TOA has been the super glue that keeps us all functioning! (Or until the next body part we try to rip off.) In this building are the offices on 3rd floor, the MRI center on the 3rd floor and the surgery center on the ground floor. This location is tied into the other locations in the region. That is a huge plus as it means once you are set up, everything is view-able from location to location, Doctor to Doctor, Doctor to Physical Therapist. They use smart tablets to enter your information and payment plus use online check-in. This location also has close parking! That is very important when you are limping in pain to see a doctor. It's also helpful when you just finished surgery and you want to get home NOW before the pain killers wear off. The staff at this location are fantastic! Very easy to work with, friendly, caring and absolutely want to help you heal! They are knowledgeable in working with insurance which can be challenge these days. If you break or tear a body part in this region, TOA is where you want to go!

I liked that most of them came out of UT Southwestern with very impressive resumes. I went to a different doctor first who does not perform knee replacements, but highly recommended Dr. Champine. I had a short informative meeting with Dr. Champine where he laid out a very disciplined process that gave me great confidence that he was the guy to do my knee replacement. I'm still early in the process, one week out from surgery yesterday. I went out with the family and had a steak to celebrate last night using a cane. I'm off pain meds, doing well in rehab and everything is going better than I thought it would. I will drive myself to rehab today and walk it off along the Trinity River after. The physical therapists at rehab came over to see and compliment my nicely zippered incision asking who did it. They nodded when I answered Michael Champine one saying he does beautiful work. Thanks to Dr Champine and his great team I will be spending thanksgiving dinner with my family in Austin 2 weeks after surgery instead of perhaps home in bed.

He made me feel like I had no reason to be there or to take up any of his time with my knee pain. He asked me what I was doing there since my x-rays looked normal. He did ask a few questions, but in a humoring me kind of way. He never addressed me by my name. The entire visit took less than 10 minutes. He basically told me I had to live with my knee pain forever. He suggested a few rounds of therapy and had a mocking expression on his face the entire time. The staff was wonderful but he was rude and cold. He didn't even say goodbye when he left the exam room. Terrible experience.

Since then Dr Chris has not only successfully treated that injury but also accurately identified and surgically rectified an ongoing pain source stemming from an ER surgery on my other leg fourteen years earlier. Having spent far too much of my time in Orthopedic Surgeons' waiting rooms since 2010 I greatly appreciate the timeliness and professionalism that Dr Chris, his practice and Texas Orthopedic Associates consistently demonstrated throughout my time under his care. I was sent here by Ben Abbott & Associates after a car wreck to treat my injuries. The office staff rarely seemed to know what was going on in the clinic, as I had to call back for prescription refills after visits multiple times. Twice during a 4 month treatment I arrived to appointments they canceled because they didn't have the x-ray or MRI results they had ordered. They overcharged substantially in comparison to my previous medical treatment from Tarpon. I only learned this after another medical provider I was also seeing told me what Epic charges for office visits. Because I was taking pain medication, I had to visit the office every 10 days for a refill, so the bill racked up very quickly. During the course of my treatment, I had multiple delays of procedures (sometimes for weeks) because they said they were waiting for approval from Ben Abbott. I'd call Ben Abbott, who would tell me it had already been approved. The doctors are great, but the front office seemed to be stalling at every turn. When my treatment was canceled by Ben Abbott as it had well exceeded the other driver's insurance coverage, I had been waiting for a procedure for over two weeks. Now almost a year later I can barely even walk. I would NOT recommend this clinic to anyone!

After explaining my symptoms he had a pretty good idea what was wrong with me, and after an MRI his suspicions were correct that I had a stress fracture. It was such a relief to find out what was wrong with me, as I previously thought I had a muscle strain. Dr. Raynor's staff is also really nice and always concerned about my well-being. I really like the system of pre-visit online check-in at Texas Orthopedic Associates, so you don't have to spend each appointment filling out paperwork and you can actually get to your appointment on time. The only negative is sometimes it was hard to get an appointment that works with my schedule. Dr. Raynor is well in demand, and I completely understand why.
