This is not the right salon and I can't delete this. The salon was LEGENDS not etheral. I sent an ai generated photo of hair cuts that would work for my straight, thinning, very fine hair. I was paired with a stylist whom, painfully, knew nothing. She had very thick, long, wavy hair. The pictures I shared did NOT have a center part in the middle of my head with obvious thinning hair showing in the middle of my face accentuating a high forehead. The stylist was very nice but she should NEVER give cuts to people with my hair type. The next day I thought I would pull it back and fluff the bangs until I could figure this mess out. The bangs fluffed but I literally had (have) side pieces that are 3 inches different in length on each side of my face. OMG! From bad to worse. After evaluating what hair I am currently left with I chose a cut that would help fix this mess. Looking for a new stylist now. Prerequisite for my new stylist... she must have thin fine thin straight hair. read more

My poor son went in with longer than shoulder length hair & just wanted curtain bangs, maybe a few layers around the face. They straight up BUTCHERED his hair and gave him like 1 inch bangs. I didn't tell him how much of a girl he looks but that was literally the reason he didn't just go to Great Clips. I definitely would not recommend this place to men. Or anyone else. The stylists are too new & inexperienced for the price. When I went for highlights, Jodee left me with uneven highlights so to see the website say she "specializes" in highlights was a joke. Plus, she was catty. No one wants to go to a hair salon where you feel like you're walking back into high school because the stylist is talking crap to the receptionist about you. Unfortunately I did not like this place. YES it is very fancy for sure however I bought a full highlight and stated I wanted to make my hair noticeably blonder and it took 4 hours and it was EXTREMELY overpriced (like literally 460$). 4 hours for a highlight!! I felt judged in there being younger and sadly they were pushing products down my throat due to it being part of the stylist's commission. It was literally so hard to continue to turn down these products throughout my highlighting process that I don't need and frankly I can't afford as a college student. I even then had my stylist try to ring up one of the products at my checkout and I had to say no again. They then kept trying to push me to make another appointment when I really knew it wasn't in my price range to come back within the next 2 months. The worst part was, I walked out with my hair looking basically the exact same as when I walked in, just with my roots fixed up even though I said I wanted to be noticeably blonder. I left in tears I had to call to cancel the appointment for the future that they made me because I really really never want to go back. It's a nice place and the stylists definitely know what they are doing but overall this place is not for me or anyone who just wants to get their hair done once in a while after saving up. read more

She transformed my long thick unmanageable hair into a medium length cut with highlights. Then styled it beautifully. I really, really wanted to love my new do - - because I really needed one. But what I experienced was artists working more on a "script" of whatever is in style, than actual creativity. I received the typical cut that probably 85% of people ask for. I made it clear that I was okay with "a little bit" of texturing, but that I am growing out my hair and really just want some shape to get me through til the next stage. She quite literally textured out about half of my hair. When I saw the pile on the ground when I was leaving, I was stunned. So, my hairstyle is light and textbook "good" but that is definitely what seemed to be happening, simply textbook. Now my hair is super thin and I, once again, must wait for it to grow out. I want to start off by saying I'm not a person to leave reviews unless I feel really strongly. I'm a millennial, I try to give people the benefit of the doubt and not go full Karen on the world, but honestly when you drop $200 on your hair to leave looking almost exactly the same - yikes, something has got to be said. So I made my appointment online, and given my hair length and expectation - I saw the quote online as $135 being reasonable for a cut and balayage + deep conditioning treatment. And I would have been fine to pay that if that's what I received. I arrived to the salon ~5 min past my appointment time due to my own fault - Google maps didn't locate the salon well and I called the salon to help reorient myself. Once I arrived, there was one gal on the phone and two stylists at the desk - not a single one acknowledged me (lol - we LOVE failing at basic customer service) but I shrugged it off, it's fine - people are busy. After waiting some time - I'm not going to attempt to quote a time frame, all I know is it felt really awkward standing beside 3 employees for a prolonged period of time without so much as a nod in my direction - but finally a fourth gal (pink hair, she was really cute and nice) welcomed me and ask if I had been helped, I gave her my name and appointment time and she checked me in. After another few minutes, my stylist came to get me - and maybe this is my fault for not selecting a specific stylist that had a proper amount of technique for what I was looking for, but merely selecting a time slot - but she seemed nice enough, super cute and in a good mood. I talked her through what I'd like, showed her a picture and talked about having a trim of my bangs and overall length. We're set, everything's fine and I tell her I have to work on my computer because even though it would be delightful to take the afternoon off, I have to pay for this expense somehow so I need to continue working. She said it was fine and she started coloring my hair, some foils but definitely not the same balayage technique I've sat through with other stylists. But once again, who am I? I'm not a hair dresser and I'm not about to correct someone on their profession - it's not the move - so I stayed silent. Then it was time to wash everything out and do this deep conditioning treatment, add the toner, all that jazz. Once that was done, she started to cut my hair and I mean it was a few snips, no layering, everything is one length... exact opposite of the picture we started with. And hey, once again - benefit of the doubt, I was thinking "ok, maybe she's not done yet, maybe the layers happen once we dry it" - and let's keep in mind we are a full 2.5 hours deep at this point. There wasn't anymore cutting, she dried my hair and did some "face framing" pieces for my bangs. Yeah, that was it. By the end of it, not only did my hair look nothing like the picture I showed her but basically looked like she did an all over color, working off of the highlights I had when I came in, and decided to call that a balayage. She tells me we're done and I go up to the front desk to pay and somehow we've reached a total of $175 without tip. Um? I would've been fine with this price tag and the almost 3 hours in the chair if my hair looked like what I had asked for / the picture I brought in, but it didn't. And maybe it's my fault for not pushing harder and questioning how we ended up ~$40 over my quote but I was mentally exhausted from sitting so long and leaving less than happy with my hair, so she charged my card and I left. In hindsight, I would've absolutely booked a different salon / someone who could give me more reassurance that my hair would look like the photo / look close to it rather than telling me what I wanted to hear. In no way am I saying it "looks bad" or "omg this salon is trash" - I'm saying I went in with a very specific look and price point in mind and left missing the mark and overpaying / paying for a service I didn't feel I received. Now the ambiance was good, the salon is clean etc etc - now while all those things are important, arguably the most important is having stylists who can produce the work the clients request - and if they can't, point them to someone who can. I hate leaving a lengthy review but for one of the highest (if not the highest) rated salons, I just expected a lot more in the end result. read more

I had a upscale full price expensive full high lite with cut and reconditioning with brow tint and wax. I hate leaving less than 5 star reviews, but I want people to know that this salon is a training salon with a few top stylists and most new right out of school. So just know that going in you are with a newly trained stylist. I spent 6.5 hours my first visit, about 2 hours getting a redo. They were honest enough to re do me with training in place for the new girl to learn, but I didn't want a full day spent with being a person willing to be a hair model. They definitely should let their consumers know this is the case. Unethical upcharges(no disclosure) - BEWARE... Made an appt for root touch up $70 at Ethereal. I am new to the area and trying out salons to find my forever home salon. I get my hair touched up every 3 weeks. Went in today for my root touch up, stylist mixes up my 1 BOWL of product touches up my roots everything going as expected....until it's time to check out. Go to pay and there is an additional $20 dollar charge to the already $70 making it now $90 total. I ask what is the extra $20 for and they stated it's for the two extra bowls of color. WHAT! She used 1 bowl and never mixed another. When the Stylist mixed my color, she took it upon herself to "mix more"?? Never asking or disclosing this beforehand. Ethical salons would disclose beforehand...Oh for this I believe we need more color, are you ok with that?? Or hey I mixed this bowl but don't think it will cover all that is needed so I might need to mix another bowl. I would have been fine with the upfront honesty. But since this was snuck in without disclosing. UNETHICAL BUSINESS PRACTICE!!!! read more

My first visit to Lunatic Fringe went amazing so I didn't think twice when I wanted to grow my hair out and to help get a light perm. Well man was I wrong. I went in for a consultation and we were a go for the perm. I had about 2 inches of damaged hair. Still said I would be ok. Came in just on Monday to have it done. Said we would probably have to cut the damaged hair off after. She recommended that she use a product that would help not damage my hair more and it would cost another $25.00. I said ok. after 15 minutes she was rinsing and doing the next process. when all was done and she took the towel off my head. My hair was damaged another 2 inches and the perm didn't take but near my scalp. The stylist started to say this is why Sally's product is bad. She blamed me for my hair damage. So she said we would have to cut my hair. I said ok. do what you have to. She suggested a fauxhawk. I said great. She then cut. The problem was that she literally cut and not even. She didn't style it either. Just put a little product in and said ok, I recommend you come in 6 weeks for a protein treatment and we should do a cut then. I walked out and just cried. My hair was uneven, frizzy, and honestly I looked like a clown. They didn't charge me but they also didn't do anything with my hair. I have extremely thick hair and she had cut it so poorly that all I could do was do twists from front to back to tame it and let the fro go in the back. I ended up shaving my head this morning just to look professional again. All they care about us upselling services and not what is best for the client. She should've recommended that we cut the damaged hair and do the perm in a month or so. I am so beyond disappointed that I will never go back! I even sent and email and management had her contact me!! I don't want to talk or work with the person that left me looking like a clown. read more

I saw the the only person who they claimed knew how to cut thick curly hair. When I told this person I wanted it cut dry, she was very okay with it. I told her that I washed my hair before I came in and let it air dry so she can cut my individual curls. She then started to comb my hair even though I told her not to. She was argumentative with me and refused to listen. If I didn't have somewhere I needed to be right after my haircut, I would have walked out. I asked for a romantic half-up do with hot pink hair extensions and Sarah knocked it out of the park. I've never felt so beautiful in all my life. Previous to meeting Sarah, I'd had an awful hair trial with a stylist at a different salon, so I was very nervous when I met Sarah for our hair trial. Sarah listened carefully to my concerns, calmed my anxieties, and I left our trial 100% confident with her abilities. In addition to the trial, she also dyed my hair and hair extensions the week of the wedding a vibrant purple and pink that was hola-gorgeous! On wedding day Sarah was professional and relaxed and exceeded my expectations. She's a perfectionist, which I appreciate, and went above and beyond to make sure my hair and makeup looked perfect. She also stayed with me during portraits to make sure my hair and makeup was looking great. She even held my bouquet and dress train to assist the photographer. I would give her ten stars if I could! Sarah N. SAVED me and my hair! I went in last minute because I had received a color job I was extremely unhappy with the day before. She was absolutely amazing. She automatically knew what needed to be fixed, listened SO carefully to what I wanted to make sure she knew exactly the direction we were going to go, she even had another stylist in the salon come over to make sure that what she had decided was the best possible plan. I went from having super thick, streaky badly contrasted highlights to a totally blended and beautiful caramel color. The stylist who did my hair was wearing a mask around her chin, I'm sure you've seen that look, right? Not an effective way to wear a mask. The receptionist was not wearing a mask! Very few clients were wearing any masks. No social distancing, as the woman getting shampooed next to me was not wearing a mask. That is fine for those who don't believe in masks, but when I scheduled my appt. I was told masks were required and they were following all of the recommendations from the governor and the CDC. Painfully slow, as well......3 hours for partial highlights. One more thing, I requested an appt. with Chandra, got a call from the salon saying they had a cancellation and could I come for that appt. When I got there, my appt. was not with Chandra. Would maybe feel better about my experience if my hair looked nice when I left....it did not! read more

I can't say enough good things about Nikita at Lunatic Fringe. She was friendly, professional, and asked lots of questions about my hair to make sure that it got the right treatment. She did an amazing job with my cut and style. The layers were blended beautifully and she really took her time on it to make sure it was perfect. She also didn't feel the need to fill in every silent moment with talking which I really appreciate as a shy person. Also, the girl at the front desk asks if you would like a water or soda when you walk in. During the wash, they give you a lovely head massage. All the stylists were so nice. We were visiting from LA and my daughter wanted to get her hair done (she goes to school here). She met Preston and he was the first person in a long time to understand the best way to achieve her goals. He did such a fantastic job, he blows me away. He did better than almost any hair stylist I've seen in Los Angeles. He did a baylyage to her hair and it's incredible. It has depth and catches the light and will be very low maintenance to boot. I've been seeing Megan at Lunatic Fringe for my cuts and color for a little under a year, and I'm always super-stoked with her work. I'm a pretty low-maintenance person, but I'm weirdly picky about my hair (probably because a stellar cut does most of the work for you!) My style is pretty standard -- straight, Caucasian hair with medium-length layers and highlights -- but while trying out stylists at other salons I noticed that a lot of them heard me say 'low maintenance' and took it as 'doesn't care,' so I'd end up with a really boring cut. Megan is the opposite. She's great at paying attention to the finishing touches of a simple cut, which make it look really polished. Great place! read more

Go by a referral only. I was a new client, they must have assigned me to an inexperienced person and At 55 years old thought I was going to cry. I had to have someone else come and fix her butcher job. The girl who fixed it was wonderful, so I'm not saying this is a bad place, just be careful of who you get. This last year I have visited St. George multiple times. I stumbled upon this salon and LOVED it. I am now moving to ST.G. My fiancé and I were there this weekend and he needed a hair cut. I RAVED about this salon. They have a SMALL variety of high quality products and pretty good quality work. My fiancé got an appointment so my 2 year old son and I went in as well to buy some Kerastase products (not cheap, very pricey). A worker rudely approached me telling me if i didn't plan on purchasing the products I couldn't smell them (my fiancé is supersensitive to smell)"these rnt testers!" in a snob way. I brushed the degrading tone off. I go outside with my boy and walk back in minutes later.BTW my toddler is very well mannered (i am not the parent to let him scream in restaurants or destroy anything), he was literally standing right next to me and another worker came up to me and rudely told me I had to leave bc I had a child. I thought she was joking. I didn't even really take it seriously, so I said "we are with him he is almost done(getting his hair cut)" the employee continues to tell me that i have to leave bc I have a child and they "don't allow kids unless a service is involved". I picked him up, who again was not in any way acting other than calm, and still waiting for his father so I say "ill hold him." Still wasn't acceptable. good thing it wasn't 110 degrees outside like normal, it was ONLY 90. I left, went to our car and text my fiancé to NOT buy the products I left at the desk for him to add to his haircut when he was finished. NO SUPPORT from this mom. I will NEVER return.
