This is an update. Eureka delivered my cover April 2. I started the order May 8 of 2024, The quality is fantastic. He came out to fit it on the trailer 2 times to get things perfect, add reinforcement where he saw a few spots. He threw in a tire cover and guide on covers for free. I will say the communication was not what I was used to. It's a family shop and they get very busy. I never expected it to take as long as it did. Since my original review was one star I am leaving this a 5 for quality making the overall average a 3 I guess is fair due to the long long delay. read more

Eureka canvas has done three jobs for me they've been late one to two months on the first two. The one they're doing for me now he's two months late and hasn't returned the call it texts or an email in a week. I'm going to have to go after him for the deposit and find a new contractor to do the job. Florencio is not a man of his word. I would recommend you pay more and not do any business with them. read more

I cannot say enough about Florencio and his crew. They are true pros. I had a very custom job and they didn't hesitate to tackle it.... because they know what they are doing. Not only was it all a reasonable price, but they were sincerely professional in their interactions with me. I had to have some flexibility regarding scheduling the job because they are a small shop. And that is why I went with them! So I was willing to be flexible. Compared to other shops in the Ventura area that are terrible or just swamped, these guys really give their customers personal service. Take for instance, there is another shop, but the owner is burned out and they have way too many employees and that means there are rookies. The owner is spread WAY too thin in that that person has to oversee every job and it waters down the quality of the work or they have to charge more because of their higher overhead. Eureka is the place to go: what a joy working with them. He knew his business so well that he could obviously visualize the build and execute a very quality product. Honestly they surpassed my expectations. I restore old boats and cars, so I know a little. They were open to my feedback and made some small alterations without guilt tripping the hell out of you like SO many other shops do. They took total responsibility for the job. I have only great things to say about Florencio and Eureka Marine Canvas. They made me a beautiful sail cover that had a short turn-around time, and fits perfectly. The price was fair, and Florencio not only installed the new sail cover, but returned my loaner cover to my sail maker. I was able to take off and put back on the new cover easily the first time. Years ago my wife and I were among Florencio's first customers when he left Castro Canvas and started his own independent business in Ventura. He has worked on several of our boats and his workmanship and price point were always excellent. I've recommended him to other boaters and even got him a job constructing the canvas awnings at the High Street Art Center in Moorpark, CA ... on which he did an excellent job. So it is with disappointment that I now have to give him the lowest possible rating. History: In Feb. of 2022 we gave Florencio a check for over $5,700 as a 50% downpayment on a full enclosure replacement on our 48' powerboat. I had no reluctance giving him such a large deposit because of our years of positive past experience with him. In his written estimate Florencio stated an estimated completion date of 3/31/22. It is now 2/15/23 and all we have is one piece of canvas on our boat. Months ago he removed all of our original canvas so now all of our exposed seating and equipment is taking a beating from the weather. Repeated calls and text messages to Florencio go unanswered. I know he has had family issues that affected his work schedule, but for a full year?! So it is with sadness that I strongly recommend that you NOT use Eureka Marine Canvas and certainly don't get talked into giving Florencio a 50% deposit to "get put on the schedule." They have done excellent work for me in the past and for that I would highly recommend them based on the quality of their work and their decent prices. In April of 2019 they did some more work for me and I paid in full for that and I put a $250 deposit down on another $400 job. It's September and I still have no project completion and no explanation as for why. Just poof, gone. Not the relationship that I would expect. read more

I had them do a small job for me and the price and quality were both good. I wanted to try them out before I spent a considerable amount of money with a major interior reupholstery, window covers, dinghy cover and cockpit cover jobs. As it turned out he was a complete flake in returning phone calls and trying to set things up. Definitely do not give him any money upfront! Read the other bad reviews. Six months ago my husband dropped off or a barbecue cover for him to make a new one for us. As of today he still has not completed it! I called daily I have left three texts my husband has left several messages and also texts, I went to the business and posted a note on the door simply asking for him to return my original cover and I would take care of it myself. Again no response. It is very obvious he either does not want to do the job or is in capable of doing the job either one he should return the cover so I can find someone else willing to take on the project. I know he is currently working as I have spoken to other businesses in the complex. I would not recommend this business read more

I am in a real quandry writing a review of this business. I gave the owner a $2000 deposit on October 28, 2015 to fabricate a new bridge enclosure and new cockpit pads for my sportfisher located in Channel Islands Harbor. I furnished the backing boards for the cockpit pads, they were finished 6 weeks later. The flybridge enclosure is another story. From the date I gave the owner the deposit check it was 8-1/2 months before the job was finished. I kept getting excuse after excuse, promise after promise, completion date after completion date that the job would be done. I had to threaten to demand my deposit back. That being said, the craftsmanship is superb. The enclosure fits like a glove. My recommendation is if you have this business do any work for you get an ironclad completion date contract. read more

Or you get someone who is ok, but their inexpensive, so you tolerate the rest. I have been very pleased with the canvas work enclosing the bridge of my boat. It was necessary for Florencio to reconstruct the tube framing as well as design, manufacture and install the custom cover to accommodate my requirements. The enclosure has been on the boat for several seasons now and it is holding up very well. I have had Florencio do some additional work on my boat and have been equally impressed. In the near future I will need a custom awning added to the boat and know who I will call. Excellent work at reasonable prices. read more

The canvas work on my bridge was finished on July 29th and I am very happy with the quality of the material and workmanship. The final price was about one half of what others would charge. I would use them again. read more
