I had been craving Mediterranean food for a while so I decided to look up local eateries in New Jersey when I found Evan's Restaurant coming up again and again in searches on another search site with rave reviews (Oddly enough there wasn't a single review on Yelp). One reviewer wrote "Would recommend to any one who THINKS they've had good Greek food before", with that I was sold on the idea of giving it a try, especially if it's as good as people were saying, they weren't kidding - the food was excellent. We started off with Spanakopita (spinach, and feta cheese in phyllo dough), it was fresh, crispy and delicious, some restaurants tend to put too much feta making it very salty and inedible, this was perfectly balanced with great flavors. The gyros were delicious, they offer them in beef, chicken and pork, we had the beef gyros and they were outstanding with no fat, was not greasy and it was very well seasoned. In addition we asked for a sample of the Falafel and it was mouth wateringly good. This was our first visit so we haven't tried the rest of the menu however those three items were so well made and flavorful that I'm sure the rest of the menu will not disappoint. As far as the decor of the place, it could definitely use some sprucing up. By no means is the place elegant for a date it has more of a diner type quality to it but then again the atmosphere does have a warm simple appeal about it as well. Take-out service is available also. They have a very large menu with an array of menu selections both Greek (souvlaki, hummus, kabobs, etc.) and American from burgers, cheesesteak sandwiches, to wings, and much more. Next time we go I will have to give the hummus a try, we would have had that also but were too stuffed from the rest of what we had. They also have traditional Greek desserts, which we did not try either. The service was very good, our server was friendly, attentive and accommodating. Overall, if you want a good home made style meal with nothing fancy but good eating and something kids would enjoy also, then this is the place for you. We will certainly be going there again. read more

A group of us went there and had beef gyro platter and chicken gyro platter.Gave a nice big portions.The Gyro's were fresh right of the gyro roaster.And the chicken gyro flavors were amazing the way it should be.And the fries and rice were delicious.Also ordered fried mozzarella sticks.They were also amazing.Also very afordable prices.I wish I new of this place sooner. I have been to alot of gyro places around NJ and this place blows the doors of of any i have been too.It's well worth a drive to enjoy a gryo done to perfection. read more
