The staffs are caring and the principal truly cares about kids. A new principal is loving and kind and since she has been there, the culture of the school has changed. The academics are through the roof and your children can feel safe with the new safety systems in place. Instead of receiving compassion and immediate protection, the student was met with skepticism and a dismissive attitude from administration. (Dr F ) To make matters worse, the school allowed a mosh pit on the dance floor -- a completely unsafe and irresponsible choice at a school event. This created a chaotic environment where serious incidents could (and did) occur. A school's first priority should be the safety and well-being of its students. In this case, the lack of empathy, poor response, and failure to provide a safe environment showed me that this administration needs serious training and accountability. We were here watching a Wrestling Program. All the kids did a great job. I was attempting to sit in…read morethe gym bleachers to watch the wrestling match. The bleachers don't have handrails. The steps are extremely deep, more so than most steps. I just couldn't get up on the step to sit in the bleachers. A very nice wrestling student from Etiwanda High School and my husband helped me up. Everyone was very nice there however, I heard other wrestling watchers complaining about the steps with no handrails and how deep the steps are.

Unfortunately, I never received any follow-up. I called multiple times after that and was repeatedly told they would call me back the next day--but no one ever did. Eventually, I couldn't even get through to anyone. This was especially upsetting because my daughter was excited about attending. As a private school where families pay out of pocket, I expected a much higher level of communication and care. The lack of professionalism and follow-through is unacceptable. When we attended a tour with my mother-in-law, we also felt very rushed, as if our time and interest didn't matter. I even explained that I was willing to make a 40-minute commute daily for my daughter to attend, which is a big commitment--but that didn't seem to matter to them. Overall, the experience made it clear that this school does not prioritize prospective students or families. The front office appeared understaffed and disorganized, and the lack of communication speaks volumes. It's very disappointing, especially considering the strong expectations associated with a private institution.

I am writing this review because I have serious concerns about student safety, access to…read moreinformation, and pickup/drop-off practices at David W. Long Elementary. My concerns did not start with this school. They come from prior issues involving my daughter's daycare, including concerns I raised regarding people such as Mr. and Mrs. White, questions about who was authorized to pick up my daughter, and information my daughter later shared with me about who had been caring for or transporting her. Because of that history, I have repeatedly asked this school very basic questions: Who is authorized to pick up and drop off my child? How does the school verify that person's identity? Does the school actually document who physically receives a child at dismissal? What happens if someone who is not listed in Aeries arrives to pick up a child? And if another adult is authorized on a one-time basis, where is that documented? I have still not received clear, direct answers to those questions. I have also raised concerns after my daughter shared information with me suggesting that she may have been spending time unsupervised with an adult male who is not her parent. I am not stating that the school caused that situation or that I know exactly what occurred. I am saying that when a parent raises that kind of concern, the school should be able to clearly explain who picked the child up, whether that person was authorized, and what safeguards were used. Instead, I have had to repeatedly ask for basic access to my daughter's information. I had to ask the front office multiple times for information and access to the school system. I was then pushed toward meetings and additional conversations when what I wanted were straightforward written answers about my child. My biggest concern is that I have not been shown a reliable sign-in/sign-out process, electronic release record, or other system that clearly identifies who actually drops off and picks up young children during regular arrival and dismissal. If the school has such a system, I have repeatedly asked them to explain it. If they do not, that is something parents deserve to know. Parents should not have to fight for basic information about who is receiving their child from school. A school should be able to answer, clearly and immediately, how a child was released, who received that child, and what authorization was relied upon. I have now filed formal complaints because my concerns remain unresolved. This is not about creating conflict with the school. It is about a parent asking very basic questions regarding the safety and whereabouts of her child and expecting direct answers. Until the school can clearly explain its pickup, drop-off, release, documentation, and parent-access procedures, I remain deeply concerned about whether the current practices provide enough accountability to protect children it needs to be less than 2500 characters
