acupuncture before and I was having some pretty serious pains in my back and neck. I also suffer from migraines and dizziness from the migraines. I am a full-time graduate student and so I sit for long hours writing and my posture is not great because of this. It gets to the point sometimes where I can't move my shoulders coupled with severe sharp pains in my upper back. From the minute I met Liana, I knew I liked her. She listens closely to how you describe your pain and asks questions to assure that she is providing the appropriate treatment. I experience immediate relief from the sessions. I have been a patient of Liana's for two years -- even now that I have moved out of the DC area, I continue to make trips back for treatment. The thing you need to understand is that Liana is the best of the best. She is extremely talented and knowledgeable about not just acupuncture, but traditional Chinese medicine, herbs, and holistic wellness. But beyond that, she is THE most kind and compassionate person I have ever met, hands down. She has essentially become my therapist. I came to her originally for hamstring tightness (they were so tight they would pop with every step) and I will never forget the feeling of relief when I got off the table. It only lasted about a day but now that I've had regular treatment, we only need to revisit them every month or so. Liana Brooks-Rubin is an absolutely fantastic acupuncturist. She took me from never sitting down for a year and half because of a broken back to very rapid recovery of functionality and ability to exercise and get strong. I had relief on the very first visit and was able to sit within the first month. Now, I see her once a month--which I will do for life. She has provided me with a pain-free life....something I thought was lost forever. BTW, After seeing her for the last year and a half, I just was awarded my health club's recognition as the most improved member, returning from painful disability to high functioning fitness. Being on blood thinners I had no way to control the severe pain in my arthritic knees and I did not want to get off the blood thinners to have replacement surgery. All anti-inflammatory medicines - including homeopathic ones were off-limits to me. Acupuncture was my last ditch effort to see if anything would work. Within 3 months, my pain went from severe to slight. Within the year, my pain level went from severe to "what pain?". I continue to go for other treatments like back pain and a torn rotator cuff and because going to Liana is my treat to my health and my well being. My sessions with Liana are my weekly "vacation". I can just tune out and let the needles do their magic. I've never been to another acupuncturist but cannot imagine anyone better than Liana. I cannot recommend her enough! read more
