After a bit of searching we decided to go with Europcar for our car rental in Germany. We used them before in Poland and had nothing but good things to say about the experience. Generally, things were good this time was well, except for 1 small issue that became a huge inconvenience later on; they gave us a car with totally spent windshield wipers.
We called them up and told them about the issue, and their solution was to have us buy and install new wipers (not to fix it at one of their branches or give us a replacement car mind you) and then get reimbursed when we dropped the car off at the airport. I have to say, this kind of sucked. We were traveling through a lot of small villages, so it's not like service stations are all that prevalent. Also, to go through a reimbursement claim process at the rental drop off when I am trying to catch a flight out of the country is not a very appealing prospect
Anyway, I will say that the car was otherwise as described and truth be told I would definitely use them (or Sixt) in Europe because the US companies that operate in overseas (like Dollar and Hertz) are far worse in my opinion than Europcar could ever be. read more
