She came into the examining room and barely made "eye contact" with me (no pun intended). She was no nonsense and seemed to want to skip any "small talk" and simply take care of "business." She had no patience for my being uncomfortable and actually gave me an insult about not being able to keep my eyes open because of my "anxiety." I've never experienced a doctor who seemed so completely void of any semblance of good "bed side manners." The doctor seemed in a hurry to dismiss me and get to her next patients. The entire visit with her was approximately 10 minutes with her demonstrating the correct technique in applying eye drops.

I was directed to again have a seat out in the reception room and wait to be called back in to see the doctor. I waited for nearly TWO HOURS after my scheduled appointment time. There were no updates on the delay nor information regarding anticipated wait time. There certainly were no apologies for the delay. After the 2 hours, all the reception staff members apparently left for lunch, as there was no one in sight from whom to seek information. More than a bit perturbed, I left. I walked out the door without ever seeing Dr. Jacobs, MD. As a dentist, I understand that treatment and procedures can sometimes require more time than anticipated. Prior to my appointment, Harvard Eye Associates repeatedly reminded me of my appointment time and of the importance of punctuality. "Arrive 15 minutes early," they requested -- presumably so the doctor will not have to wait for me. Apparently, that only applies to the doctor. Patients absolutely deserve to be treated with dignity and respect. At a minimum, their time has value, and it is remarkably unprofessional to ignore someone waiting --- for 2 hours.

His office staff was super organized especially his office manager, Madison, who initiated our communication and started the process rolling while i was still out of the country after learning that i only had a limited time in California. She made an initial consult appt for me soon as i arrived in california. His office staff was very efficient and professional. I was always taken in the examination room on time. Dr Yomtoob came in after all the examination and measurements were done by the optometrist. He explained in detail about his findings, the cataract surgery i needed and the possible results and expectations. What was amazing was his flexibility to adapt his schedule to accommodate my short stay and still allow time for safe healing before i flew back. I could not believe it. After appointment is scheduled get daily annoying message particularly text message with link to complete check in...dha...senior with vision issue and possible cataract and they expect to able see read and complete accurately? a week before appointment local office (thank god) calls says that your appointment will last for two hours with eyes dilation so plan accordingly nothing else, sound good. One day before appointment I received call from Chad/Jay from Philippine call center that I have co pay of $250. for some screening, I called insurance they say no you have 0 copay. this Jay/Chad says it is for screening, screening for what? Is it not that I am going for to assess Cataract issue and potential treatment of it, it is medical need and my specialty visits are fully covered and have no copay. Spend hours with insurance and they told them that I asked for added service, what? how would I know what other added services I can add.... very poor stressful office. No have no choice to cancel the appointment and may get another ophthalmologist.
