I used this company many years ago for my wedding and have nothing but praise for not only their professionalism but the standard of food provided. I'm celebrating a big birthday this year and will be calling on their services again. read more

Boyce Caterers

Recently attended an event in Aberdare, Boyce's Tonypandy did the catering !…read more The food is very 'muck on a truckish' though better then last years. I'm writing this as I feel Boyce's need to get into the 21st Century. 1. Don't have the desserts out on display as people are to the event, ( think of Food hygiene recommendations as to how long cream and cheese should be let out of a refrigerator before serving ! 2. Don't put the milk in the tea/coffee before serving 3. The big one train staff in customer relations I was appalled that a fellow guest was asked to hurry up with her coffee as the waitress's' were ready to leave!!!!! The food maybe 'good value' but I'd happily pay a more for serve with a smile

They have a dining area which they do not utilise enough in my opinion, if they used these tables and chairs they'd be good for a rainy day, but to have to take away sometimes is very inconvenient, but I'm willing to come back on times if their food can be more consistent and that customers can use the dining area, good luck to the owners and staff.

We attended a wedding party in the evening at St Peters and Spiros were the cateres. I had heard…read moregood things mentioned so was looking forward to the food but if Im honest there were things they could do to improve. Im hoping any criticism will be constructve as overall the buffet was fair. Sandwhiches offered were great in variety but the bread was very dry, however my biggest issue was that they put the entire variety of sandwhiches on one big platter meaning with 150 people trying to grab food as quickly as possible you ended up grabbing sandwhiches that you didnt like. The exact same thing happened with the wraps they offered, all put on one platter mixed in. I took tuna and couldnt eat and hubby took cheese and didnt eat as the menu cards said coronation chicken (im sure they were in there somewhere). They did have a young man standing behind the platters but he said nothing. All in all the food was ok for buffet food but needs to be better organised on the serving tables. Would have meant we would have had some food and not have wasted what we did have. I would eat there again no problem but only if I can see exactly what im eating as I hate to waste food. Servers in st peters and spiros were all immaculately dressed and very attentive in clearing away. I also think the venue of st peters was lovely and we had a great night.

They make lovely Italian ice cream, just like proper ice cream should be and out of this world pastries and cakes - you must try their custard slice the best in Wales. It was lovely to see the traditional cottage garden plants available, such as lupins and bleeding hearts. There was also some lovely hanging baskets for sale at £15 and £10, which I thought to be very good value. The shop also stocks bird food as well as a large range of sachets of herbs and spices. The shop keeper explained to me that they provide fruit and vegetables to local restaurants and are happy to take orders for fruit baskets.

If you're a big fan of Farthings (which I am) it's a great place to pick up all kinds of treats that they serve in the restaurant. The cheeses are incredible and I subscribe to the theory that the stinkier the cheese the better. One good slab of Stilton had full control of my fridge for over a week. It's all really good quality local produce but also stocks speciality treats. Around Christmas time this place is absolutely buzzing, not just because people are stocking up on gingerbread, cold cuts and cheeseboard goodies but because they sell gifts. I got my mum some lovely tapas bowls and stuffed olives as a stocking filler last year and she absolutely loved it.

Now I know that the cost of maple syrup has gone up inordinately, and that the brand (an average one) is organic, but this is a little extreme! It's usual to pay over £4.00 for maple syrup in supermarkets, but you can find it cheaper at either Lidl or Aldi where I bought some for about £3.00, but I can't remember exactly which one... try 'em both! And. I think it was organic... but quite oddly, for a high cost food item, there is usually little to no difference in the pricing structure of organic and non-organ syrup. I still visit Fathings when I feel like a treat, and want to splash out. They do the best of everything, and so you'll never be disappointed with the quality. If I was on a high income I'd shop here all the time. They have an extensive stock range, and so you can pretty much avoid the supermarket when buying the ingredients for dinner.

Even going every day I don't think I managed to work my way through them. Great for grabbing a quick breakfast bap, equally as good for an obscure baguette choice. They have specials and seasonal offers too, so I can vouch for the Christmas turkey, stuffing and cranberry sandwich. Nice little outdoor seating area though it is slightly reminiscent of a greenhouse. I always find it's good to grab something tasty and head down the road to Alexandra Park for an impromptu picnic.
Taste Buds is located next to KBS on City Road, and has been there a whole lot longer. In fact,…read moreTaste Buds has been trading for the last twenty two years, and so it has witnessed the dramatic changes that have occurred on what has now become the take-away mile in Cardiff. With every other shop being a fast food joint in this area, competition has never been so fierce. Some say that the market is overly saturated, with some of the owners of the more long established take-aways bemoaning the fact that it is now a whole lot more difficult to earn a decent whack. It's understandable, they are having to work longer hours for less revenue, and price wars are cutting profit margins on a regular basis. Taste Buds to some extent have played it smart. They have diversified into the outside catering market, and so are not entirely reliant on the revenue from the café itself. Nevertheless, the café still provides a reasonable income. With a good reputation for well-made food at reasonable prices, they still see a fair amount of custom each day. Offering traditional food in an environment that specialises in the more exotic these days, means that they also have a bit of a niche going on.

Each to his/her own for me I have had enough of the ordinary and enjoy trying every other flavourful cuisine going. As a survivor of the influx of restaurants offering everything from fried chicken to pizza although sometimes with dubious connection to Italian styles (you know who you are Italiano's). Anyway Taste Bud serves it's purpose with a good traditional menu and also offerings that are similar to all the other cafes. The seating is noteworthy in that it is like a McDonald fast food eatery having chairs welded to each other, the table and the floor for good measure, they are padded but not particularly somewhere you could relax.

They were spacious and beautiful. The main issue we had were the showers. My uncle actually had to have them come up and explain how his worked in order to get the hot water, and he is a plumber. In our room you were given a choice, hot water or water pressure. If you wanted hot water you had a trickle of water but if you wanted a good steam of water, well then you had a bracing flow of very cold water. That being said despite the minor inconveniences, we loved our stay. It truly was beautiful off the beaten path, the staff was friendly and helpful. It was a chance to travel back in time to get a minor taste of what being a guest a hundred years ago may have felt like. So no it's not a 5 star luxury hotel.
