I am biracial. My mom (who's white), sister (who is very white looking) and I came into the ABQ Ethan Allen store looking for a recliner. Multiple people came up to us and greeted us. Great service. My mother ordered a recliner that was received today. My mom is traveling so I'm trying to organize picking up the chair to help my mother. I was on the phone with a Pattie where I received polite and prompt attention. My boyfriend then accompanied me to Ethan Allen to help pick up the chair. He and I are both more Hispanic looking and the service we received was abhorrent. Ib addition to waiting 15 minutes before even being acknowledged. The service was terrible! Maybe there were just terrible associates today but the treatment I received when I was with my white side of my family compared to the treatment I saw today was extremely obvious and offensive. read more

We purchased 2 leather chairs from Ethan Allen for $6.300. After 5 months the headrest on 1 of the chairs discolored. We tried to get Ethan Allen to fix, replace or give a store credit, so we could get new chairs or our chairs fixed. After numerous requests the store refused to help us. It is very discouraging to spend that much money and get no help from Ethan Allen. We will never buy anything from them agian and we suggest no one purchase anything from Ethan Allen. read more

I come from a long line of Ethan Allen shoppers, so going into the store, my expectations were set high by prior Ethan Allen experiences in both WA & NJ states. The order (chair) took longer than expected (supply issues they couldn't control, so I was okay with the delay) but then when it arrived, it wasn't correct (I wasn't okay with that!!). The design associate didn't input the order correctly. I was offered a 20% discount or to have the chair reordered. After a bit of a think, I asked to have it reordered. Really didn't want to wait another 10 months (or even one month), but I wanted the chair I ordered, not someone's mistake. Turns out, the primary fabric was no longer available so a complete replacement was no longer an option. After a bit of back & forth, they had a local upholstery shop fix it since the secondary fabric still available. It arrived today and it's beautiful, exactly what I wanted, ordered, and waited 14 months to receive! I give the chair 5 stars and the design associate 4 stars, so really a 4.5 overall. I'll purchase from Ethan Allen again, but not sure if I'll shop this same store. read more

I am surprised Ethan Allen allows someone like James Stokes to represent them. I ordered a $2400 bed for my granddaughter in El Paso, Texas. (I live in Utah) This was the second piece of furniture I purchased over the phone with a credit card. When I called the salesperson to ask about "ballpark" time frame for delivery, she promised to call me back. Two days later I called her again, and she told me the person in charge of deliveries was not there, and that person would call me. I would think these people could return phone calls. When I called James Stokes, he called me rude and predatory. He said, "You want us to hold your hand over one piece of furniture." I guess a phone call about a $2400 piece of furniture and a $400 delivery charge is "hand holding". The internet is filled with complaints about this man. Apparently, he refused to return $1000 to a mentally disabled woman. That is what I call predatory. Do not deal with these people. They want your money, and you better not ask for any customer service. read more

My wife and I were shopping for furniture and this place was by far the worst in customer service. You would think that for such an expensive place with plenty of workers and limited customers, the one on one experience would be optimal. We walked past two workers and looked halfway around the store before being spoken to. Unacceptable... In this economy, customer service is numero uno. We ended up getting our dining set at JC Penny's Furniture on Candelaria...service was great and the price was unbeatable. read more

Buyer Beware!! I have shopped here twice. Both times they charged the full amount up front and told me my order would be in in two weeks. Two Months later, you still don't have your order, and they won't give you a refund. If you don't care about having an empty house and having your money held hostage by an unethical bait and switch technique, by all means shop at the Albuquerque Ethan Allen. Don't expect any customer service from the owner, JIM STOKES. He will be very rude to you, he does not try resolve complaints, he will call you names and threaten to sue you. read more

When I complained that a glass-topped table I'd bought off the floor discounted "as is" had several scratches on the glass, one of them 4" long, upon delivery, and that I wanted either a price reduction or for the store to take back the table, the owner flatly refused to do either, insisting that his delivery men couldn't have scratched the table (as I asserted), insinuating I was lying about the table. He then KICKED ME OUT OF THE STORE as if I were a trespassing panhandler! I am 66 years old and have never been treated like this in my life. It is completely shocking to me that ANY store owner, much less one at a prestigious place like Ethan Allen, would treat a customer this way. This is the first of many complaints I shall be issuing. read more
