When I first moved in there was a small soft spot in the entry way floor. I reported it to maintenance they came in while I was not home and claimed that they could not find it. Through out the 2 years I lived there the soft spot just kept getting bigger till I was not comfortable walking through my own apartment. I had reported this problem 4 times before I was even told that it might get fix. And that took a year and a half, and me contacting the city of Bloomington. Maintenance will come in without notification, even though you are supposed to be notified before they enter. We would usually get an email saying they were coming in after they had already been in our apartment. They will claim that they knock and then yell when they come in. But it happened numerous times where they would knock once and then walk in while we were asleep. They also did not inform us that over winter break they would be installing a vent into my room. I came back from winter break to half the stuff in my room being moved and them trying to hide that a vent had been added to my room. They moved a lot of my stuff in front of the vent so I wouldn't notice. And to top off the shit storm that is this place the office will not answer you if you call, or email. You will be put through an AI thing to see if you actually need to talk to a person. And if you do get through you will get people who argue with you or just don't know the answer.

There was no working heat in one of the bedrooms and they refused to check the furnace and instead opted to close the vents. Incredibly safe and convenient location. Designated bus stops to get to campus, or easily about a 5-min drive to my portion of the campus. Grocery store options are plenty - one is even walkable! Parking is plenty and tenants are mindful of each other by honoring quiet hours set by management. Speaking of which, the team of people on staff are great! Always professional, and very prompt replies. All questions or concerns that came up were answered quickly and thoroughly. Maintenance requests were attended to promptly, as well! The price might be a bit higher than other rental options, but I felt it was definitely worth it. Presentation of the space (grounds kept clean and clear), along with attention to maintenance requests in a timely manner, gave me such peace of mind as someone new to the area. After living there for 2 years, I moved into a single apartment after graduating. This marks my fourth and last year with Covenanter (I have relocated for a job). After living here so long, I know the maintenance and manager office staff by name. I have always felt like they have been friendly and done their jobs well. In 2013 a pipe leaked in my roommate's sink and they fixed it quickly and re-patched the entire affected area of the ceiling. They did a great job. Kudos to Adam/Rick with maintenance. With the 2 br/2.5 ba, I loved all the space in the lower level and the way my roommate and I could have some space to ourselves on the second floor. Plus 2.5 bathrooms! It's so nice to have two full baths and a powder room downstairs. When I moved out of the 2 br, I got most of the security deposit back and they were very fair with deductions. The single I was in had cathedral ceilings and seemed much bigger than the actual square footage. No it's not the most updated place, but it is not anywhere close to the worst or least updated place I have lived. They have all the appliances except a microwave, which any former dorm-student should have. There's always a lot of light and beautiful mature trees. They have a community garden that you can sign up for each year and a nice pool. The vibe is very relaxed and quiet. Maybe I was lucky but I rarely heard my neighbors and when I did, it was tolerable. I miss the proximity to places. The East side is great. From Covenanter you can walk to the mall, Kroger, UPS, Pizza X east, etc etc. Out of all the places I lived in during my 6 years in Bloomington, this is by far my favorite. I think it's a nice neighborhood and Victoria is a great property manager. I sincerely miss living down here. TL;DR: This is a nice community. You're surrounded by nature and it has a relaxed vibe but you're also close to everything and on 2 major bus lines. The apartments themselves are small. Everything (especially appliances) is old, dingy, and dirty. Don't let the online pictures and model apartment fool you. I'm constantly having maintenance issues in this apartment- heat/ac, the dishwasher, plumbing, etc. I've had problems with almost everything. The carpets get cleaned during the summer so they weren't bad when I moved in but everything else was absolutely disgusting! I was once without air conditioning for days in the middle of summer and the heat broke down in the winter once and they took almost two days to come fix it even though it was an "emergency" issue. Maintenance is slow at fixing everything, but at the same time I realize they have so much to fix daily because everything is so old and is breaking all the time. The office staff is nice- I've actually gotten to know a few of them! But the managers (except for one) are awful. They're rude and will pretend to listen to your issues, then will blow you off and do absolutely nothing about it. I unfortunately got stuck with the most awful roommate imaginable and the office has done NOTHING. I could write an entire book about this situation... I provided the office with 7 pages of incidents with my roommate (stealing things, harassing me, creepy behavior) and they have done nothing. The roommate mediator is supposed to set up a roommate mediation. However, after a couple days of trying to reach my psychotic roommate, the mediator contacted me and said we would have to set it up ourselves... even though that's literally what she gets paid for. So of course, nothing ever happened and I have been left with no other choice but to move out for my safety. Last summer I got a bill from the office out of nowhere saying that I owed almost $200 in late fees. The charges on the page didn't add up, after taking the bill to the office and having it reviewed they realized they had charged me over $100 more than I actually owed... this place will steal from you if you're not careful! The only good thing about this place is the all-inclusive rent and the decent amenities. I highly recommend avoiding this place like the plague... it is absolutely awful in every direction. I could go on and on about unnecessary things I have had to deal with here but I think I've made my point.
