With both of us having two left feet, my fiancé and I knew we wanted to take dance lessons for the first dance on our wedding day. Two of our friends had taken lessons here for theirs and gave us a gift certificate for two 20 minute lessons here. When we came for our first lesson, we were greeted enthusiastically by Corina and Aiden. They were very professional and fun. And at the end, they sit down with you to give feedback as well. We enjoyed our mini lesson but the only thing that kept us from coming back for the rest of our lessons is the cost of their packages. They were double our budget. If you have time for group classes and are here just to dance - then the packages might not be too unreasonable but since we only needed some guidance for an event, we couldn't justify spending a few hundred for a couple lessons. read more

I've been taking lessons here for a bit over a month, and I'm so impressed. The instructors all pay close attention to, and seem invested in, my progress. And what progress it has been in such a short time. The other reviews you see here say it is expensive, and it is. But if you can afford it, you have to think in terms of value. You're not just paying for some dance lessons, but for a lifestyle. You're paying for an ambitious curriculum of a dozen different dance styles by a highly skilled and friendly staff, four group classes per week, special events, and a community of lovely, welcoming fellow dancers. And you're paying for progress. They're not messing around here, you WILL make progress. You don't even need to worry about this, they will closely monitor and document your progress for you. Just show up and have fun. And it really is so much fun. Even if you think you have "two left feet," my advice is, get over yourself, take some risks, and allow yourself to feel a little embarrassed as you stumble through your first lessons and classes. You will find that nobody is judging you here. They've all been there. Experienced dancers have tremendous respect for the bravery of newbies taking their very first steps, even if (especially if!) they're struggling, but persist nonetheless. I have had two classes and so far I am enjoying the lessons. Starting from basics and having different instructors for me personally, allows me to gain more experience and comfort with multiple dance partners. Instructors throughout the lesson will instruct as to what they notice about my form so I can correct it immediately. I appreciate the way they teach and correct. read more

As a walk-in looking to freshen up my footwork, I was impressed by both the welcoming atmosphere of the studio and the quality of the instructors. Each one added to the lively energy of the room and made each of their students comfortable. They taught me a tremendous amount in a short span of time. Well since my dance card wasn't punched for the Yelp Putting the Ritz event. I decided to Dance With Myself! GroupOn seems to always be running a special on two weeks of group classes plus two private lessons during at Arthur Murray Dance Studio. So I put on my dancing shoes and danced the blues. Unfortunately, my schedule got to the best of me so I only made it to 1 private lesson and 1 group class. Located at Mill Street & Terminal Way. Turn off Mill Street at the Quik Stop and drive to the back of the parking lot. There are several other dance studios in the building. The good: -Extremely friend staff, which is paramount when the odds of falling on your face are high! -The offer many genre of dance: Swing, Samba, Tango, Waltz, etc. -Other dancers are very friendly which is a good thing since as single person I was dancing with a lot of other people's husbands. The not so good: -The group classes did not work with my schedule. So check out of their schedule on line before you commit! -It's a bit uncomfortable to dance with strangers so if you can bring a partner it would be helpful. Or maybe you're bolder than me. -I would've like to do just private lessons but you need to do the 2 weeks for a full assessment before they discuss other options. Get your dance on at an Arthur Murray studio! This is actually a franchise of a chain of dance studios that started in New York. I chose to try this studio, mainly because of the location which is scant minutes from my home. The owner is very energetic as well as the instructors. If you have a partner that you are trying to get interested in dancing the staff will make them interested if by nothing else, but their constant enthusiasm alone. The interior is welcoming with two rooms for dancing. The main dance floor is well maintained and the do allow you out on the dance floor in street shoes (nice if you're new and haven't bought your dance shoes, yet). This is a good school for beginners, as there are plenty of opportunities for them all week. My chief complaint is the package structure of dance lessons - this studio encourages the purchase of dance instruction packages and doesn't allow for people to drop in on classes and pay as they go. Kind of hard on the budget for a recreational activity. If you want to try dancing, go get a gift certificate for you and your significant other and give it a shot! read more

This is the last week of festival at Arthur Murray in Reno. We have had lots of fun with themed dance parties, games and group classes. I'm so glad I'm part of this extraordinary group of people. If you want to find a stress reliever, or get to know yourself better, make new friends, lose weight, gain self-confidence, improve your heath, smile again, care about yourself, care about others, and just happen to learn to dance, this is the place. Love Love this place. I've been going for 5yrs. I came in as a single student with zero experience and what I felt was two left feet. The instructors are patient and work with you on dances that interest you and explain each step so you have a strong foundation of your dance. And did I mention each day they teach a different group class so you can chose what works for your schedule or chose to come everyday and learn them all! It's my favorite place to be when I have available time. Also there are weekly Practice parties that allow you to show off your new steps with other students of all levels. It's a great way to meet new people who share a common interest. A few times a year you have a chance to dance with students from other Arthur Murray Schools as well. Spotlight parties for this area are held in Reno and some in California. If you want to participate you can create a fun routine with your instructor and show off your skills to everyone. It's a great time. Dancing then dinner and pro shows. Go on over to the dance studio and meet all the staff. You'll be happy you took the step! read more

We came here on a Groupon, and it was definitely a reasonable quality of lessons for the price of the Groupon. However, we were absolutely stunned by the rates this studio charged for private lesson packages, and they didn't offer any group-lesson only packages. We will not continue here after our Groupon has expired. The instructors are nice, but some are clearly new to teaching. The beginner lesson set-up was also a bit frustrating, as each type of dance is only given about 20 minutes of instruction, so you never really feel like you are mastering anything before going on to the next thing. read more

This studio is awesome. The teachers are so fun and make learning to dance easy and never make you feel awkward. Ever. I love the way the leassons are packaged with private lessons, style classes and dance parties. You get all of the best ways to learn to dance. I tried just group classes once at another studio and honestly it was so frustrating. You don't get any personal attention and they taught way too many different dances at one time. At my studio (ha ha, it's not mine, but this Arthur Murray is where i take my lessons) they teach one dance at a time in the group classes, and then, your teacher will teach you at your own pace in the private lessons and even remind you of what you learned in the class. As a single woman, normally i wouldn't go out dancing by myself so the parties are a great way for me to dance with teachers and other students and never fell like a wall flower. Ok there may be places that are cheaper to get lessons, but I've learned that when you pay peanuts, you get monkeys! LOL!!! Love my Arthur Murray Studio in Reno! read more
