I am extremely disappointed with my experience at Ethan Allen Glendale AZ. Despite multiple attempts to resolve a serious issue with a defective mattress--calling management, regional management, and sending messages--no one has taken my concern seriously or returned my calls. The lack of responsiveness and disregard for customer complaints, especially considering my health and disability, is unacceptable. This level of customer service is disappointing and reflects poorly on the company's integrity. We have spent the last 9 months trying to get Ethan Allen to replace the "brown" chairs ($800 each) which were delivered to match the "grey" table and buffet. Their only offer was to "refinish" the chairs. The chairs were refinished and are still "brown" and job was sub standard. Original finish showing through in many places. Cost of entire dining room set was $10,000.00. Ethen Allen has not responded to the last two efforts to contact them. This is very disappointing as the entire order for our home was over $50,000.00. I've always enjoyed great products from Ethan Allen over the last 25 years. However the customer service has definitely declined. I purchased a bed from them recently after several months of waiting But it was well worth it, as the product came through with no problems or issues. The interior designer however really didn't offer me much in the way of what else I could do to incorporate my old traditional Ethan Allen furniture with my new even though I expressed my interest in my future plans. I had her come out in hopes she could help me continue my remodel but didn't feel she offered much in way of creativity. She did make one call to me after I received the bed to make sure I was happy with my purchase so I still gave them a 4 star! read more

I hate looking for furniture! I do. Over the years, as things have worn out, we've found ourselves upgrading some our sofas, love-seats and other furniture. As I've stated above, the process is not very enjoyable to me. It's probably has more to do with the original care and expense we took in buying the pieces. But in the end, kids, animals and bad movers have taken their toll. Ethan Allen is one of those relax places. It makes me feel as if I'm in someones home, rather than a furniture store. They greet you at the door. Politely ask if you need help and then leave you alone. That's works for us, because we know our preferences and just want to browse until we see it. We first started shopping in Ethan Allen back when we lived in Connecticut. Styles have changed over the years, but the quality work of their crafts-folk hasn't. We have some pieces that are over thirty years old and still in relatively good condition. That's quality. And, our salesperson has been very helpful and willing to work with us. I decided to purchase a whole house full of furniture from Scottsdale Ethan Allen based on their reputation for producing quality custom furniture. My experience was horrendous. once they received my money, their support vanished. I got no help with arrangements for delivery and it took me a couple weeks to find someone to assist with scheduling and communicating delivery dates. When I finally received the furniture, I found the designer had ordered the wrong sofas. They are a completely different design than I had selected, but Ethan Allen said too bad. They delivered the sofas that were written on the order form. They took zero responsibility for the mistake they made. if you purchase anything from them, make sure you double check everything they do including getting photos of the style they write down on the order form because they absolutely will not honor your selection as the customer even if they make the mistake. Do not buy furniture from Ethan Allen. Their customer service is awful, they do not stand behind their products, and once they make a sale they don't care if your satisfied. Nine months ago we ordered almost $20,000 in furniture and window coverings. The window coverings were late being installed, and where the wrong coverings. The headboard for our bedroom was delivered damaged and we have no idea when it will be replaced. We are still waiting for a piece of furniture which was damaged in March in their warehouse. We still do not know when that will arrive. The company blames COVID for everything, but that does not excuse failure to return phone calls, ordering the wrong products, and just horrible customer service. There are many options in furniture stores and I urge you to stay away from Ethan Allen. read more

This is our second furniture purchase we had from Ethan Allen. Our sales person was Susan Gregory who is fantastic. She even came to our house to ensure me that everything we picked out would look great in my home. She was right!!! My new furniture is just gorgeous and the color and design is perfect. We furnished almost an entire house with very expensive Ethan Allen furniture and recommend that you stay far away from them As part of our last order, we bought 2 power recliners at a cost of over $5,000. First, both chair motors died, and we had to fight to get both replaced because one was slightly over the year warranty. Then the material started to fray, and we tried to get the issue resolved by going through our EA designer. To our surprise, she was no longer with the company. We were turned down repeatedly saying the warranty was expired. The material EA's designer chose is very thin and doesn't belong on any piece of furniture that you actually plan to use. I guess I wasn't worried about a 1 year warranty because I assumed the chairs would last longer than that at a cost of $2500., each, which was my mistake. I recently contacted the Better Business Bureau. This time around, EA offered to sell us new material (at their cost price) and we would also pay to have them reupholstered. They closed my case and when I tried to tell them I wasn't satisfied with their offer, they literally said, "Please consider this case closed as we believe our previous response still stands per our warranty." Well, I guess I've been shooed away for good. So....if you like quality-made products and a company that won't shut you down when you have issues with quality, please shop anywhere but at Ethan Allen. read more

The store is very dishonest. They claimed that the January sale was the best of the year and you needed to get the order in by the end of January. Then in February it's the same sale with free delivery, which is an extra $200 in saving. I asked for the February deal right away and they would not honor it. Very misleading and dishonest. The only caveat here, like others have said, furniture is often late. But with the bad stuff out of the way, I want to praise Ethan Allen! Our furniture is gorgeous, made in the USA, and tailored to our exact aesthetic. We worked with Marylin, who is absolutely fabulous. She is able to navigate the several different style preferences in our family. She has excellent training and credentials, too. UPDATE: We've had our furniture for a while now and everything is holding up well. Marylin did a wonderful job maintaining customer service throughout the whole process (browsing, evaluating our space at home, working with budget, designing custom pieces, delivery, and follow-up) I really can't stress how much I disagree with the bad reviews. I wish there was a rating of "0" stars. Furniture that was ordered in November, promised end of Dec, and 1st week of January still isn't here. I was told 2 weeks ago by Cindy, manager at the Scottsdale store, that both sofas were being put on the truck back east, and the "absolute latest delivery date" is Feb 9. My husband called today to check on delivery. Sofas aren't in AZ, and my leather couch is on the production line... REALLY!!! 2 weeks ago I was (lied to) told it was being put on a truck!!! Cindy told my husband delivery would be in late March. I called Cindy and told her I want my deposit back ($2000 of $6000). She will not return it. Will not let me cancel my order. I would never have ordered furniture from them if I knew delivery would be 4 1/2 months, at best. I'm sure the employees at Ethan Allen new this, as who would wait that long for furniture? Are they told to LIE to customers? I told Cindy that I now want furniture from their showroom delivered to my house, until my order comes in... "She'll call me back..." That was HOURS AGO, and she hasn't called back... BIG SURPRISE. Tomorrow I will be contacting the BBB, the Attorney General (to see about canceling my "contract"), Ethan Allen corporate office, and the Phoenix TV stations. Hoping the TV stations have a "consumer advocate" to work on this publicly on my behalf. I'm sure I'm not the only customer that they have pulled this on. read more

I have to say that the staff at this Ethan Allen is superb. They are friendly and approachable, yet practical and they do not push at you. Classy bunch. My husband and I worked with someone who took point (Susan) but we had some logistics challenges as we wanted to purchase a floor sample and were not going to be in town for very long - so how to get it delivered? After stopping by Ashley Furniture, we decided to stop here on our quest for nightstands. When we first entered, we were greeted by what looked like a receptionist. The front entrance is large and has a large wraparound desk with two ladies sitting there. It was a little off putting, like I needed to make an appointment to view the furniture. Undeterred, We started to wander around looking at the different displays. Compared to Ashley Furniture, this place is tiny. It was like a bunch of bedrooms crammed together and then a large open space with just tables and books of fabrics. Luckily, we were not followed around be an employee dogging our every step but my husband commented that they probably didn't do that because they didn't think we'd buy anything. Well, they were correct because we didn't find what we were looking for. Not too impressed with the selection and the overall "cold" experience. read more

My mother, sister, and I were spending the day together in our "relaxing" clothes. We just had our nails and toes manicured, ate a delicious lunch, and then went shopping to purchase my mother a sofa. My mother has been a customer of Ethan Allen for over 55 years and wanted her new sofa to continue this tradition. To this day, she still has 4 pieces of Ethan Allen furniture in her home. When arriving to the Ethan Allen store, we were greeted by the "receptionist" who skeptically asked if we had been to Ethan Allen before for which we happily stated "yes". At that point she dialed the intercom asking for Bree to come to the lobby. While the receptionist was doing so, my mother, sister, and I proceeded to browse the showroom. While looking at the beautiful pieces, one of the sales representatives (who was helping a well-dressed customer) visually sized up my sister and continued with her "pitch" to her customer. At this point, sales representative Bree, sizing my mother and me up, snidely asked if there was something she could help with. I cheerfully looked at her and stated that we were "just looking". "Well let me know if I can assist" she derogatorily stated and went about her business. My family and I continued to look at the furniture and came upon the Bennett 86 RA Sofa tag listed at $1899. This is the sofa my mother fell in love with. Upon writing down the information and heading back towards the front of the store, Bree came up to us and quipped, "Well did you find anything?" as if it was a joke that she was even asking us this question. I indicated that we did indeed found a sofa and asked if the fabric on the couch was the same grade (because we know grade can change the price) as the fabric samples on a spool which was placed on the coffee table in front of the sofa. Bree indicated that the fabric was the same grade/price because of the "collection" this sofa was in - the "Custom Quick Ship" which pleased my mother. Bree then matter-of-factly indicated that there would be a discount of 17% which also made the purchase more appealing. In the same breath, Bree condescendingly indicated that the shipping would be $150.00 for which I indicated that I was fine with that. My mother (77 years old) asked if the 17% discount was because the sofa was so expensive for which Bree snobbishly stated as a small chuckle followed "Um, no. That sofa IS the CHEAPEST in that collection". At this point I was ready to leave because of the blatant attitude we were receiving; however, my mother really loved the sofa. I followed up with one more question, "Is the sales tax in Scottsdale" Bree quickly interrupted with "it's 8.6%" which had me ask the question again because of her interruption "Is the sales tax in Scottsdale the same as it is in Peoria because any savings is a good thing?" Bree looked at me puzzled and said she needed to check her computer. Bree walked toward the "design center" of the building and unbeknownst to her, I was walking behind her. Bree approached another sales associate who was sitting at a table and noticeable started mocking my body language and questions. The sales associate at the table gave a look of being mortified and deplored. At that moment, I had never felt so sick to my stomach, angry and discriminated against! I immediately looked at both women and told them that they had just lost a sale and that I did NOT need to be made fun of or given the attitude as if I was something that they stepped in prior to walking in the door of Ethan Allen. I was judged, ridiculed, and discriminated against. I have a master's degree in Psychology and a career in which I make a substantial income. I should NOT have to show my "credentials" or "dress to impress" when walking into an Ethan Allen store to purchase a sofa or any other piece of furniture. Assumptions should not be made based on the clothes that I was wearing, my appearance, or the SES that your employees (the ones mentioned in this letter) perceived me to be in. Webster defines to "discriminate" - (verb) to make a distinction in favor of or against a person or thing on the basis of the group, class, or category to which the person or thing belongs rather than according to actual merit; show partiality... One of your CORE values states, "...a melting pot of designs. From everywhere for EVERYONE." While this looks great in print, it is not a value that is true in person. For 55 years, Ethan Allen has been in at least one of our family's homes and at this point, this relationship is ending. For the record, the sales tax in Peoria, Arizona IS LESS than in Scottsdale (8.1% versus 8.6%). This may not seem much money to those who outwardly appear not have to worry about this, but like I told Bree "Every little bit helps". read more

We ordered furniture with Ethan Allen, once they have your money you never hear back from them . We waited 3 months for a sofa and then were told it would be on back order. A call to the sales person resulted in no call back, several times. A call to the manager and she indicated it was our fault that the sofa was delayed. The most un=professional person we have ever spoken to. It took writting a letter to the corporate headquaters to get any results. No apologies, only a $200 credit on $8000 worth of furniture. My advise is find another furniture store. read more

I have furnished 4 homes in different cities spending tens of thousands of dollars over the past 20 years at EA and this store is mediocre at best. Major shout out to the Ethan Allen in Phoenix and to the designer who helped me, Bree. I am from a low income family but have been saving up to get the Retreat couch for the last couple of months. Money has been tight but Bree was able to offer to break the payments down for me with 1/3rd down and the rest due by the time my couch comes in. She was so polite and respectful and I felt like she really went out of her way to listen to what I wanted and not just try to sell me. We scheduled for her to come out to my house once I get my tax refund in (didn't even think about waiting for my tax refund!) so she can bring some fabrics to help me find the best color for my space before I place my order. I have spent a significant amount of money with Ethan Allen and have found that the stores estimation of delivery times does not even come close to the truth. A simple 8X10 rug I ordered was estimated to be delivered in 2-4 weeks. After 4 months and was told it would be another 4 months until it arrived! Yep, you read that right... It was going to take 8 months. This was common synthetic, machine made rug-- nothing handmade. This happened with chairs, as well, though the wait was a month and a half beyond what I was told. They are paid on commission and they will do anything to get a sale. They are expensive and the service is the worst in town. read more

This store is ridiculous. I decided to order a simple rug because I wasn't sure if I was ready to give all my business to Ethan Allen to furnish a 5 bedroom house. I'm glad I didn't. The rug delivery took over 10 weeks when it was promised within 4 weeks. Then when the rug didn't come with a rug pad, I called the sales associate and she was so rude to me that I had to tell her to lower her voice! Can you believe it? Instead of offering a simple solution, she continued to tell me how wrong I was. UNBELIEVEABLE! I'm so happy I gave my business to another furniture company right across the street. read more

While visiting relatives in Scottsdale, we decided to stop by EA's showroom on E. Mayo Blvd in Phoenix. We were building a new house in Fort Myers, FL and had exhausted pretty much all SW Florida options for furnishing our house. We were immediately blown away by the size, beauty and layout of this store. Furnishings we had only been able to see online or in catalogs were actually on display so we could touch-and-feel them. Reception was friendly and service was outstanding. Our sales consultant, Bonnie, was awesome in every respect and quickly earned our total confidence. We have continued using her for decor advice since returning to FM and she has a sincere interest in helping us achieve our desired look. Our total experience with this store and its people were above-and-beyond our expectations and exceeded all experiences with other similar stores. If this store and our sales consultant were located in SW Florida, they would have gotten 100% of our business. We could not recommend them more highly. read more
