Dr Heather Miller bought this practice from Dr Debbie when she retired last year. Dental hygienist Josephine is still there. The new dentist has been great, and I especially liked the ultrasonic cleaner she used instead of the scraping hook. It was much more comfortable! I try to take good care of my teeth, but I think I'm also lucky to have "good teeth," so I have minimal dental work. My 76 year old mother, on the other hand, probably doesn't have a single tooth that hasn't had something done to it. She used to have a phobia of dentists, but she is a great admirer of both Dr Miller and Josephine. My whole family goes to this dental office, and have no complaints. As to other reviewers' comments about the prices- dental insurance is only good for cleanings if you ask me. Once you have a dental problem, you're gonna have to pay out of your own pocket too. Evanston Dental Spa is a beautiful dental office. The Dr. and staff are very nice. They explain everything in detail. They work with you as far as payment options. I wouldn't go anywhere else. They treat patients of all ages from 1 to 100. read more

At first I was excited to meet this dentist. The waiting area was nice and inviting. The first time I tried to go in I was off on the time I thought the appointment was for (was heading in when they said I already missed it). When I brought my kids in later that day they told me they were charging me $50 as a no show. It was my first time there so was a little surprised. The kids were in the chair about 7 minutes each. Bill came to $600 for the 2 kid's express cleanings and my $50 charge. Something's not right there. I was going to another dentist we love who isn't on our dental plan, who is really thorough and spends far more time. I didn't want to write a poor review, but given the results of that day my family of 5 are not going back. read more

I've had a phobia of Dentists since I was a child. I've had several Dentists over the years and one was worse than the other. I finally ended up with a Dentist that was somewhat better but I still had severe anxiety. About 12 years ago Dr. Debbie took over that Dentist's practice and finally at age 66 my phobia is almost gone. Dr.Debbie & Josephine (I have been following Jo for over 20 years), her assistant are the best. I've never had a dentist that was so compassionate. From the time you walk in you begin to relax. Dr. Debbie & Jo greet you with some minor chot-chat. Unlike other practices, there is no commotion, no other personnel running around or several other patients going in or out. Dr. Debbie's practice is one-on-one personal service. When you go in for your appointment there are just the three of you. I'm the type that needs to know every step of the procedure and Dr. Debbie keeps me informed. I will always hate the sound of the drill and Dr. Debbie lets me know how much more and when the drilling is done. Aside from basic dental care, Dr. Debbie has extracted a tooth and when I asked how much longer she said it was all done. Today I had my first Root-Canal (OMG), not a second of pain. Dr. Debbie's practice, Evanston Dental Spa is not the cheapest and if you are looking for cheap you should go to a Dental School where students not a Dr. perform the procedure. I am so happy that Dr. Debbie is my Dentist who I highly recommend. read more

I had a bad experience here 10 or 15 years ago when they failed to bill my insurance correctly, then refused to help fix the problem, but gave them another shot when I moved back to Evanston in my 30s. So glad I did! Turns out the ' problem employee' from way back when was fired and been replaced by reputable, long term staff. Dr Debbie is incredibly professional, kind and on the ball with schedules, reminders, billing and communication. Plus they are somehow ALWAYS on time. I've sent my parents, husband and 2 kids here with NO issues in over a decade!! Not sure why Yelp is hiding so many 4 and 5 star reviews as "not recommended"... I have nothing but good things to say! Do not go to this dentist. You will be ripped off and the works that will be done will be sub par at best. Make sure you get a second opinion for any recommended work that this dentist suggests. Make sure your insurance fully covers any visits by this dentist because this office claims they take your insurance but since their fees are higher you will end up paying out of pocket (quite a bit). I was misled and when I had to go back for the dentist to check some bad work done, she claimed it was just fine and then attempted to charge my insurance $100 for an office visit that lasted 20 seconds. This dentist is a cheat! Not only did another dentist tell me the job was done poorly, but I will have to pay to have it all done again. This is after Dr. Tekdogan claimed nothing was wrong with the original job she did. She tried to blame a horrid taste in my mouth on me not flossing (which I do-daily). read more

Like the first reviewer says, make sure that any work sugested by Dr. Tekdogan is pre-authorized by your insurance company or you will be in for a sticker shock when you get your bill. They use a bait-and-switch approach to get you in and claim that they take your insurance. Protect yourself by having the costs for all suggested procedures - even regular cleanings - in writing and pre-approved since they do not submitt claims to insurance companies in a timely manner and then only with more costly procedures never discussed with you. You will be stuck retroactively with prices that are more than 5 times higher than before. They use high pressure sales techniques and the work is substandard, This dentist is not interested in preventive maintenance only in selling you whitening procedures and expensive sonicare toothbrushes. read more

My family and I have been seeing Dr. Debbie for 10 years. She is very professional, there's never a wait and she I have found her prices to be in line with other dentists. For a period of time when I didn't have dental insurance she worked with me. SWB seems to have had a terrible experience but for the ten years I have seen her I have never experienced anything remotely like what he/she is referring to. read more

I'm unable to get digital copies of my digital records. They will only print them- further, thy are charging $30 for those records when the state dental board indicates the rate for copies can not exceed $26.80. It's ridiculous that they charge above average rates for sub par services and then won't send records digitally. read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Deborah Tekdogan's for quite a few years. Although a visit to the dentist is not a favorite activity, I have always found Dr. Debbie and her staff to be a pleasure to see. The office is warm and inviting and the service provided by Dr. Debbie and her assistants has always been efficient and competent and most importantly, as painless as possible. Several years ago my husband's cap came off a front tooth right before an important meeting. Dr. Debbie was kind enough to fit him into her busy schedule even though he had not been a patient of hers and saved the day. He is now also a happy and satisfied patient. read more

I wish I could give zero stars. This place is a horrendous business. And makes you lose all hope in dentists. I started going here because it was convenient-in and out but quickly realized it was better to drive to lake forest than spend one more minute here. First off they told me I needed 3 crowns when I couldn't believe that I scheduled a consultation with my former dentist in lake forest who took X-rays and took one look at my teeth and said "anyone who tells you you need even one crown is in it for your money" I didn't even have a cavity. I made the mistake before this of referring my boyfriend to dr Debbie and she put a crown on one of his teeth over a year ago, he still complains that it wasn't done right and he can't chew on that side of his mouth. Most recently my younger brother who had been a patient of dr Debbie felt like he had a cavity and because of our bad experiences decided not to go to dr Debbie and went to a different dentist. My brother previously had a filling placed by dr Debbie and this is where he was feeling the pain. The dentist my brother saw today took an X-ray and showed the tooth that dr Debbie filled never had a cavity in it and also the filling dr Debbie placed wasn't done correctly and therefore left and air pocket between the tooth and the filling causing the pain. I'm so disgusting with her and this place and I hope no one ever goes here. read more

I went to see Dr. Deborah Tekdogan at Evanston Dental Spa for a chipped tooth. She did some preparation work and put in a new crown. I found both Dr. Tekdogan and her staff to be professional, friendly, competent, and sensitive to my concerns. All of the procedures were entirely painless. We discussed treatment procedures and mutually agreed on a plan. I was extremely happy with the results as far as quality, fit, and price.
