We did our due diligence and selected five roofing companies based on Angie, BBB, Google & Yelp reviews. Evans has been putting roofs up all over Florida for almost forty years. We were impressed with Meal as he clearly explained the roofing process, warranties, brought materials that we could see and feel and provided us with a list of neighbors that used them. We reached out to a few neighbors who were pleased with their job. We wanted the roofing job to start after hurricane season but it was started earlier. The new very heavy cement tiles were stacked on the roof when hurricane Helene & Milton were passing us by. I reached out to Evans with our concerns and the following morning our stacks were secured with metal ties. Our roof was completed as detailed. The new roof looks beautiful. We were connected with a painter to touch up our walls, a screen repairman to replace our torn screens and a gutter company. Our only issue was that we often were not informed about what was happening next. For example, we would have moved our car away from the house and juggled things around had we known when deliveries were coming. A trailer was moved in front of our garage and we had to have it moved so we could move our car. Yesterday a roofing crew from Evans Roofing, supervised by Mr. Garcia, came and took off our 30 year old tile roof and put down the protective covering and made a number of repairs. The crew was very efficient and professional. During the demolition our yard was filled with tarps that were overflowing with old roofing material however when the men left at the end of the day, the environment was completely clean. When it comes to roofing companies, especially in Miami, you generally get to chose from the following types: 1.Bad, 2. Very bad, and 3. Horrible. So given what there is to work with, Evans roof is fairly decent - Not perfect for sure, but pretty good. I've hired Evans roofing for 2 new roofs on 2 of my houses and I'm in the process of hiring them for 2 more roofs. After a few years of research, and a lot of time spending doing my own roof repairs and analyzing why roofs fail, I'm now basically a roofing expert and often have to spend time educating roofing contractors and workers on the building code and proper procedures. My advice for someone wanting to hire a roofing company: 1. The incentives of a roofing company are not aligned with the incentives of the customer. You want the best roof possible that will last 50years. The roofing company wants to do the job as cheap as possible, and have it last only 5 years until the warranty is expired, then they can charge you for repairs. So the customer must be educated if he/she wants a good result. Spend a few hours educating yourself on roof types, pros and cons, etc. so much confusion and bad reviews are from home owners just not knowing how the process works, not knowing the normal issues that come with a new roof, that they would get from any roofing company. 2. Get on your roof and figure out why you had problems. Maybe you have a poor quality roof in past? Maybe you have ponding water on your flat roof. Maybe you have a lot of valleys and stacks, and you will need to consolidate stacks, or move them from problematic areas (dont have a stock in the middle of a valley!) Address these concerns with the roofing company. Don't assume they will just fix everything the way you want it automatically. 3. Get everything in writing. Don't make assumptions on how the job will be done. If you need something special or have special concerns, discuss this first. I had a number of special issues and concerns and requested specific processes be used for my roof, and Evans roofing, and the owner, Thierry, was responsive and discussed my concerns and updated our contract accordingly. Few companies will do this. 4. How knowledgeable is the company? Play dumb and ask questions you already know the answer to. You will quickly separate the scammer companies from the legit companies. Sometime it's just the salesman who is bad, but if the company isn't competent enough to send out a good salesman who knows what he is talking about, and has actual experience with roofing, then I don't hire that company regardless. Evans Roofing has generally sent me knowledgeable salesmen with roofing experience. 5. Make sure the company is licensed, insured, and has been in business for a long time. The common scam with roofing companies is that they close up shop every few years and change their company name. This allows them to not have to honor any warranties. Evans roofing has been in business for a long time. And they have all the proper licensing and insurance, etc. 6. Don't expect perfection. It's difficult for a company to hire workers and have them do everything correctly. But you can watch the work get done and make sure it is getting done to your expectations. Often times you can get the desired end goal as long as you guide the process along. It will be a little bit of work on your end if you want the best possible product. 7. Framing is not Evans Roofing strength, and it's not any roofing company's strength. If you have any significant amount of wood damage/rot/termite damage to replace, you probably need to hire a framing expert to come in as well, if you want to get the job done correctly. 8. Issues will come up and you will have to sometimes stop the work and talk to the company reps. Make sure the roofing company will talk to you, listen to you, and work with you to fix your specific issues and so you can get a high quality roof that will last 30yrs. They replaced a flat roof on the back of my house. They were fast and efficient, and did an average job cleaning up. The reasons they BARELY get 3 stars are listed below. 1) I found roofing nails in my pool. They turned up in my yard for almost a year after the job was complete. 2) I'm not sure what they used for the top layer of the roof, but I continue to find gravel that has washed off the roof in my pool. I am constantly having to vacuum the gravel which settles in the bottom of my pool filter. This is over 2 years after the job was completed. 3) They replaced some sections of fascia, but neglected to even bother to throw on a coat of primer or some other paint, they left raw wood. The fascia got wet and warped, so I had to have it replaced. Besides warping, wet wood attracts termites. I am not going to recommend or not recommend this company. It is better than some of the fly-by-night roofers, but not as good as some top notch roofers. It seems like a stable company that will be in business long enough to honor its warranty, unlike my last roofer who was out of business in 5 years making my warranty worthless. I don't know how good the company is at honoring its warranty, so I will not comment, nor speculate. My final words are these. If you can find an older more reliable roofing company, use it, if not, this company is better than "Joe's Fly-by-Night Lawn Service, Handyman, and Roofing" that operates out of a pickup truck on weekends. read more

Buyer beware. Make sure you take pictures of every angle of your BEFORE roof. Evans Roofing illegally removed a Plumbing Vent Stack and caused major Plumbing problems in our house. They lied and lied. After a month of battling, Miami-Dade County is now ensuring that they pay for all the Plumbing repairs. This whole fight with them has made me physically ill and has caused me to be bedridden for weeks. They are also charging me for Skylights they never installed. They caused a fire on my property, they dumped the equivalent of a large bucket of hot asphalt off my roof, killing my plants, and they painted my wall with paint that is nothing like mine, even though I had specifically told Eva not to. Thierry, Eva and Jacob are not nice people. At all. They don't even care if you are a Senior citizen. Stay away. read more

Evans Roofing was recommended to me by a neighbor. So i went all in with them, the salesman offered me a Tag & Stick method of installing the roof as a bonus. When the day came, they started without the Tag & Stick and used the traditional method, I called them and they immediately corrected, but be aware that a regular person does not know about roofing methods so I was lucky because I detected it myself at the beginning.... Then when they were installing I noticed that my roof (chestnut brown that is a dark color) had white marks all over and I told them so, they said It was because the shoes of the workers and the glue they were using but that they were going to leave it all clean once they finish. When it was finished, it took weeks for the city inspector to approve for issues regarding how the water was going to be drained .... eventually it got approved Then I noticed that the color they used to make the roof look uniform in the corners and unions was totally different than the chestnut brown AND the white spots from the beginning still were all over, I told them to correct both issues and they could correct only the first one, as they tried to clean the white spots and finally after weeks told me that those marks were impossible to clean as the roof had come with them!!!..... So I went back to inspect some left overs and they were right, the roof had come with these white spots!!!... I told them...you guys do this for a living and are the ones supposed to reject a bad product, furthermore the insurance wired Evans roofing the total amount they were contracted for and they were the one who paid for the tiles that my wife chose as part of the many offers they showed us. I called the manager and she said that as this was a bad product issue they could not do nothing for me!!.... I called the manufacturers and issued a claim and the manufacturers said that yes they were willing to cover for 50% of the cost in solving this problem but the other 50% should be covered by Evans Roofing as they had detected that there were in fact other staining issues caused by the installation, and they informed me that Evans had declined to cover that 50%.... So I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone read more

If you used Best Pick Reports to guide your selection and you happen to think about using Evans Roofing, get ready for a root canal without any anethesisia. These guys will test every bit of yoru patience, their Project manager Jacob has a serious issue with respecting home owners and their instructions. Their customer service is beyond bad and get ready for damage to your property so take pre project start pictures of all your property and cars. These guys damaged both my car and some light fixtures, and they insisted in back charging their own employees, instead of making the homeowner whole. The worst part of this that their project took a total of 5 months and 15 days, with constant call out to get status. My advise is that find another roofing company and DO NOT USE ANY Best Pick Reports guidance, since they obviously dont do any customer surveying to see if these companies they advertise hold their end of the deal. I am still waiting for my project closeout documents 3 weeks after signing project completion. read more

I had to make a yelp just for this because Evan's manipulates google reviews to better their Public image. Evans replaced the whole roof on my property back in 2018, I moved in 2019 and the skylight was leaking, I hired Evans ( same company) to come replace my skylights with 2 brand new skylights. The skylights they installed leaked from day 1. They came out several times but still could fix it, Thierry Devove the president came out to check it out and told me that he was busy but would send out a crew when it was first available, then he told me " sometimes these things leak" after his crew came the final time the skylight still leaks, I tried to contact Evans several times and was not able to reach them. I posted a one star google review expressing my frustration, expressing they are the worst, and that I still had not heard back from them on the resolution. Now almost one full year later my skylight still leaks. I was finally able to get Thierry on the phone, He didn't remember me, and he asked me to text him my information so that when he got back to the office he could familiarize himself with my situation. I received a message from him later telling me " removed the bad review and I'll send my crew to your house." well that pissed me right off. So I told him forget it that I don't appreciate being squeezed and that neither he nor his crew is welcome on my property. In my personal opinion,Thierry Devove is an extortionist. I am reporting this through all possible channels. If you live in South Florida it would behoove you to steer clear of doing business with Thierry Devove. As a freshly jobless former active duty service member, I have nothing BUT time to dedicate to insure that no one else is given the shaft by Evans roofing under Thierry Devove. FYI...This is the first company I have ever considered reviewing. They damaged my skylights resulting in leaks. 100% leak free before Evan's Roofing! They also damaged an exterior light. They will take no responsibility. Nothing in the contract absolves them from these damages. They also damaged rare palm trees and gutter covers during the tear off phase, which cost me $500. They are however, not responsible for these items per their contract. Which is understandable. I too found nails everywhere after clean up, including the pool. Enough to fill a gallon paint can! That being said, like a spoiled teenager, they decieded to void my roof warranty unless I remove the BBB complaint I filed. So naturally it's still there. I want nothing Free!! I don't like being threatened. Do you?? Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere for your roofing needs folks. All companies want to do a good job. All companies encounter problems and mistakes. As I started to read reviews over the social media platform glad I'm not doing business with this company. My experience goes as follows. I called to get a quote for a reroof of my manufactured home in FT Lauderdale, everything was going along smoothly untill they asked if this was a mobile home. I said no its a manufactured home with a asphalt roof, wood trusses, typical "A" frame construction. Then all of a sudden they claim its there policy to not do mobile homes. I again said it not a mobile home. I asked why they don't do manufactured homes or in there view a mobile home and all I got "it was policy". Again, I'm trying to figure out why they don't do manufactured home and then they started to get rude. Last quote from them before I hung up was "Why don't you get it? We don't do mobile homes." In reality the answer is pretty simple, job is to small for there company to handle and don't want to deal with the little people. As an experienced construction worker, there is absolutely no difference in they way a manufactured roof is made or materials used compared to a typical wood framed house or block house. So this is a warning, if a company acts like this, just imagine the issues after you hire them. read more

So I just bought a property within the last month, the owner had passed away, and the roof is leaking. This roof was done in 2018 and cost over 20,000 Evans roofing now refuses to warranty the roof they did since the prior owner did not sign the warranty over to me, the new owner, nor did he continue with thier mantainance scheme during the last months of his life. Like really, who would ever expect someone who is dying to be concerned with their roof...how insensitive can someone be!!! Not to mention, any new roof should not leak in less than 4 years and if so the roofing company should repair it period...but not EVANS roofing, they don't stand by their product nor their workmanship...makes one wonder why, not me I know why!!!!!!!! They repaired my roof but ended up painting the repaired portion a different color. I told the manager (who i called several times) and not even the owner of the company fixed the situation. Honestly, I've not used them for a job yet, but just wrote a negative review for another roofer, so wanted to add this also. I've got a small house that needs a complete re-roof. I'm getting multiple bids and Evans knows this. I'm not sure if they are always like this, or it is the perceived competition for the work, but they have been very good to work with so far. Thierry sent his proposal quickly, with enough details on the work that I could ask lots of questions, which he replied to the next morning. Tech. came out to repair garage door springs and opener, he replaced the springs, he tried to repair the motor, said he couldn't fix it. The tech refunded me $65.00 since he could not repair the motor. I contacted home Depot, they will install an opener for less than $90.00, I should of gone there 1st. due to our budget. First one gave me an estimate of 1900.00 dollars ,then I called Evans roofing and spoke with Mr. Ricardo Gorni the gave me an estimate of 1350.00 for the same job. Do not use this company! They are scamsters and a ripoff! We used them because Jim Evans raved about their flat roof restoration processing using an elastrometric sealer. He gave us a brochure that says this R 400 process is the "most advanced waterproofing technology" in the world. He charged a 4 DIGIT AMOUNT to clean our roof and gables and apply this process. They gave us a 2 year warranty with the expiration date noted. When this seal started to wear off right around that time and we started getting leaks, we got suspicious. We then learned from speaking with their elastrometric vendor that what a lot of these scamsters do is THIN OUT THE RUBBER COATING WITH WATER. This seal should have lasted much longer than two years according to his own product vendor!!! When we called Jim Evans about what we had been told about the product, he became very nasty with us. Avoid this company unless you want to be an annuity for this Robber and Liar!!! read more

I can't say enough about how great Evans Roofing is. Years ago they installed a new roof in Pembroke Pines and since then we have had two small issues not because of there work but because of how our a/c unit is installed on our roof.The owner came out about a week ago ,assessed the problem and in a short while sent out two great guys that went on our roof ,found the problem ,and took care of it.
