A few months in, my daughter had one rough moment in class and was crying because of a streamer she had wanted, I had checked in with the teacher, Ms. Yevette, explaining she hadn't gotten enough sleep and I'd make sure to be on it. Unfortunately, following this class, the teacher consistently seemed irritated with her and would purposely pick her last for every class activity, almost to test if she would throw a fit again. She would get mad at my daughter for looking at herself in the mirror and pick at her while leaving the other girls alone. Luckily, my daughter didn't have any other fits or seem to notice. But as moms we know when someone doesn't like our child. I work for an Elemantry school and know how difficult kids can be, but have always actively worked to make sure kids feel included and never feel that I'm irritated by their existence (as they are, kids). The instructors, Jeff and Cindy are so great! They are welcoming, encouraging, and professional. There are many regulars that attend the basics class as a warm up and then take the level 2 class an hour later. I have gone to 3 classes and plan on taking more in the future. I have also attended a members social that had food, drinks, music, and two hours of fun. Everyone that I have met at the classes are friendly and patient when I ask questions or get the moves wrong. I feel that I can only get better with practice and experience. There are other classes offered at the ballroom like Salsa,Tango, Country Two-Step,Country Swing and more! This is Northern Nevada's only nonprofit dance studio and they are doing everything they can to get everyone dancing. The research on partnership dancing and aging has been phenomenal! That alone should encourage everyone to dance! The Ballroom offers a free Dance With Me program for those who have cognitive and/or mobility issues such as Parkinson's or dementia. There is an afterschool program through Reno Housing Authority in underserved areas. There is also a program for young children! Last night was the annual fundraiser Gala for the studio and what fun we all had. What wonderful performances by all. And yes, I have the parent's permission to post the pictures of the youngest student to perform at the studio!

I was skeptical about putting my 2.5 year old in ballet lessons because i wasn't sure how she would do with something that takes discipline and structure. She had been telling me she wants to do princess classes like the Nutcracker ballet at the Nugget that we saw, so I figured we should at least try it. I am SO glad we did. The instructors are INCREDIBLE. They have such patience working with little ones and they are so understanding if one of the kids have a toddler moment and are over instruction. They make it fun and I am so appreciative of how they have reached out to my daughter and helped her get more comfortable with their Fairytale Ballet program. I chose to take a class with Ana and I left feeling confused, time wasted, and learned absolutely nothing. It wasn't a fun class more like a fitness class with a couple of moves I wouldn't start beginners at. They need to put on the website to bring your own pole grip because when I asked they said I didn't need to bring anything other than a water bottle that they would provide everything else. Even the music was horrible. Anyways when I get there and ask about grip they point me to this shelf with nothing organized and just a bunch of tester free grip bottles that were basically bone dry. When I climbed she told me I did it completely wrong she even chuckled. Very much felt like a mean girl who grew up because she was only nice and truly helping those who had been coming to this class frequently and you could tell. The way she climbs isn't the same as how I do and that should be perfectly fine. When she explained things it really didn't make any sense and I just left extremely disappointed. This was a few months ago and I do not plan on returning.

When we came for our first lesson, we were greeted enthusiastically by Corina and Aiden. They were very professional and fun. And at the end, they sit down with you to give feedback as well. We enjoyed our mini lesson but the only thing that kept us from coming back for the rest of our lessons is the cost of their packages. They were double our budget. If you have time for group classes and are here just to dance - then the packages might not be too unreasonable but since we only needed some guidance for an event, we couldn't justify spending a few hundred for a couple lessons.
