My wife had a very long day, a Saturday, getting up at 3 am at our home in Boise, ID, flying to…read moreDenver to purchase a car, then driving it back to our home. I asked AI what a good halfway point would be for us to bed down for the night, and Evanston, WY, was recommended. On our drive up, I researched the hotels in Evanston and settled on the Holiday Inn Express, based on the reviews. I was able to get a room with two queen beds at a very reasonable rate. We rolled into Evanston about 9:30 pm. Parking is free and there is plenty of it. Weston was at the front desk, a very friendly gentleman who had been working hard but was still personable and attentive. He very graciously, and without asking, put us on the third floor away from I-80. There are a few restaurants within walking distance, and the one we patronized, The Lincoln Highway Tavern, I recommend. Our room was clean, a must for my wife, spacious, and very nice. The beds were reasonably comfortable (I never sleep well away from home), and the room had the usual amenities, including a mini fridge, microwave, and hairdryer. The bathroom shower was a standard size, the water was hot and the pressure was adequate, and the bathroom fan worked well. It was very quiet; no complaints of noise. We did partake of the complimentary breakfast, which was open at 6:30 on Sunday, earlier than I'm used to, but very much appreciated since we wanted to get on the road quickly. The coffee was decent, the OJ yummy, and the scrambled eggs and biscuits were OK. The bacon was crispy but lukewarm, and the sausage, like so many hotels, appeared to be steamed instead of grilled, and was cold. The Hispanic woman attending the breakfast area was very nice. The female desk clerk checking us out was also pleasant. In the future, on trips to visit our son and his wife in Ft. Collins, we would definitely stay here again. It's a gem.

I was not expecting much from a HI Express, but given the nightly rate: I sure did expect more than…read moreI got. There are not many options in the area, so I guess they get away with charging a premium rate, but at least try to deliver premium service. Not much going on around the property and no sitting area around the property to enjoy an evening. Last time in the area, I just chose to stay in Park City, pay less to stay in a Sheraton and make the drive to WY.

This was my first time at the Cinebites event and overall, it was ok. I think the experience could…read morehave been better and I'll outline why. When bought the tickets, there was no indication as to what was on the menu. One of the people in my group has a nut and shellfish allergy, but there was no where on the ticket purchase screen to note this. Normally, reservations would have this option to make sure they can prepare ahead of time. I took a chance and hoped they would ask this when we arrived. We came as a party of four to the Lady and the Tramp movie and the event was listed from 6:30-9:00 but doesn't mention when the doors would open. We arrived at 6:15 thinking that we could sit down and use the facilities before the movie started, but the doors were locked and there was no sign. Several other customers did the same and I assume they were under the same impression. Would have been helpful in the email communication to let customers know when the doors open so they aren't arriving too early and having to wait. When we sat down, the hostess let us know it was open seating and to not leave too many gaps, which is fine, but their setup was not exactly couple friendly. Each table could seat 3 people and since we were a group of 4, the 4th person had to sit in the next table, which felt a little disconnected. One small popcorn bag was placed for every 3 people, so if you had a 4th person in the group, they would have either shared with the group they came with or with a stranger. The menu was on each table, there were no ingredients or allergy mentions. The menu looked standard and the dishes listed don't typically have any shellfish or nuts. There were no announcements made when everyone arrived and no one to greet us other than the hostess at the front. We waited for a while and then at 6:52, the movie started. One the movie started playing, we noticed immediately that the speakers on the left side of the room weren't working. It was hard to hear the movie the rest of the night and I'm not sure if this was just a technical issue that day. When the food started arriving, we had one dish that had almonds and we had to ask the server to send it back because of the allergy. I asked if there were any more items on the list with shellfish or nuts, but they seemed confused at the ask and didn't know. This could potentially cause severe reactions and the Cinebites teams should take this in consideration. Luckily the salad was remade and no issues came up. When the movie was done, the staff came out with a microphone to thank everyone for coming and then had a parade of the staff. It was cool to see those that worked there to make things happen that evening. Now knowing they had a microphone, it would have been nice for them to welcome guests in at the beginning and given directions to those who have never been here before. While I know this is not to the same level as the other Movie and Dinner events out there, it was something new to try out and nice that Utah has something like this.

We had a special family event at the Lavender House, and it was a wonderful, memorable experience. I couldn't believe how impressive the garden was. So much work for two people to keep pristine. I'm attaching a few pictures from our visit. It was really intimate, no noise pollution, just peace and quiet, Our experience was really pleasant. The Lavender House is well-deserving of five stars! I wanted to edit my post because I'm in disbelief that someone wrote such a distorted review. (Sounds like they wanted to blame other people for their lack of planning!) While I was there, the business owner, Peggy, was very kind and very hard-working. She and her husband Scott made our experience very comfortable and met our every need. Thanks a bunch. I hope to be back -- we had a lovely time!

I was stuck planning a…read morewhole wedding by myself and was tempted to call it quits and have a BBQ, when my mom mentioned Peggy and Scott st the Lavender House and can I just say, these people are amazing?!?! Peggy spent hours working with me to help coordinate the cake, make and set up decorations, and she even put together our arch (which was adorable btw) in the last hour, because I forgot everything about it! These guys bent over backward to make our day absolutely perfect! The gardens are AMAZING and I could not hear enough about them all night. They are so well maintained and so gorgeous, I can't imagine the amount of time spent on them. The building is always immaculate, just like the gardens, and the gift shop is fantastic (and CRAZY reasonable. Btw.) There are dried flowers picked directly from the gardens that you can buy and decorate your home with in the gift shop and they smell AMAZING. We loved our night. We loved our experience. We love the Lavender House. (AND YOU WILL TOO!)
